It was an ordinary day and Asch was doing his ordinary thing. The young agent had come down to the training rooms to train his own Pokemon as he often did. Naturally he wasn't the only one that practiced such things and thus he passed some occupied training rooms, seeking one out that was empty.

Asch had a lot on his mind lately, though. And as he walked, his expression was a bit of a distant one. Green eyes staring ahead of him with an unreadable expression. Riding on his shoulder was Tyke. The Zorua definitely missed his master's long hair, under which he was able to often hide, but no longer.

The last few days had been rather painfulfor Kratos - not physically, but rather emotionally and mentally draining. Seeing two of his oldest and most trusted pokémon suffer from the injuries they had received at the hands of a human hurt more than being seriously injured himself. Granted, he hadn't escaped the fight against Yuri entirely unscathed, but the minimal bandaging around his calf was nothing compared to the shoulder wound Martel had suffered, and paled in comparison to the sword wound Yuan had taken in his wing.

It was fortunate that the wound had been at just the right dept and angle so as not to deal permanent damage to the pidgeot's wing. Yuan would fly again, and even carry his trainer - but it was going to take time. Physical therapy was a must, though, for both pokémon, and today their trainer was working with them on exactly that. Kratos was using one of the training rooms and had these two injured exercising lightly, so that neither of them lost too much of their conditioning while they were injured. Unfortunately, tending a fussy pair of injured pokémon - pokémon that had decided forget species boundaries and held a bond that Kratos could only compare to mates - meant that the rest of the party went mostly unattended.

In this case, the 'rest of the party' meant Zero, who he could see floating around idly out of the corner of his eye. Suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, something changed. Zero darted out of sight for a moment, and when he reappeared he was swinging around a sword of all things. Kratos had half-risen to take the time to retrieve the deadly weapon from the ghost within half a moment... unfortunately, it was already too late.

Zero, who was happily swinging the sword around with his mouth and entirely unaware of just how much danger he was putting everyone around him in, forgot himself for just long enough to let out a gloating "Drea drea!". Normally this would have merely dropped the sword to the ground, but since he was in the middle of swinging it, the sword instead flew across the room. Hopefully there wasn't anybody close to entering this particular training room...

Asch was just walking along, minding his own business when... Sudddenly sword!

The weapon went sailing through the doorway of the training room that Kratos was occupying, and into the hallway. There was a glint of metal as the weapon whizzed past one red head, mere centimeters from his face. Its trajectory causing it to embed itself in a wall with a loud "THOK!" and it wobbled for a bit before going still.

Asch stood there, eyes wide and teeth clenched in an expression of pure shock. Fortunately, he had quick reflexes and had managed to stop just as the sword came flying through the door. Just a step or two sooner and that thing would now be embedded in his skull. A drop of sweat rolled down his cheek.

Eventually his wide green eyes turned towards the door to see man and Pokemon there. He soon snapped out of it and now his rage face was put on.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?!"

To his credit, Kratos wasn't a man easily fazed - not even by yelling superiors. Only a slight twitch of his eyebrows betrayed his irritation as he stalked gracefully over to the misdreavus... and grabbed it by the skirt. "Zero. You do not throw weapons. Nor, for that matter, to take them without informing your trainer that you have done so." Without letting up his grip on the misdreavus and fully aware that if he really wanted to the ghost could just phase out, he turned to his superior and offered a short ow.

"My apologies, sir. It was a grievous error on my part to turn my back on this misdreavus." As he spoke, Martel limped over, the leafeon's green-eyed gaze soft and concerned, and behind her came the hobbling pidgeot, crooning worriedly, concerned about what might be about to happen to his dear trainer.

As Kratos was chiding his Misdreavus, Asch turned and violently pulled the sword from the wall. He then stalked into the training room, and when Kratos bowed, he would find the business end of that sword pointed at his face.

"Damn right it was a grievous error. Are you so stupid that you can't even control your own Pokemon?! I should have you reported for this I-" and suddenly Asch stopped, a strange look on his face as he realized something. He then pulled back the sword and held it in both of his palms, staring at the blade.

"... Where did you get this?"

Were Kratos a weaker, more cowardly man, he might have been truly intimidated by the sword pointed at his face. However, he was not and as such the only expression he gave was one of calm acceptance - whatever discipline was given was something he was simply fated to take, and he would deal with it and move on. Zero, however... well, there was a pokémon that was going to be kept in storage for a little while except when Kratos was actively working with him. He, along with the small shuppet Rion, was just too immature for use as an active team member.

As he was contemplating this, however, the agent's train of thought seemed to derail as he examined the sword. Was that some kind of recognition on his face? Or something else entirely? As he noticed this, Martel bumped gently against his leg with her head, offering him the quiet comfort of her continued presence at his side. Kratos would never mention it, but he was grateful for the reassurance. It gave him the focus he needed in order to provide an answer to the expectant agent.

"I believe that is the sword the Yuri Lowell used against myself and my team, sir. The misdreavus must have taken it at some point while I was dealing with the injuries the other pokémon received." By avoiding the use of Zero's name, Kratos was letting the little ghost know just how much trouble he was in - and Zero knew it, too, judging from the way e sagged against his trainer's hand, large black eyes brimming with ashamed tears.

"Yuri Lowell?" he repeated with a frown, not recognizing the name in the least. "Never heard of him. You had some kind of encounter with this... person?" Man? Woman? He wasn't really sure with a name like that.

Asch held the sword up again, examining the blade and then slashing it to the side with a practiced hand. It was not his usual style of weapon, but it was a nice sword, he could certainly see that.

"What do you know about them?"

He had his own reasons for being curious, otherwise he wouldn't have given a damn.

Tyke, still perched on Asch's shoulder, and who had been visibly shaken by the whole ordeal, was now quietly staring at the other Pokemon. He eventually jumped down from his master's shoulder and sat at his feet, peering curiously at Martel.

Kratos nodded, keeping his focus on his superior while absently reaching down to pat Martel on the head - a brief, silent reassurance that everything was alright and that she needn't worry. Really, that leafeon worried about him almost as much as Miette did. Overly-motherly pokémon, the both of them."Yes, sir. While on a mission. There was a minor altercation,. The misdreavus must have picked his sword up while I was completing my original assignment."

The misdreavus. This misdreavus. Oh, gosh, was Zero ever in trouble. he had messed up big time, hadn't he? The little white ghost whimpered once, but fell silent at a quick glare from his trainer. This was not going to end well for him, was it?

"I know little at this time, save that he served with the Grand Ile Military in the past." Kratos could mention the man's pokémon, but he didn't really feel that it was important. This, on the other hand, might be - or at least of some significance.

An annoyed look briefly flashed across Asch's face and he spoke impatiently. "Stop calling me "sir". It sounds wrong coming from someone like you." The man almost sounded like a robot, and was definitely several years his senior. Didn't this guy have any personality whatsoever? Or was he just going to continually stand there and drone at him.

Oh, he should probably tell him what to call him then.

"My name is Asch. Agent Asch will suffice if you insist on being formal." Now that that was out of the way...

"Hmph, I can see that. The Guarde's emblem is on the blade." He pointed to a mark that was on the base of the blade, near the hilt. "This isn't a standard issue sword though. It was probably custom made and belongs to someone of the rank of Captain or higher."

Someone like him? Interesting. Apparently this agent wasn't all that interested in observing proper protocol when the grunt he was talking to was also his elder. A part of Kratos wondered why, but the rest of his mind was focused on this situation and therefore didn't see reason to comment on it. He could see the annoyance in the younger man's eyes, but didn't particularly care since it was originating from what seemed to be a personal opinion rather than an organizational one.

"Agent Asch, then," he said simply, and nodded as the mark on the blade was pointed out. "The ranking is... unsurprising given the level of combat skill he demonstrated when attacking my team."

Martel blinked at the Zorua and sniffed at him before waving her tail in greeting. She sat stiffly, favoring her injured shoulder, but seemed otherwise alright. She dipped her head a little, trying to indicate that neither of them should make a scene, lest they disturb their trainers.

The pidgeot, on the other hand, looked like he was about to tuck his head under a wing and go to sleep. Yuan was tired and sore and grumpy and was entirely uninterested in any of the goings-on right now, because damn it his wing hurt and hurt wings are the most frustrating things ever when you're a bird.

He had his reasons, or so he would say. Asch though was more focused on the sword at the moment than anything else.

Tyke smiled widely at the Leafeon and waved his little tail also as he greeted her back. Then asked what happened to her as he noticed she was injured. In a quiet tone of course, but Asch still noticed the conversing Pokemon and glanced down at them, taking note of Martel's injury.

"Why did this man attack you?"

If there was a high ranking officer from Grande Ile, former or not, going around and attacking members of Team Rocket... it could be a problem.

Hm. Kratos needed to answer his superior, and withholding information was not something that would benefit anyone. But at the same time, he wasn't exactly eager to go into detail about the incident, not for the second time. Giving his initial report had been headache enough, and his irritation with the situation he had been forced to deal with presented itself in the tiniest downward twitch of his eyebrows,

"He was playing the vigilante, sir. My report on the incident is on file if you wish to peruse the details at a later time," he said by way of explanation, and watched Zero with a contemplative gaze. Maybe he would be better off shifting the ghost type to somewhere that he wouldn't be able to cause quite so much trouble...

Martel sniffed daintily and licked at her bandaged shoulder, stating that a human thought he was a pokémon and tried to fight with her. She thought that he came off worse, really, but he was kind of a pain to deal with. Were all weapon-wielding humans that silly, or was it just the one she had encountered? Did he know?

"I see," Asch said thoughtfully. He would have to look into that. The influx of people from Grande Ile was a bit... disconcerting. Especially now that it seemed a military officer was around, even if former. Asch recognized that response of "I don't want to repeat it so go look it up yourself" and decided not to ask for any further details. He would have acted the same way after all, so he could respect that.

Tyke tilted his head at Martel, telling her that his human uses a sword too. He spars with Saber all the time, and its part of their training. But he'd never seen his master actually attack Pokemon like that, though.

"Do you mind if I take this?" Asch said, not so rude as to just commandeer the weapon when Kratos... or rather his Pokemon, had apprehended it from some heroic idiot.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 10, 2012 3:16 pm

Kratos didn't show it, but he was rather relieved when it became obvious that Asch wasn't going to push the issue further. That incident had been a terrible mess; one that he wasn't very eager to recall more than absolutely necessary. Some incidents just didn't look any better no matter how many times you retold the story.

Martel shivered all over and turned her head, glancing back at her pidgeot companion before returning her attention to Tyke. Humans playing with swords was just fine, in her opinion, but the minute they put a blade like that through someone's shoulder, or worse, their wing, it went from acceptable to deplorable. She thought that was particularly terrible.

"I have no need of it," Kratos said simply, and frowned at Zero as he spoke. "In fact, I believe it would be better for all concerned if it were to go into your possession."

The words 'where the misdreavus can't get to it', hung, unspoken, in the air after Kratos had finished speaking. Zero noticed them, judging by the way he let out a quiet "Drea..." and literally sunk through the floor.

Tyke blinked at Martel. But humans don't have any way of protecting themselves like Pokemon do. Using weapons was how they did it since they can't use Faint Attack or anything. He doesn't see anything wrong with humans arming and defending themselves. Especially if they didn't have one of them around to protect them. That's what his master's sword is for.

Asch nodded and lowered the sword so that he held it at his side. That sounded reasonable to him. The Misdreavus certainly shouldn't be in possession of it. He might actually hurt someone like he almost did.

"Very well, I will let this go. This time. However, I think it's reasonable to expect you to get a better handle on your Pokemon. Or at least, be more observant of their behaviors."
