Past-
When she was three, her magic began to manifest. Her parents were thrilled, and they began to make plans for the path her life would take. She would attend the Academy, graduate early, and serve the royal family by becoming a Cerberus Knight, and her family would gain in prestige and power.
Then came a tragedy. Her parents pissed off the wrong person with their overt grasping at power and station above themselves or perhaps it was a witch eater. Whichever the case, her parents were murdered, leaving the young girl an orphan. Amelie spent some time being shuffled between distant relations until she was five when she was claimed by her grandmother in Clarus Arbor.
She was then raised in the pastoral town quietly, by her grandmother who was a naturopath. She made herbal salves, potions, tonics, teas and tinctures. Amelie assisted her, and found she loved the peace of the still room and the making of potions. Her fledgling magic abilities settled and were ignorable, not manifesting often, and she was happy and content.
As per her parents ambitions for her, Amelie was accepted to the Makai Academy, and she attended. Neither the best student nor the worst, she had no real talents or specific issues. Average in most respects. She managed to pass the Trials on her first attempt. After graduating, she returned to Clarus Arbor and her ailing grandma.

Her grandma died just recently, and Amelie has found herself taking over as the local herb witch. She is not as well known or liked as her grandma, but she is working to earn the trust and reputation she wants. Currently, she is seeking a housemate/apprentice to stave off the encroaching loneliness....
