Does anyone have any suggestions? Money is a little tight right now, so cheaper would be nice, but you can suggest more expensive ones that I can look at and torture myself with want

Yup Strathmore is good. Really any drawing paper that has a good texture to it unless you are doing a certain kind of work like working in pen or something. So don't go out and by super super smooth paper! I find pencil drawings look a lot nicer on slightly textured paper. The only really smooth paper that's nice for pencil is moleskin but those are a bit pricey. sweatdrop

If your looking for a drawing Tablet, then you should look at the Wacom Bamboo. I use it all the time! (Check out my dA for examples or look up Foxshine.) There's several different kinds of Bamboo tablets, the cheapest one though I think is under 70-80$. ^-^ That's if you want to try a decent drawing tablet for digital art.
