Working out was difficult, to be sure. But that was half the fun, right?

Right!

Grant was at home, not yet daring to enter a gym though he had plans to get a work out plan going at the one closest to his house. He was just working out a bit on his own, reading on the internet that conditioning was important to a good work out routine. He needed to get his mind and body on the same page. Right now, they were in different books.

His brain was more than ready, and eagerly skipping ahead to when he would be able to fight against his opponents without any trouble at all. He could finally avoid getting punched in the face! He had no idea how useful even these dreamed skills would have been, but that was the way things fell out. Whatever the future held, he was determined to do his damned best to make the best effort he could for himself and his team.

He was feeling good about his purchases. A DVD that promised he would look like the particularly muscular man on the cover in 90 days, or his money back. Not that he would take that nice offer for granted, as he would feel guilty about using something for that long and then just returning it, but it was a very nice gesture by the company and it went a long way in putting his faith in their products. He thus went out to buy their brand of weights, none over 10 pounds of course, and something called a shake weight. He even got one of those little electronic pads that was supposed to zap his midsection into a six pack.

It was going to be awesome. This was what they meant by conditioning, right? He was pretty sure. He would work out with the weights a few minutes every day, not wanting to push himself, and then see what the DVD was like. It turned out it was a very rigorous and very off putting recording. Something about being crazy and only crazy people could do the work out and survive.

Grant wasn’t sure who they were marketing to, exactly, but he was not sure he was in the right demographic. Still, he had purchased the thing and though he had that nice money back guarantee he had now opened the package and watched the DVD for a bit, thus making it a used copy.

He could not return a used copy, especially without actually using it properly. Maybe he would take a few more weeks with the hand weights and zappy thing, then try the DVD again. It might look so difficult because he had no experience what so ever in the art of working out. Really, he had not realized it would be so complicated. But he was up for the challenge! Because he had promised and, as simple as he was, it was keeping him focused and entertained.

So he was at least getting that out of the whole thing, regardless of the physical results.

If there were any.
