Hey guys, I wasn't quite sure, but I'm guessing this is the right spot to post it, if I'm wrong let me know. I was playing a Altmer Mage, but I kept getting my butt handed to me, I prefer using the good old fashioned sword which I find more reliable. I figure I'd restart the game and make an Orc Barbarian this time. I'm thinking of using light armor so I don't lose alot of stamina plus Barbarians are known to wear light armor. I'm thinking of using 2-handed weapons like greatswords, but carry a bow and arrows in case I need to kill someone or something from a distance. I figured I'd choose Orc because of their Berserker ability or whatever it's called for those tough battles I will be getting into. I want to become a werewolf which I believe will help even more, and I heard you have to join the Companions to become one. What do you have to do in order for them to turn you? Also, I'd like your opinions and tips on it and feel free to change any of it if you wish.

For an Orc Barbarian you could try simply putting points into Stamina and health and then putting your skill perks into light armor (or the armor of your preference), two handed (again preference), alchemy (for gold or potions) , smithing (make gold or armor faster).

you may also want optional skills such as enchanting for spell resistances or fortifications and restoration just from healing yourself throughout the game, but not worry about putting perks into it.

As for learning archery as a ranged combat skill, unless you want to be a sneaky barbarian, simply finding and using the word walls and dragon shouts throughout skyrim might actually be enough and also means that you save time switching between weapons and fumbling with hotkeys thereby letting you get right into smashing faces sooner.

Then again I almost never play Orc Barbarian so I wouldn't particularly know. If you really want to do marksman though it is pretty good.

I was also thinking of using a Nord, can't make up my mind. What I'm debating is which class would be better for it and which racial ability i better, the Nord's Battle Cry (or whatever it's called) or the Orc Berserk (I think it's called)

I would normally say that orcs make the better heavy hitters but in skyrim that 50% cold resistence will serve you better since it is the main type of spells used in the game so go with nord.
