Welcome to the Wildlife of Masquerade, a record of all the currently known species of plants and animals that are native to my home planet of Masquerade!
"Ash... do you have your telepathy stone on?"
Of course I do! *double checks* ninja
sweatdrop "Well, at least they actually heard you..."
The next few posts will contain a list of the animals and plants we've encountered so far, along with a brief description and maybe a picture at some point in the future. Maybe even links to journal entries and adventures if you want to look! Feel free to post additional information on current entries or new entries all together to get added to the list. Every bit helps!

a m i n a l sWe've seen a great variety of animals. Unfortunately most of the ones we've really had much dealing with are the ones that want to eat us. sweatdrop Rade Large feline creatures, fully sentient, with territory issues and bad attitudes. Their leader, Baron, seems to want Io, Ice's Masque, dead. Probably the others too. We've had a lot of trouble with the Rade, mostly because of him and the proximity of their caverns to our base. ROUS Rodents of unusual size, these rats are monsters due to their tunneling ability and seemingly coordinated swarming attacks. We've only had to fight them off once. Either they learned their lesson the first time, or they're taking their time in regrouping. Evil Fangy Things! (You can thank Ash for that name. xd ) These snake/lizard beasts are highly dangerous. Thankfully we've never seen them outside of the Palace ruins. They have large fangs and are obviously poisonous, though as far as I know we haven't had to deal with someone getting bitten yet. They're large enough to make a meal of a colonist, but they seem to be a major food source for the Rade. Great Beasts Big. Really big. No, bigger than that. Almost there... They're furry, have big claws, big teeth, and big horns. No one who's currently on Masquerade has seen them close enough to give more details than that. Kirin These single horned, horse-like creatures run in herds of varying sizes. The males have larger horns than the females, and they also have spurs on their hind legs right above their very large feet which they seem to use for dueling and defense. The ~Poppy~ Bandersnatch Small, brightly colored birds. Their feathers seem to have no set color patterns, nor does there seem to be any distinction between how bright the males and females are. They also seem to like to throw pinecones at me and steal my shiny belt clips. >< They have a rather odd wing structure, rather like a pterodactyl. They have small fingers on their elongated arms and can use them as "hands" to cling or walk with as well as fly. They seem to be both herbivores and insectivores. The ~Greater~ Bandersnatch Predatory birds seen from a distance. They're darker in color than the Poppies and much larger, but seem to share the same wing structure. Catacomb Dweller A creature somewhat larger than an earth horse, with a body structure resembling a canine. Most of its body is covered with what appear to be quills. It has large ears and very good hearing to compensate for a lack of eyesight. It has elongated fingers with hooked claws to allow it to cling to cavern walls, and a long, thin, whiplike tail with a bony club at the end. Antelope? They dwell in the plains with the Kirin, and appear very similar to certain Earth antelope. A couple of them were caught during a hunting party, but escaped during the confusion during a party in which the camp was attacked with fireworks.

l e a f l i e sThere seem a great number of plants inhabiting our area alone, from a variety of moss and lichen to several shrubs and trees... I'll only put down the ones that are useful, dangerous, or unusual enough to warrant attention. Apple Tree? One of the few plants confirmed as edible, this tree looks very similar to an apple tree, and the fruit looks almost the same.
