The tome before you belongs to Jadaria and Maravilha. There is a seal surrounding the book, one that allows you to leaf through the pages but prevents you from adding anything. The enchantment is strong and cannot be broken so easily, if at all. So just sit back and enjoy the Tall Tale that is unfolding before you. You can visit the Stationery Store to find out how you can write your own Tall Tale.

The brisk walk he had taken that evening was just what Linneas needed. Turning the knob to enter the shop, he shook off the few flakes of snow that had persisted in falling, despite the weather growing warmer.

He didn't call out to anyone, he didn't feel like he had to. Wordlessly he removed his boots and scarf, putting them neatly in their places before heading into the kitchen for something to drink.

Jadaria was cold. Very cold. Not cold in that, "Hey, it's chilly," way, but cold in that, "Jesus H. Christ, it's fragging freezing!" king od way. It wasn't particularly icy, to be honest, but she hadn't dressed for the weather, and the slowly sinking sun wasn't helping her at all! Shivering horribly, the poor woman glanced up just in time to see a form disappearing into a shop. Eyes widening, she skittered after him; she plowed through the snow drifts, flurries swirling about her, until she finally reached the door.

With a huff, she slipped in; a stationary store? Ah, how adorable! She could use some stationary - back at home, Kaji had a party to plan invitations for, anyway. What a stroke of luck! Maybe something had brought her here!

'Ha ha. Yeah. Like the cold!'

Shivering at the thought, the sapphire-haired woman wrapped her arms tightly around herself, scooting about and browsing curiously, trying to act as though she had purposely come into the shop. Well, purposely with a reason other than getting out of the chill, of course.

She really needed to remember her coat.

From the coziness of the kitchen, Linneas heard the door to the shop open. He had just poured himself a cup of cocoa (Huni wouldn't let him drink coffee for some reason), and with mug in hand he peered out into the shop front. Spying the woman, Linneas wondered why anyone would be shopping at this hour. Unless of course...

"Hello, good evening. May I help you?" he asked, stepping out of the kitchen to properly assist the sapphire-haired woman.

At the voice, Jadaria jumped, then laughed nervously, pressing a hand to her chest. She flushed pinker than her already-rosy cheeks had been, then coughed, mind a-whir in an effort to think of why she was there. It wasn't just getting out of the cold, oh no! ahah. Of course not. Why would it be that? Hum.

"Oh... I was... just passing by, and I saw this little place when you came in. Oh, um... Dear. I might be sending out invitations to a party soon, and you know, it's so hard to find good ones, so I thought I might come and see what kind of papers and envelopes you had?" she said, a bit too quickly, but offering a sweet smile nonetheless. "It's a little boy's party, so... something bright, maybe? Unless I'm mistaken on the kind of store this is, in which case I'd be terribly embarrassed."

She giggled a little, then huffed, straightening herself best she could.

Linneas smiled warmly at Jadaria, the woman reminded him of his mom. Both women seemed to be easily flustered and Linneas hoped to help calm her down. "Well, we do have a fairly good selection of invitations, is there a specific theme for the party? Pirates, cowboys, astronauts?" he suggested, listing the various styles of invitations they carried. "We also offer customization, but it'll take a few days for those to arrive. Do you need them right away?"

"Uhm... oh. I hadn't thought about that, no... Uhm, well. I'm not sure if any of those would be right. He's not... hm. Well, maybe pirates? I think he'd like a pirate theme. It's not for a while, but you know - the thought was there? Oh... I'm not sure. Customization? Maybe you could show me some? Oh, or maybe I should just, you know, look around..."

Jadaria pursed her lips thoughtfully, glancing around the shop; it was a quaint little thing, wasn't it? She could handle browsing around a bit, even if not for any particular reason. Never knew what one could find, right! Maybe she'd find a little treasure hidden behind some old stationary!

Always young at heart, perhaps? Perhaps.

Linneas chuckled, "Certainly, feel free to look around. I'll go get the sample paper and templates from storage, be right back." he excused himself and headed into the storage room.

A few moment after the young man left, the door to the Study creaked open...

"Alright!"

Jadaria smiled warmly, then slowly made her way down the little row, peering curiously at everything. Stationary - imagine! A stationary store carrying stationary. It was novel, really. Something she could have never imagined, heh. Though, nothing that really caught her eye - perhaps the custom things would be more interesting? It was possible.

So she walked, and then blinked at the partially open door, tilting her head to the side. Had it always been open? She was almost certain she hadn't seen an open door when she came in... Maybe it was another wing of the store?

Carefully, she scooted over, then glanced (in a wholly unsuspicious manner, really) around, before curling her fingers around the edge of the door and popping her head in, squinting into the room. She couldn't see right at the angle she was at, however, so she pushed the door open and entered in entirely, glancing around.

"...'lo?"

The room was dusty, and poorly lit, a stark contrast to the warm, bright shop. It was fairly small, perhaps due to the bookshelves stacked with volumes of old books and whatever window that existed had been sealed up. At the very end of the room, where the solitary lightbulb hung suspended, was a writing table. Sandwiched between the wooden surface and the thick layer of undisturbed dust was the largest leather bound Tome in the room.

Curiosity piqued, Jadaria couldn't help but enter the musty old room. A library? Interesting. Why was there a library here? It looked kind of old. Did anyone use it? Maybe it wasn't really a part of the store. Was she supposed to be here? Hm... Well. If that was the case, she could always get kicked out, right?

Squinting at the light in the center of the room - it seemed awfully bright compared to everything else - she slunk in, and found herself drawn towards the Tome. So dusty! She couldn't quite make out what it was supposed to be, either. Ever wondering, Jada drew a single finger over the book, gathering a little lump of dust along with it.

The trail Jadaria's finger had made on the Tome suddenly grew as the cover just opened, the yellowed pages flipping of their own accord until they stilled. Splayed open, a pen was revealed wedged in the spine of the Tome and on the paper was a question:

How will my dreams turn to reality?

That made the woman jump - and her eyes went wide as she watched the book open of its own accord. Imagine! A book opening itself! What in the world... And what was more - there was something written there. And a pen. Was she supposed to write something? Oh, that was silly. Someone was playing a trick on her, weren't they...?

But that question... there was something about that question. She knew the answer - she knew the answer before she saw the question. It was there, lingering in the back of her mind; something about the words urged her to pick up the pen, and she quickly scribbled her answer, before dropping the utensil again. Why? She didn't know. She had to. That was a question that had to be answered - it had to be, because she knew what was right.

I must swallow all the pain.

The bulb began to flicker erratically, almost in the fashion of a strobe light. But rather than mettalic, funky beats playing in accompaniment, each momentary lapse of light was met with a shriek of horror. There were cries of anguish, screams of terror and the faint but distinct stench of blood and metal. But in the end, the inhuman sounds were replaced by a soft sobbing.

Finally the light burned steadily, illuminating the Study once again. The Tome had disappeared, and in its place stood a rather tall boy. In his metallic hand was a small tome, the cover was composed of contrasting hues very similar to his hair...

Jadaria froze on the spot, unable to bring herself to move - frozen, hypnotized by the flickering of the lights, and more than that, the horrific noises that filled her ears. Each blink of the bulb brought her deeper and deeper into some strange despair, making her heart wrench at the pathetic noises. The final noise, the final flash, made tears spill down her cheeks, and she was left wondering if it were her own sobs that she was hearing - or someone else's.

Maravilha.

She froze again, hands half lifted to wipe at her face. What was that?

Maravilha.

Silver orbs flicked up, then widened as she took in the form of the boy that was now standing, staring at her through dual-coloured eyes. For a few long moments, their eyes did not move, neither blinking, neither moving. She wasn't sure - had he spoken? He looked almost like a statue, standing there so still, so unlike a normal child. His arm - those things floating behind him...? But she saw, then, the glowing green riddling over the metal pulsed slowly, like a heart might, and she could see him shivering now, even as he struggled to stand his ground. Poor thing - he was scared to death, wasn't he?

"Maravilha?"

The little boy bit his lip, but said nothing - stood taller, if anything. A soft smile graced the woman's lips, then, and she blinked away tears before reaching up and pulling him into her arms. He did not resist, but he did not hold onto her fully, either - just one arm around her neck, the metal one holding his precious book tightly.

She walked out of the study, then, glancing around curiously. People didn't usually come out of here with kids, right? But hey. She'd seen children come out of leaves. Books were just a step up, she supposed.

Linneas returned with the samples and was not all that surprised to find Jadaria with a child. Granted he was taller than the average Tale that came out but it didn't seem out of the ordinary to the young man.

"Here, you can take this home to look over. We rarely get custom orders so there's no rush." He smiled and handed Jadaria the samples. "Well hello there, what's your name?" he asked the new Tale.

Was it really so normal? How odd. Jadaria lifted a brow, curiously, but took the samples - as best she could, since she was carrying the gangly boy along with her. At least she could take them, she supposed. And wouldn't Kajika be delighted! Ah, there would have to be new rooms added on to the house soon...

She realised that Mara wasn't saying anything, and she glanced at him curiously, then at Linneas.

"His name's Maravilha," she said, offering a bit of a sheepish grin. "I... don't know if he talks. And I'll get the samples back as soon as I can. I should probably take him home, now, though. Uhm. I suppose?"

Along with you died joy.
All that remains is despair and a future of meaningless tomorrows.

But I will never give up.
One, to see your beautiful smile again.
One, to beg the blessings of the Gods.
I wait for that day.

When the boards cover all,
All sadness too will be covered.
But until my dreams return to reality,
I will have to swallow all the pain.

Maravilha is a creature inspired by the separation of self and society, of the acceptable and the nonacceptable, and of the conflicts of the desire to be unique and the desire to be 'normal.' Here he is called the 'Dreamer' because that is what he is, essentially - a dreamer, someone asleep, unable to wake up and choose a reality. He is split, beautiful and hideous, unable to cross over to either side of the line but unable to exist where he lingers in the center.

The Dreamer is made up of two parts; he is made of the Clarisonus and the Taciturnitus. These are not to be thought of as seperate 'personalities' - he does not hear voices, nor does he suffer from any sort of personality shifting or other apparent mental disorders. That isn't the nature of his 'parts.' These parts are expressed only in his physical appearance and in his own personal dream realm. They are a part of him, but he percieves them as different entities, even if it is only his conflicting desires presenting themselves as such.

The Clarisonus is represented by Maravilha's "odd" half; the braids, the metal arm, the energy tendrils and the red eye are all physical expressions of it. The Clarisonus is not evil or cruel or any such things - in reality, it is the child's desire for originality and acceptance. It is more his 'true' self than the Taciturnitus can ever be, though the two sides cannot exist without each other. The Clarisonus drives Maravilha to crave only to be himself, to be able to look and feel how he wants without worrying over the thoughts of others.

The Taciturnitus is represented by Maravilha's "beautiful" half; the long, flowing blonde hair, the normal body, the lovely jade eye - these are all outward fronts that the Taciturnitus puts up to make the child more acceptable by others. The Taciturnitus is to blame for Maravilha's initial shyness; it fears rejection more than anything, drives him to crave acceptance over all else. The Taciturnitus is a false front, but it is a part of him nonetheless - that which makes him need social interaction, even if he is terrified of it.

The Taciturnitus and the Clarisonus are at constant odds with each other; they, like every child, constantly fight for what they believe in - individuality pressed against acceptance, unable to find a happy 'medium.' However, unlike most, these desires have successfully managed to come out in Maravilha's physical form, and even manifest in his dreams as distinct beings.

When each manifests, they do so in their own way. The Clarisonus will manifest as metal and glowing runes, often in perfectly symmetrical boxes or rooms filled with gears and cranks. It is methodical and mechanical, yet wholly nonsensical in its designs and rules. There may be no entrances or exits, or there may be strange rules of gravity, stairs leading to nowhere, and other such things. It is a realm of chaos and fright for the one who does not know how to navigate it. The dream-realm of the Clarisonus will hurt the Taciturnitus, and in turn make its side of the Dreamer's body wretch in pain. However, it empowers its own side of the Dreamer's body, making his metallic arm and tendrils extremely powerful while in the dream-realm.

The Taciturnitus manifests as the same thing always; it is a long - endless - white hallway, five feet wide, ten feet tall. There are no windows, no architecture - it is the same, always the same. The light is ever-present. The dream-realm of the Taciturnitus hurts the Clarisonus and strengthens itself in much the same manner as its opposite.

Though these two manifestations want only the 'best' for the Dreamer, so long as they are apart they do nothing but hurt him and tear him in different directions. However, there are times when the two meet in an 'understanding' and merge to form one 'being.' This being is known as the Vox.

The Vox is a balance - an acceptance of himself and of the outside world. An understanding of what it is to be himself and what it is to be liked by others, and the realisation that he cannot fully swing to either side and be entirely content with himself. Yet the nature of the Clarisonus and the Taciturnitus make it impossible for them to fade away entirely; their 'existence' is too distinct inside of the Dreamer to simply disappear. Instead, they become the Vox, one single being meant to protect and encourage the Dreamer in whatever he may aspire to accomplish.

However, the Vox is a creation of opposites - it can only happen for small periods of time so long as the Clarisonus and the Taciturnitus still wish the destruction of the other. And it is such that the two can never permanently unite so long as Maravilha is unsure of himself and what he desires, as it is this, and the pain created from this uncertainty, that created the two halves in the first place.

Should the Vox manage to manifest, however - particularly when the Dreamer is awake - it has a much more pronounced physical appearance than either the Clarisonus or the Taciturnitus. Where as the seperate halves only influence Maravilha's body, the Vox is capable of manifesting its own self to protect or defend the peace that Maravilha has reached, however momentarily.

The Vox is capable of being quite powerful, particularly when the Dreamer is under stress or emotional strain, as it draws on his energies to manifest itself. While these feelings may be negative, they are still powerful - so long as they are not associated with any form of doubt on the Dreamer's part - and therefore quite potent energy for the Vox's form.

All information here is what is currently in development; it will be changed if disapproved by the staff.

Please check this journal for FULL family listing.

Syrie: Syrie is Maravilha's 'uncle' of sorts, who he isn't quite sure whether or not he 'likes.' He's only just recently met him, however, so it's probably just going to take him a while to get used to him.

Note: All family that belongs to Syrie is related to Maravilha only through a common-bond kind of thing, except possibly Bree; Jadaria and Syrie are not actually related, but share a brother-sister type of bond that the children tend to pick up on. Thanks. :3

--Maravilha's belongings - bought by Jadaria or family--
Stuffies

User Image User Image User Image
These are plushies that Jadaria has given Maravilha to play with. He keeps the fabre and lunatic on his bed, but usually takes the Micky plush (a stuffie designed after one of the creatures living on the ShadeWind property) everywhere he can. He's quite attached to it.

Hard Toys

User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image
These are hard toys - action figures? - that Jadaria bought for Maravilha when out shopping one day. They are all designed after anime and game characters. He likes playing with them, though he and Kajika get into fights over who gets to 'be' who sometimes.

Minipets

User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image User Image
These are cute little false pets that Jadaria found while out shopping one day. Since Maravilha wasn't old enough to have real pets yet, she bought him these little things to entertain him for the time. They float over their little bases and make noises if poked at. He has the whole collection set up on the top of his dresser.

User Image User Image
Two crystal balls that reminded Jadaria of Maravilha for some reason. She couldn't decide on one, so she purchased both for him. He isn't allowed to have them yet, so they're set up on a shelf he can't reach, but they do stay in his room.

User Image
A windchime that Maravilha fell in love with while out with his mother one day. Not being able to resist her child, she bought it for him and hung it over the porch. He seems very proud of this.

User Image User Image User Image
Three lamps hung strategically in Maravilha's room and wired to turn on like normal lights, complete with electric bulbs! He has a normal center light too, but he seems to enjoy the way the three different lamps look better than the one center one. Jadaria does too - which is the only reason she went through the trouble!

--Maravilha's belongings - given by friends--

User Image
A Dream plushie given to Maravilha by Syrie. He seems to like it very much, and surprisingly doesn't untie the bow all the time.
