Laying still on the muddy ground, Seiki enjoyed the coolness the mud provided his body. Being of darker pelt he had to deal with issues that lighter coats didn't, one being that his fur kept all heat locked close to his body, dehydrating and baking him slowly. Normally he was fine, having gotten used to the extra heat, but a day like today was different. Even the whitest of creatures seemed to be having trouble.
Sighing lightly, he gave thanks to the deities for bringing him peace in the small muddy pile. Now, if only he had someone to speak with...

Nyota wandered through the tall grass, close to the ground, looking for any signs of prey, she hadn't eaten in days, and was getting dangerously hungry. It was due to all the hot weather that she couldn't find any prey, they were all in hiding from the burning sun. She hoped to come across someone tat knew something about there being prey somewhere, but she hadn't seen any lion or cheetah anywhere for days and days.
Something dark caught her eye, it took her a few seconds, but she noticed it was another creature, she approached it with her usual charm and friendly nature "Hello" she said in a peaceful tone, not wishing to startle the creature, as it was clearly enjoying the muddy ground it was lying in, though Nyota much preferred water.

Seiki jerked his head to the side, looking over to see the lioness before him. The fact that he hadn't noticed her presence at all before she spoke was slightly off-putting to him. It was after all, rude to not notice another creature when it was trying to communicate with him. Picking himself up, the small, thin lion bowed before the lioness, welcoming her.
"Hello there, I apologize for not noticing you until now. The mud is rather refreshing though. "
Smiling brightly, Seiki moved his body away from the mud, the squish and slosh of the wet earth pleasing him. This was the life. All he had to do now was rinse himself off near his den and enjoy the herbs and dried meat and fruit he had found.
"I am Seiki, who might you be? Been a while since someone else came to visit the area. Are you looking to trade?"

"im Nyota" she was happy he was so welcoming, he had very nice manners too "its alright, and no, no trade, was just wondering if you had any food to spare? prey has been scarce from the heat." She hated to impose, but she was so very hungry, and he looked like he was well fed, she just had to ask. she was fasinated by his markings, as they were very odd indeed. she never saw markings like that before. She was also an odd sight, because she was orange and yellow, it was a little hard to hunt, but she was swift in killing her prey, so it was no big deal.
She was looking forward to night, as it was much cooler then, it was late afternoon, so she was looking forward to watching the sun set with this kind male, he seemed nice, and she new they would make great friends, for how long, who knew? he could be tempermental, she didn't know, but the only way to know was to spend more time with him, and she was getting tired of not having anyone to talk with.

"Nyota, welcome. "
Watching her scan his body, he just waited. It seemed many creatures were fascinated by his pelt and its markings. He had to admit as well, it was rather strange to behold for the first time. The day he first caught sight of himself in the reflection of the water he was almost confused. Was he truly looking at himself, or the sky? It took his mother's urging to finally convince him it was his own body he was staring at.
"I do have a some food stored at my den. I need to head over there to rinse myself off as well. I'd be happy to help you out. I must warn you though... My diet is a bit... strange, from other lions."
And strange it was, he ate mostly vegetation with some meat. However, strive to stay away from it when he could. What he didn't eat, he would dry and cure as best he could for later. Never waste, that was his game.
Nodding his head in the direction of his den, Seiki moved forward towards it. Waiting a moment for Nyota to follow.
"I have to say, I am slightly disappointed you don't have anything to trade. My supplies for crafts are diminishing rapidly. Hopefully Kimia will be able to find a few things to use though... What brought you out here, Nyota? Are you just a wandering rogue or are you perhaps part of a pride?"

a strange diet? she wondered what this meant. did it mean he only ate vegetation? no, he most definitely ate meat. Maybe he also ate vegetation, she would have to wait. she followed him and continued to speak. "im am but a wandering rouge, i was hunting when i caught sight of you in the mud" she chuckled then sniffed the air, making sure she always checked for prey, just in case they decided to come out of their hiding places, but no dice. " i have not collected worth of trade in a while, this dreadful heat has made it hard in many ways." and it was true, the heat had caused many problems, she was very grateful this male was happy to share his food with her.
"are you also a rouge? or a pride member?" she asked with curiosity. she was curios where this lion had been, even though she never really was the "curious type" she was more the, she really didn't know what she was like yet, she was still pretty young, and really didn't have most of her personality figured out yet.

He continued to listen to her, keeping quiet for the most part to allow her thoughts to unfold. Seiki had found after many years of being alone that both younger and innocent character generally wished to speak more when the opportunity arose. He was all but thankful for that too, it was nice having stories to listen to once and awhile.
"The heat comes and goes. You learn to make due with what you receive, after all, generally the heat only last as long as the rain can gather."
Smiling back at her, he hoped she could understood what he was saying. Perhaps he could show the lioness a few tips to carry extra meat so she won't starve in conditions like this. Karma after all, would probably favor him at some point when he needed it. It was always trading favors, after all.
It was once Nyota returned his questions to him, that Seiki stopped. They were inches from his home now, the watering hole hidden among the reeds beside them. Thankfully he had no problems with crocodile folk or other short-fused beasts here. It was like a little piece of haven actually... Something, he could feel it, surely blessed him.
"I am but a trader in the rogue lands. I had pondered moving to a pride, but as it stands now I don't believe it will be a necessity. It is peaceful here..."

She smelt water, fresher then she had smelt before, he hoped there was maybe prey nearby, that she could eat instead of his food, she sniffed again. no dice.she slumped in front of the reeds, and smelt the water closer now, it must be behind the reeds, but sh enot dare go and check, it would be rude, and even though this male was kind hearted, he wold most likely tell her to go away.
"i have yet to find a place to settle down here, i haven't wanted to join a pride yet" this was a lie, and she said it because she really hadn't had any invites or anything to join a pride, making her very lonely, she was fine on her own, she was a fine hunter and, she could defend herself, she was tough, and was no longer a cub, she hardly remembered the days of childhood, it was all too quick.she learned quickly though, so it really didnt matter if she remebered everything, for she remebered her skills, and that was good enough.
A light breeze spread across her pelt, it was refreshing, and Nyota was sure the water would be refreshing too, once she was offered some, she was polite enough to know not to invite herself into someone elses den. she hoped to find her own place to call her den, but she had yet to find a place worthy of her paw print, it was a ritual in her family, a sign of marking territory. she was happy wandering for now though. her stomach growled hungrily once she caught the slight scent of cured meat.
