Yuri is normally a pretty easy going guy that can take just about anything. He doesn't mind camping, doesn't mind sleeping in the woods, even without equipment. He can handle that, no prob. What sucks is doing so after you've had the crap beat out of you. It wasn't a fun night, to say the least. Somehow he'd managed to get some rest, but it wasn't very good rest, and now Yuri was walking back to town looking like he'd been through hell and back.

His jaw was swollen and horribly discolored on one side of his face, and there was a cut on the other side. His hair was disheveled and there were some leaves sticking in it. Plus he looked rather worn out. He was taking it slow, since he was also suffering from a concussion. Damn bird. He really just wanted an ice pack right now.

To make matters worse, he didn't have his sword. There was no telling what happened to it, and the ID in his wallet was missing. The latter wasn't all that big of a deal though, he was mostly upset about the sword.

Repede, rested and refreshed unlike his partner, walked at Yuri's side as they finally made their way to the outskirts of town.

Luke spent his days rested, but it was hard to feel very refreshed in spite of that. Even if had made the resolution to improve as a trainer, it often felt as though he were standing still, stagnating like a summer puddle after a storm. He didn't mind clear skies, but after his bold declaration that they wouldn't stand aside and let the League take care of things for them, he wished he could inspire some sort of feeling of progress.

Evaluating and berating himself wasn't good for anything but extra stress, though. And while there certainly wasn't anything wrong with feeling a little pressure now and again, Luke generally found that he felt much better about things if he took a little time here and there to get out of the city and divert his thoughts to lighter matters. It was this finding that had brought him to the grassy, tree-dappled area that gradated from the city to the forest, a book resting casually in his lap. He'd done a fair bit of reading during the time he was forbidden to leave his house, if only because it was a small feat to disguise the stories as studying materials. There was something oddly pleasant about the feeling of the corner of a page between his fingertips.

What he couldn't have expected, engaged in a story or not, was for someone to come trundling up out of the woods like some kind of zombie. Even less would he have expected to have recognized said zombie-like individual, and he was momentarily lost for a reaction but to stare wide-eyed. Eventually he found a proper response to the situation, and the book went disregarded on the ground as he stood to meet his friend, "What the heck are you doing out there, looking like that?! Are you all right?" He couldn't help but thing of the woman in town telling him about the importance of knowing first aid.

He had hoped to retreat to his apartment before anyone, especially anyone that he knew, would see him. The man didn't look very pretty at the moment, and he knew it. Plus he just wanted to crash on his bed and stay there. But no, fate was laughing at him today.

Yuri paused as he heard someone's voice, blinking and tilting his gaze to the side as he realized it was familiar. Great. Putting a hand on his hip, the man closed his eyes and breathed out of his nose in a long sigh.

"Ahm fine. Sh'long shtory." Yeah and it hurt to talk too, so he didn't really feel like telling it either.

Repede groaned at that, and turned his eye toward Luke before sitting.

Yeah, that was easy to believe. "Right, the only way you're 'fine' is if I fell asleep and this is a dream." Repede's response to his human's words didn't do a whole lot to validate Yuri's claim either. He murmured a passing "hang on" as he ducked to the small bag on the ground that had accompanied him. Being somewhat knowledgeable in the application of first aid didn't give him the foresight to carry the necessary tools, but he did have one thing that could have been useful. He held it up offeringly, the condensation forming on the surface indicating its cool temperature, "Water?"

What? You calling him a liar? You mean that huge bruise on his face doesn't look like it feels awesome? Well... yeah, he supposes maybe he's not really all that all right. But he's not dying! That's a plus. As long as he can walk and function relatively well, that counts as fine.

Yuri would probably have something to say to Luke's sarcasm, but his face is kinda messed up, so he doesn't. The offer of water though, earns Luke a glance and he takes the bottle. "Thanks," he mutters before unscrewing the lid and taking a quick drink. He then presses the cool surface of the bottle against his cheek and bites back a hiss of pain. But the way his face contorts tells it all.

Luke remained crouching by the bag, absently observing for a few moments before speaking up, "So I'm guessing that asking what happened is off-limits?" Insisting he was fine while looking like that was a pretty solid indication of not wanting to talk about it. He wasn't going to force an explanation, but he wouldn't pretend he wasn't curious either.

"Yeah," Yuri mumbled out. It wasn't that he didn't like Luke or distrust him or anything but well... he was kinda in pain. Long explanations were off limits. Maybe if Luke asked when it didn't look like a purple orange was growing out of his face, Yuri would tell him a bit about it.

That bottle wasn't an ice pack, but it felt a little better to have that cool temperature soak into his jaw.

Fair enough, Luke was prepared to respect that. As he came to that decision, though, he caught sight of a stranger appearing slightly behind Yuri. She must have come from within the forest, he determined, to have avoided detection so easily. Before he could draw attention to her, though, she drew attention to herself.

"Wow! Someone could sure use an anti-inflammatory tablet!"

Even Yuri was slightly startled by that, but then... he was kinda preoccupied with injuries and stuff, so his reflexes and observation skills were a bit hampered. Repede though, had noticed right away, but like Luke, she announced her presence before he could act. The raven haired man turned to look at where the exclamation had come from, giving her a bit of an odd look.

Huh?

The girl blinked expectantly as she received silence in reply. Tough crowd. "Anti-inflammatoire, oui?" she repeated, as though changing the language would change the response. "Probably a cold compress too, really. And a hairbrush, if we're being honest." She rooted around in a satchel as she spoke, eventually presenting a small bottle labeled as a generic pain-killer. She shook it slightly in her hand to rattle the contents, "I'd lend you my hairbrush too but I don't want a whole bunch of forest caught in the bristles. You understand."

There was something just a little creepy about this girl suddenly appearing out of no where and offering him drugs. If Yuri had a mother, she probably would have told him never to take such things from people he didn't know.

"Shorry, I dun take candy from shtranghers."

His witty remarks had significantly less impact when talking around a huge bulge on his face. Just the same, he was still a bit wary. The cold compress did sound like a good idea though. And yeah.. no offense about the hairbrush. She could have lice for all he knew.

She placed her hands on her hips with a dramatic huff, "So you're already all friendly with the doctor when you visit the clinic or with the pharmacist when you have a prescription filled? I'll have you know I'm a proper nurse, my good man!"

(Sounds legit.)

"Well, I thought I'd be a little nice since I have to be all terrible, but if you're not interested then there's no helping that." The shade of the thicket was pierced by a pair of dimly glowing eyes that indicated the invisible source of the Telekinesis aimed restrictively at Repede.

Yuri just stood there holding that bottle to his face, looking at this strange lady who hadn't even said her name, with an incredulous look. Yeah, she was -really- convincing, that one. However his brow furrowed slightly at the "terrible" part in her words. Um?

Then he heard a growl behind him, and turned to look just in time as his dog was being lifted off the ground by some unseen before. The Growlithe's paws scrambling to get back to the ground, but to no avail.

"Repede?" Yuri then turned back towards the strange lady. "Hey! What're you-"

Luke wasn't really sure what to make of the sudden appearance of the young woman, and, given that she hadn't addressed or even seemed to notice him, he was content to just watch for a while. Repede's sudden levitation, however, was indication enough that the time for watching idly had passed. The boy rose to his feet; Yuri voiced objection enough for both of them so he felt no need to add his own words, but wasn't going to let the situation progress any further without being prepared to react to it.

"What am I?" the woman interjected, a faintly feral glint to her gaze. "In a world where murderers in prison get top-notch medical treatment paid for by the taxes of the families of their victims, I'm a good person." In a sharp, agile motion, she took a swift kick at Yuri's ankles to knock his legs out from under him.

And then Yuri was on his back and seeing stars... again. Okay he was getting pretty sick of this. He didn't get really pissed very often but he was already having a bad day here.

"Oh, that does it!"

He jumped to his feet, and while he was able to ignore the pain, he couldn't shake off the vertigo that came with being concussed. Didn't mean he wouldnt try though.

Girl or not, he wasn't taking this crap and threw a punch in Arcadie's direction and... missed.
