Lucy sighed and lay her head upon the cool glass of the counter in front of her. Yep, this was going to be yet another uneventful, unproductive day at the CD store that was currently her only means of financial support. Her unpopularity with everyone in Winchester, including the handful of musicians who resided there, was denying her the chance of ever singing in a band.
A more specific reason as to why she chose to lay her head down was to avoid the creepy gaze of Hank Williams from the poster on the wall across from her. She'd always despised country music, although her only exception to it was blues written by Jack White from The White Stripes.
But that stare from the accursed Hank Williams... it was enough to give her nightmares. And being the daughter of an agent who worked with Interpol, that was saying something.
Suddenly, the tinkling of the door bell woke her from her tedious brooding.

((I'm assuming that this is open to anyone, seeing as you dove right in?))
A man in a large, dark overcoat walked in. Well, more like a older teenager, judging from his height. He wore a large, shadowy hat with the brim pulled low and his collar was popped high to hide his face. The only part of his body that was visible were his eyes, which seemed to glow from within with blue light. Excuse me... His voice seemed hoarse, and as he walked towards the counter, he had a pronounced limp that left a loud thud every time that he stepped with his left foot. I was wondering if I could get a small speaker? Something that I could fit in my pocket, or something? My last one for my ipod stopped working... Oh! And a Dragonforce CD, if you have any...

Lucy eyed the customer in front of her carefully. He certainly had an eerie nature about him, from the hat that covered his face, to the strange sound his limp made. He might be a pirate, she mentally joked to herself. Of course, that was probably all it was. A joke. Some kid decided to dress up for Halloween early, even to the extent of giving himself a fake peg-leg. Either way, it was one of the more interesting customers she's had in a while, and she got all types to come in here.
It took her a few seconds to find her voice, which had now become hoarse due to lack of use for a whole six hours.
"Right, I'll see what I can find. Be right back..." she told him in a hurried voice.
Lucy scurried to the section where the sound systems were stacked until she found a box that had a miniature compact speaker illustrated on it. She compared the prices on the other miniature speakers, then decided that the first one she laid eyes on was the least expensive.
She then skipped over to her favourite section in the store located at the back - the metal rack. She had convinced the store owner to create a whole section dedicated to Nightwish, complete with a promo poster for the film that accompanied their new concept album, Imaginaerum, which was due in theaters in London at fall. Every time she looked at it, she couldn't help but focus more intently at the band's picture on the left of the poster, more specifically on Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist. He was her ultimate inspiration to become a songwriter. But she couldn't dawdle, and had to get back to business.
Skimming over the other albums from other equally-decent bands that were stacked on the rack alphabetically, her eyes found their place on the bunch of Dragonforce CDs. Grabbing the ones she knew to be most popular among Dragonforce fans, she put them on top of the box with the speaker and went back to the counter.
"Here you are, then," she told the eccentric customer. "Each disk is 20 quid, and the speaker is 35.50. Would that be alright?"

That's fantastic! He did his best to sound happy with his voice growing raspier by the second. Somehow, there was an edge of... was it electrical static? He reached into his pocket and pulled out a hundred quid, laying it on the counter. Keep the change...
Just as he was picking up his things, a man made of steel burst through the front door. His face was covered by some kind of helmet, with two black eyeholes and a handle-like appendage rising from both sides of his head. It raised its arm, revealing a small blaster, which immediately opened fire on the stranger. Drean Overton! Your upgrade is incomplete! You are no longer compatible, and must be deleted!
The stranger, apparently named "Drean," moved faster than anyone could have believed from his limp earlier. Somehow, with the sound of hydraulics being released, he manged to jump up to the ceiling before he was shot. With one hand, he gripped the handhold that he had punched in the ceiling. With the other, he opened his new CD and slid it into his jacket. Deleted? Over my dead body... He muttered as the opening notes of "Through the Fire and Flames" began screaming to life. As the cyberman adjusted his aim, Drean dropped to the ground, landing on one knee with a metallic thud. My turn!" He shouted, raising his own arm. A large gun barrel tore through the sleeve of his coat, and with a single shot of green laser, vaporized the cyberman's head. As he walked over to the body, he didn't limp, but allowed his leg to walk normally, now displaying a slight sound of hydraulics with every step, but only enough to raise questions. He quickly unboxed the speaker and put it into the collar of his jacket.
No need to waste compatible parts... He muttered as he began to examine the now-dead cyberman. He seems to have a few newer components than the others. This would be easier with the head... His muttering sounded strange, as if coming out of a phone's speaker. I could have salvaged the speaking parts...

The bell over the door tinkled again as a young woman stepped through, then stopped dead in her tracks, staring at the hooded man pointing a laser gun at the beheaded "corpse" of a robotic form. "Holy crap! Is that a Cyberman?" Mina exclaimed, then she looked up and saw Lucy standing behind the counter. "Luce!" she said, running around the scene in front of her and gathering the other girl up in a hug. Then she pulled back and looked Lucy over. "What happened here? Are you okay?"
((Is it all right that I jumped in? I can delete this post if not.))
