I am a massive Tamora Pierce fan, I have read everything she has ever published under her name. I'd love to discuss her works with anybody else who's read them.

Hey! I’m talking! cat_scream
i've read all of Winding Circle, The Circle Opens, Immortals quartet, Song of the Lioness quartet, Protector of the Small quartet, all 3 Bekah Cooper books, The Will of the Empress, Trickster's Choice/Queen and one other that i can't think of. where the main character is Evvy. Melting Stone, i think...? emotion_kirakira so i own/read most of her books
so i need to get:
Replacements- Sandry's Book (Winding Circle book 1) Lady Knight (PotS book 4) Wild Magic (Immortals book 1)
to get- Will of the Empress Melting Stone Trickster's Queen books 2 and 3 of Bekah Cooper (Bloodhound and Mastiff, respectively) and one that's about Tortall legends and myths
oh, and a collab she did with someone else: Young Warriors. i have that emotion_kirakira
Ok, I’m done. Go back to your babble

She's written quite a few... she has two major worlds, set in Tortall and Emelan. In Tortall it goes Song of the Lioness quartet, The Immortals quartet, The Protector of the Small quartet (my favorite!), Trickster sereies, Beka Cooper series... and then there's Tortall and Other Lands: A Collection of Tales.
In Emelan it's Circle of Magic series, The Circle Opens series, The Will of the Empress and Melting Stones.
All her books feature amazing female heroes and are set in worlds where magic is part of life. Tortall has gods that are very real, Emelan less so. Each series could be read standalone, but I strongly recommend reading in chronological order. It makes for a much richer experience as you can see the culture evolve and the impacts previous characters have made on the world around them.
Tortall is a realm similar to medieval England. When she starts writing it in the Song of the Lioness it's about to go through a period of change. Alanna is a young girl who loathes all things conservatively ladylike and, disguised as her twin brother, undertakes the training to become a knight. The Immortals takes place a few years later and follows Daine as she runs away from a troubled past and discovers the extent of her amazing abilities.
In The Circle of Magic, four children are in desperate situations when they are found by a man named Niko. Dealing with various traumas and a new home, they must also learn how to accept and control the powers they have. The books of the Circle of Magic seem to have been reprinted with the titles "Sandry's Book", "Tris's Book" etc, but they were originally "The Magic in the Weaving", "The Power in the Storm", "The Fire in the Forging" and "The Healing in the Vine", which I think is way cooler. xd
More details about the later series may be regarded as spoilers for the first couple, depending on how strict you are, so I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, the original series/book names were "The Circle of Magic - The Power in the Weaving", etc. I'm really confused as to why they changed it. The old version ties in better with the rest of the books and is so reflective of the ideas that started the series. Young Warriors is mostly good, Tamora's contribution was great. Did you know she also wrote the script for a comic? One of the incarnations of Marvel's White Tiger. It's really cool.

that is odd, why they changed it. sometimes, the author wants the change. no idea why. the new titles do fit, more or less. after the first couple of chapters the first settles on Sandry, the second on Tris, Daja on the third and Briar on the forth. comic? really? cool

Sadly I have only read the tricksters choice books. Imagine my sorrow when I found it was the last of an amazing timeline. Add in the fact that I can't find the first books anywhere. I want to read them in order because her writing is so good!

Dude! I totally forgot that I've read some of these! Namely, I remember, long, long ago I read the first three books in the Song of the Lioness Quartet. I dunno why I never read the fourth. If I were to read it, I would want to re-read the series. And then I read the first book in Immortals, and I didn't even realize at first that it was in the same continuity. Small world.

I want to read them in order because her writing is so good! Since they were published so long ago it can be hard to find them in bookstores, but do you have a library that might be able to order them in? You should totally re-read the quartet and finish it, and then the Immortals, and then Protector of the Small. xD

My friend lent me the Lioness quartet (well, the first three O_O). I'm hoping to get my hands on the last one soon. And read more of her bookies.
