User Image Sunlight streamed through the canopy of local trees as a solitary figure stood among the rather large grove within the safe bounds. Here the Ex. Guard, Zephyr, stood silent and still, listening to the wind as it rustled the leaves above her blue haired head. A brow twitched as single leaf pulled free from its home and drifted towards her. Extending an arm, a rather long pole was clasped tightly. Its long staff like body was polished to a mahogany shine, topping the eight foot shaft, another three feet of steel based metal blade.

as the leaf drifted ever closer, when it came to range, Zephyr's eyes snapped open and her stance changed. Pulling the staff from its resting position at her side, she swung its length down, dangerously close to the ground. Pulling the long blade upwards to slice said leaf in half. This places her, to know that her defenses weren't getting too rusty, but something nagged at the back of her mind. Something she.. Just couldn't grasp and it was making her even more nervous. Worse then this 'peace' that surrounded the place. Some how, something was... Missing..

Argent had found himself torn. He couldn't bring practice weapons outside, but he wanted to train. He just wanted to be outside though, to feel the breeze. Somehow, the pale haired boy found comfort in the wind, even if that made him feel ... weak. He couldn't explain it.

Rather then stay inside and train to the hum of the lights, Argent wandered out into the sun. The light wind ruffled his hair as he wandered away from the shift and started going through the motions of training. Slow, controlled movements of the body. Step, swing, arch- he lost himself in his pattern until he heard the rush of air being sliced by something swiftly. He paused, looking to where the sound came from and spotted the woman, the one from the blackbird... and her weapon.

What a weapon it was! He hesitated approaching her. Was she training too?

Stretching slightly and pivoting on the balls of her feet, Zephyr continued the swing around lopping off small twigs and other leaves on the lower branches of the trees. As the blade sank groundwards again, she turned and laid eyes on one of the young children in the distance. Pulling the blade of her weapon upwards and the shaft hefted into the ground a few inches she watched the boy. For a time she thought everyone else was inside and doing other things. Still company was company.

"Well hello there bright eyes. You look like someone who just saw what they wanted for their birthday." Zephyr commented loud enough for the child to hear.

With her arms crossed loosely behind her back she inspected what she could tell of the child. Besides his stare, he seemed like a fit young man, but she had to wonder why this on wasn't off playing with the others and just, enjoying life. More puzzles and Zephyr was starting to get annoyingly bored of them all.

When she grounded the weapon and spoke to him, Argent felt approaching wouldn't get his ear lopped off. He walked closer, still admiring the weapon before turning to address the woman. "With a fine weapon like that, who wouldn't want one?" He commented, wanting to touch it, but sure that he wasn't ready for something so much... taller then he was.

But it wasn't fair. Why couldn't he take a weapon out. Rent one to take exploring at the very least. Oh well. His eyes lingered on the blade a bit longer before returning once more to the elder. She was the one from the blackbird... but Argent couldn't recall her name.

"... Have you recovered?"

Zephyr watched the child as he came closer, his stare was on the weapon that was planted at her side. Looking down her nose at him for a moment she shrugged and pulled the glaive from the ground and held it out to him. "This old thing? Its out of date these days." she shrugged.

The weapon would be heavy to most people, she had seen weapons that were weighted almost double people over. She liked weighted weapons, made everything feel light as a feather. "I have recovered as well as anyone can do. All I really needed was food and rest, stuff I have had enough of that I feel like dead weight around here." Zephyr said a little frustrated, "But what is a person to do? so which child are you? I have seen a good few running about." Kind of a rude way to ask, but her nerves were kind of on edge and she wanted to get herself back into shape before something else happened. The crash was something she couldn't have controled, but something on land she could try.

At the offered weapon, Argent didn't hesitate to hold his hands out. If she would allow him to even hold it, he wasn't going to say no. It might have been a little too big for him, for his tastes, but...

"Just because it is not a beam weapon does not mean it is without it's uses. A weapon like this might be more reliable should something happen to the power supply of the more... 'advanced' weapons." Never mind that blades needed to be kept sharp, and that with misuse, they could break. Somehow, blades and more primitive weapons seemed... fitting for the world they lived in now.

"I'm Argent." He took no offense to her bluntness. After all, introductions didn't exactly happen when he'd seen her last, as they returned from the blackbird. "Before you came here... Were you in many battles?" He was still seeking his place in the peaceful world, but it never sat well with him that as a genome, he was made to fight. And this peaceful world seemed to hold no place for him as a weapon.

"Beam weapons always have their limits. Energy runs out, they over heat if the energy charge is replaced incorrectly. A weapon like such relies more on the person wielding it more then anything else." Zephyr stated noting her slight distaste for energy weapons, but in a pinch they were useful. She unwillingly had to use one on her friend just after the crash. Shaking her head from the memory she handed over the long pole weapon to the youth before leaning back against a tree.

"There were a lot of battles before crashing here, Argent. Many I would wish not to send a youth like yourself into without training. I unwittingly signed myself up for a job that became something more out of sorts." she wasn't sure how to explain it to the youth, that she was an assassin and had dealt with a lot in her time alive. The people she killed for a greater means and for their freedom before escaping with Aren. "I take it that you were born on this planet?" she inquired watching Argent, she had yet to really introduce herself to the youth, she figured that it would come out in time.

The weapon was heavier then he thought as it was placed in his hands. He didn't drop it, but it took a little more effort to hold then he had expected. But it was a wonderful thing. So he took his time getting used to the feel of the weapon. "A weapon will always be limited by the one who uses it." He knew that if he were to try and fight with the blade she had dropped in his hands, he wouldn't do it justice. Not yet. Maybe some day. But at the same time... Weapons that aren't used grow rusty. Argent knew no matter what, Genomes were weapons, and he was simply rusting now.

"... I was." He admitted after a pause. "I don't know why though." It was peaceful, so why create more weapons? "Ghost spoke of fights before, well before the ship crashed. And of course I know of what our people went through." He'd learned about that in the library, learning all he could about fighting. That only made him more uneasy about sitting idle on this 'peaceful' planet.

Zephyr watched the youth as he held onto the weapon she had let him have for the moment. It was true that it was heavy, she was surprised that he could hold it so well, but then again most didn't train as this one seemed to. This one brought a small smile to the assassin's face. "Well it seemed that you know your way around an armory and can handle that type of weapon, somewhat." Zephyr said as she looked back towards where her new home happened to lay half buried in the ground. "There were many fights, many battles and a great many where lost in those battles. A lot of them as young or younger then you. But most went into the war fighting willfully. Others forced against their natures, they were the ones that fell first."

Zephyr looked to the ground in thought before she looked back up, those were darker times, now it seemed only in memory did she have to live them. This place wasn't at all at war with anyone, nor did there seem to be any hostile in habitance. "Ghost does like telling stories of our past. But I think that you young ones were birthed to begin anew without the feels of war or the needs to fight." She eyed Argent, "But you seem to have not changed. Perhaps all the fight wasn't taken out of everyone. What weapons do you like to work with?"

There was a slight frown on his face. Really, he had nothing else to do but train or... 'play.' But he didn't find playing to be of any interest. But he listened to what she said. Forced to battle? They were weapons, but Argent was learning not all embraced this fact like he did. Many were... soft. They took to this calm lifestyle more easily. He smiled when she mentioned Ghost. "I will have to ask him to tell me some then." He would love to listen to Ghost talk about the past. Learning where they came from would be so much more interesting coming from him then from Mother or the library.

"I practice with the weighted spears and pole arms." He said, giving the glaive a practice thrust, and a slice upwards. But the weapon was too long for his short stature. The back end hit the ground, jarring Argent. He stumbled and fell forward, then back, landing on his butt. However, he still had a hold of the weapon, preventing it from falling on either him or Zephyr. "But I'm still a long ways off from mastering them. ... Ghost beats me every time we spar." Not that he minded loosing. Each time it seemed he got closer to winning, but Ghost would pull out a win. He knew the elder was going easy on him because of his age. But it was still great training.

"Yes, Ghost has that way of beating everyone, the only one I know of that can best him is Aren. And he doesn't go easy on anyone. Not even me." Zephyr snorted before looking down at the child that had landed himself on the ground when he tried swinging the weapon around. "glaives aren't as easy to swing around, are they?" She smiled crouching down to grasp the polearm and pull the boy back to his feet.

"Sometimes I have to wonder what else is past this place then just the hulking wreck I crashed. perhaps when you are older, we can head out and find something to 'scratch' that itch." She had a feeling that that was what this kid wanted. To leave the barrier and explore the lands around them and get that fighting itch 'scratched' for the time being. "So, you going to show me what you can do? Or am I working with a blank slate?"

Standing up again, he looked at Zephyr. "No. They're much different from what I'm used to." And it was like twice as big as he was. "I can attempt to show you what I know, using your weapon as a stand in for my own." Seeing as how he didn't have a weapon with him. Nope. They were in the training room. Well, the one he was crafting was in his room. That wasn't something you just carried around with you everywhere.

Adjusting his hold on Zephyr's weapon, he shifted the shaft to where he could hold it, and swing it a little, without falling over. After backing up a few steps so he wouldn't risk hitting her, Argent lowered himself to a starting stance. He took a few breaths, focusing, before adjusting his work out routine to try and accommodate this heavier weapon.

It wasn't easy.
