Mona trodded along the river, her hooves making near silent clip clop sounds against the packed earth. Her blue eyes were downcast, watching the grass disappear behind her body. The meeting with her birth mother had not gone as expected.. and now..? She didn't know what to think.
Apparently Kamryn, her brother, didn't either cause he had ran off... and Kristo... She sighed. Kristo had left with his brother Kai to go on the journey they had always planned on going on... And since they were finally reunited... Kristo didn't want to loose his brother again.. whiiiich Mona couldn't blame them. If her brother had been gone for that long she'd stick to him like glue too.
Anyways.. that left Mona alone... For the first time.. ever. She had never been without her family, especially Kamryn... and she had to find her way home? Leave it to Mona to botch directions and get lost.. Which is what she was currently... Lost. "Mona you dope... Why didn't you listen better?" She grumbled to herself.

Kaiden was just wandering along a river, not really paying any attention to where he was going. In one sense he was sorta lost. Now that his daughter had grown into a beautiful mare, he had little to occupy his time, and...no real goal in life. So...here he was now, just trotting along in hopes of maybe one day finding himself.
With his own head down, he stopped to contemplate his reflection in the water before reaching down to take a drink. Closing his eyes, as he started to drink, he thought of how cool and good the water felt. Just as he was about the swallow....THUNK! He spat out the water as a mare sorta ran into him.
Coughing and choking, he tried to clear his throat before giving a hoarse "Hi..." before coughing some more and managing to sound reasonably himself again. "Um, sorry I, uh...didn't see you there....Are you okay?"

Mona jumped back in shock as she collided with another.. pink? stallion. She shook her head, her tousled mane flowing out as she backed up warily. "Uhm.. I'... I'm sorry... I wasn't paying attention..." She looked around. Where in the world was she? This looked nothing close to home.
She sighed and bit at her lower lip before turning her eyes back to the stallion. "Uhm.. I'm sorry..." She said again, her mind blank for the knowledge of any other words besides those.

Kaiden laughed a little, uncomfortable himself, "It's okay, perhaps it's both our faults. Shall we start over and wipe the slate clean? I'm Kaiden." He gave her a bit of a sweeping bow, lowering his head and neck to her. She looked a bit scared and lost, and he doubted it was solely to do with him, after all he wasn't that scary-looking...least he didn't think so.
"Are you okay? You seem a bit...lost...maybe confused? I'd offer to lead you, but as I don't know the area well myself, I'm afraid I'd make a terrible guide..." He looked around taking in the area for the first time, really. It was quite pretty, though he had no idea where he was, but as he had no idea where he was going, it really didn't matter, right? That, and the nice thing of living on an island...you were bound to wander into country you recognized soon enough. He watched her from the corner of his eye, hoping to see her smile or at the very least relax a little. He had no intention of harming her or anyone else.

Mona gave a shy smile. This male was really quite attractive... She inwardly frowned, remembering Kristo's recent rejection. Her heart fell... that was one of the reasons she was by herself.. the other being that she just needed space.. Finding her mother had been the wrong decision... and she had been foolish to hope that the mare would have been someone who could love her...
"I'm Mona... but my father jokingly calls me Mona Lisa...' Her face fell from its shy smile.. Kaiden... The name rolled around in her head, reminding her of Kailyn... perhaps it was spelled similar... but this stallion didn't seem at all like Kailyn was.

"Well, if you don't mind my saying, you are as pretty as a painting. From what I hear, the Mona Lisa's most famous aspect is her smile. Perhaps, while he may be joking, perhaps there is a grain of truth hidden within it." He cocked his head slightly, studying her and what he noted most was that while she smiled, it didn't reach her eyes. Her eyes said much more...pain? Someone hurt her? He was taking wild guesses, for all he knew, she just wasn't comfy around males in general. "You do have a pretty smile, after all. Forgive me for being so forward, though, Mona, I don't mean to make you uncomfortable..."

Mona blushed and looked away, her blue eyes blinking bashfully. "Thank you..." She said softly, looking back up at the male, smiling once again. "And you're forgiven... and yes.. I am a tad bit lost..." She admitte, blushing once more. Her tail flicked softly back and forth as she watched the male.

Kaiden chuckled a little, good naturedly, "We can be lost together. Truth is I don't know where I am either...in a few ways. See, since my daughter's grown up now, a beautiful mare any father can be proud of, but I have no idea what to truly do with myself since then so...just kinda hoping that maybe if I walk far enough, a purpose will find me." Looking around, he sorta blushed too, pleased with her reactions to his earlier comments. She really was a pretty mare, and his words were the truth. "I wouldn't mind the companionship for awhile if you'd like to come with me?"

Mona stepped back at the thought of him having a grown up daughter, thinking he might have a mate. "Oh... getting away from your mate for awhile?" She asked curiously as she nodded assent to traveling with him for a little while. Who knows.. maybe they would stumble upon Aila's lands, or something familiar.

Kaiden quiet for a moment, thinking it over as she fell into step beside him. "No, no mate. It was more a...summertime romance, though it didnt even last a month. Wasn't meant to last,but we did have two beautiful children from it. I haven't seen my son since he was born when I agreed to take Anoma, my daughter, but honestly? I wouldn't change a thing. Anoma's been such a blessing to raise and to see grow. She looks the spitting image of her mother, and I hopes she finds who will make her happy." While he had a wistful smile on his face, his voice was a bit sad and the smile didn't reach is own eyes. He was inside a lost soul. "Right now, I'm looking for my own. My own happiness...."

Mona's mouth made a 'O' as she nodded and walked alongside the male. "I understand the looking for happiness bit.. Though I don't know about children... Nobody... Uhm.. the ones I tend to like don't feel the same for me..." She said awkwardly, not meeting any gaze from the other, especially after seeing his own sadness.. It seemed that not only were they physically lost.. but also mentally... in their hearts... and that was a painful thing.
