((Warning: this is going to get graphic a bit.)) Being a redcap was not easy.
Sure, it meant that fighting was a bit easier. Ruadh was more frenzied than his fellow knights, more enthusiastic, willing to be more vicious and cruel. He wasn't held back by doubts or fears. He was strong, he was capable, and he had a lust for killing that his comrades lacked. He was also fast. He was proud of his own capabilities in fighting and killing. He was proud of his place in this strange little herd, and for the first time in his life, he felt himself interested in other stars as something besides a resource.
Which led, inevitably, to the one downside of being a redcap. With the practiced air of someone who'd performed a complex task for so long that it had become simple reflex for them, he tracked down and killed a rabbit, one about the size of his own head. Plenty big enough. Hooves sharpened on stones slit the belly of the creature, and he pulled it apart further to open a fluid-filled cavity. Plop into the cavity went his still-damp hat. It didn't take long for it to take more fluid on. With the major task of the day thus completed, Ruadh took a few minutes to look around at his surroundings and to lick the excess blood from his hooves. A messy task to be sure, but a necessary one. He didn't want to know what would happen if he didn't keep his hat wet.
The smell of death and blood was so heavy in the area that he noticed nothing else, not a breeze blowing away from him, not the rustle of wind in the foliage, not another living creature anywhere around him.

"Smell's like there are ghouls about heh." the strange parasite laughed.
D was already aware of the thick smell of blood hanging in the air but he didn't respond he was looking already for the direction whence it had come. Ghouls meant a vampire was nearby even if it wasn't the one he was looking for, the one he sought left a different trail of events not ghouls. Regardless these creatures needed to put put down and their growth stopped.
His heightened senses located the source, the parasite being oddly silent for a change, D moved swiftly toward it source, faster than a regular starborn should have been able, he moved without a sound despite his bulky clothing and heavy sword, but again he was not simply a regular starborn, nor did he care if he was encroaching on another herds territory he would go where his hunt led him.
The Hunter drew his sword as he approached the red capped ghoul, but upon closer inspection he was just starborn, a vile one at that, regardless, the mess that surrounded him was telling enough, D readied himself to strike at the other stallion best get it over quickly.
((Sorry he doesn't really talk much.))

Ruadh pawed at the ground with one hoof, scraping up mast and loam. Sometimes he did this, sometimes he didn't--burying a spent animal. Right now he felt like burying it. Tomorrow, he might leave it on the ground, or on a stone, or hung from a tree. Today, though, he felt like burying it, and with the ease of practice, he made a hole deep enough to bury the rabbit's semi-exsanguinated body in, then picked it up by the ears and dropped it in the hole. He scraped the earth back over it and stomped the ground flat. It was only then that he chanced to scent the air and notice something new, something beyond the blood--someone else was there. Here, where he felt...well, safe wasn't perhaps the best word, but it was a good enough word, someone else had snuck up on him. Somewhere in the back of his mind, a voice added in protest that this was the territory of the Shadow Herd, and no one should have made it past the border. That voice was swiftly silenced, as was the voice that reminded him that as a death knight, it really was his job to protect the borders, and he was probably supposed to be on patrol right now.
Hat on? Yes. Good. Hat wet? Yes. Good. Ruadh turned around, nostrils flared for the scent. Yes, there he was! Some star burdened with clothing and a long piece of metal. A sword. Well, that was an unusual piece of kit he hadn't seen in a while. The redcap pawed at the ground and planted his bloodred eyes on the stranger to show that he knew the star was there and was waiting for the other to make the first move. He was quiet. There was, as of yet, no reason to make a move.
((Ruadh doesn't talk much either xDD ))

"He Buried it, interesting thought isn't it?" the parasite spoke slightly muffled. "A creature with no remorse buried its victim."
D didn't think of his clothing as a burden, nor his long sword, the stallion before him didn't seem to do anything other than threaten him. D waited for the other stallion to make a move, he had still murdered and dismembered the creature before he had buried it, he hadn't eaten it, just dismembered it.
He had done it for fun. D could not let such a thing pass, but he had to be sure
"So what are you going to do?" the Parasite asked seemingly amused, the stallion didn't answer. not the parasite at least.
"Why did you kill that creature?" he spoke in his stoic voice even and cool like a nights wind. His Sword ready, everything at the ready his muscles tense. D doubted he would get out of this without a fight against this blood luster. This stallion worse than a mindless ghoul.
(We're at a standstill xD)

The stallion spoke, and it took Ruadh a second to realize this. He was...well, not slow, but his mind did not think in terms of words or reasons. He did what he needed to do. It wasn't what every star needed to do, but it was what he needed to do. And that was all that mattered. And if it took a second for Ruadh to realize that the stranger was talking to him, it took a few more seconds for him to remember that, oh yeah, he could talk, too. And that he should talk. A response was called for. "You are...an intruder," he said at last. His voice was a thin, raspy one, as if he was calling out to the other from the bottom of a grave. It was the sound of a weathered granite tombstone, so touched by the ravages of time that the writing was illegible, the meaning lost to the ages. "I am...redcap. I kill. I survive. There is no survival...without killing." It was the same thing he had told Moloch so long ago. How long ago had it been? He couldn't even remember. But he knew, oh, he knew, that he had told someone about it a very long time ago. And yes, it was probably Moloch. The old leader. Gone now. But he wasn't. Ruadh was still around.
"You shouldn't be here," he said. "Run, run, stranger, while you can. Always more blood for the cap, I need, I need." With that, he took a few clumsy steps towards the other stallion.

The dhampir had only expected a hungry savage growl in response this was unexpected. though it's answer was expected, he only seemed to care about killing.
"An abnormal Ghoul, would you look at that... Still clinging to some sort of life" D continued to ignore the parasite
an intruder? Had this been where he'd been initially buried? or perhaps some sick individual had tried to tame a hoard of Ghouls. Things as they were it seemed like it might be one of those. This one was all by himself. If there was one ghoul here likely more were not to fat away. He did talk a lot for a raspy voiced Ghoul. like a residual memory talking for him.
"Heh, someone named it, Redcap How cute" came the parasites mocking voice. There was definitely something wrong here.
The pale stallion was not afraid, having seen more ghastly creatures through his life, one ghoul was nothing. He made sure to keep his senses trained on as much as he could one ghoul, alone was too strange. like it had wandered from the main group as a distraction. With so many clothes it was hard to tell D had tensed ready for a fight.

The intruder's dark eyes flickered in response to Ruadh's growl as if in surprise. He seemed just a little distracted, too, as if he was listening to something. Ruadh's ears twitched, but the goblin couldn't hear anything besides the regular forest sounds. Now that he'd had some time to think about it, he didn't like this situation at all. The clothes were masking the stranger's muscle movements. He couldn't tell if the intruder was about to attack him or not. He bared his teeth and tensed his own muscles in anticipation of attack. Big sword. Got to avoid that.
"This is Shadow herd land. You are intruding on it. By order of the Queen and the Death General, you are intruding, and you will be turned back. I hope you bleed. Need more blood. Always need more blood." Ruadh was a creature driven by that single purpose. There existed no force in the universe that could stop him, short of an actual order by his commanding officers not to attack. There weren't many in the herd that outranked him. Trespassers definitely didn't qualify. "You will pay in blood."

D's Expression didn't change, he still didn't like this guy. He was certainly a monster of some degree, but maybe he wasn't born one he acquired it. There were many unfortunate who strayed down that path. Often causing mass suffering he wondered how many this stallion had actually killed. He disliked killing people but, this would have to be an exception.
This situation sounded awfully familiar, hadn't he come across it before? In his not too distant past? The threat was also all too familiar. He'd trespassed on shadow lands? that too was familiar, much of the land belonging to nobility was thought to be cursed perhaps he was a beast made by one and may prove more formidable?
"Pay for your crimes," he said still waiting for Rudah to attack, he' didn't want to waste the movement unless he had to.
The Parasite chuckled quietly out of earshot of the ghoulish starborn redcap.

Ruadh was...well, not stupid, but certainly not wise. What intelligence he had, he rarely used, but just this once, it kicked him hard enough in the back of the head to actually start using it. Not to prevent himself from fighting, goodness, no! It was experience and memory, not one of the Thirteen Signs, for crying out loud! No. This was something quite different. The redcap's eyes, red as old blood, narrowed and he pawed at the ground. "Crimessss..." he hissed. "What crimes? Lust for blood. Not a crime. A desire, a need. Not a crime to be what you have always been. Not a crime to survive, to live. But you, you are trespassing! And I, I am a death knight. Death Knights, we are required to force out intruders. The law.
"If either of us are criminals, it is not I. It is you. Turn back. Or I will eviscerate you." And wear your intestines like a feather boa and your liver as a festive hat. But that wasn't nearly as scary to say, was it.
