It was a... a nearly normal day.

He'd got up and made coffee, but he drank it on the sofa watching the television rather than out on the balcony. He hadn't been out on the balcony yet. After coffee he'd had breakfast, gone for his usual run, and come back for a shower. Then housework; there were floors to sweep and laundry to do. Clean the shower too, it needed doing.

Lunch. He didn't want anything hot so he made a couple of sandwiches, and then he fed the pokemon. Viktor still looked listless, forlorn. He didn't blame him, he felt much the same himself. He'd probably feel better if he spent time with his young friends, or got hold of Nadja to arrange a meet up... but that would mean explaining and he didn't want to do that. Luna still didn't seem troubled at all, but then he didn't know why he expected her to be given she hadn't cared in the first place. Even Teazer seemed more upset than she did, though the feline only showed it by being more troublesome than she usually was. To keep her from scratching the furniture up he sat down on the floor in the middle of the living room with her, and brushed her creamy soft fur. He thought about calling to ask if any clues had been found, but decided against it. For all their pretty promises at the party he didn't trust the authorities as far as he could throw a Steelix. They would find nothing, and there was no point wasting his time.

Today was an almost normal day, but he still didn't feel quite normal.

He kept brushing Teazer.

It hadn't been a normal day for Seraphine - but then again, the week or two had been nothing if not completely abnormal. All of the talks and conversations, the suggestions and questions and concerns, everything she had taken as baseless lies and slanderous insults... No, she still didn't want to believe it; but everything that had happened the past week had come to such a mournful head today that she didn't have the strength or the will to fight it anymore.

Honestly she didn't have either of those things to do anything with anymore, so how she arrived at Dith's building and found his apartment was a complete mystery. Probably a combination of Luna carrying her and Mordecai shepherding her along as gently as an extremely heavy hunk of metal was able. Either way, Sera somehow found herself in front of Dith's door with Mordecai hovering nearby with all of her things, even Luna's saddle and extra bags. Luna herself had returned herself to her pokeball before entering the building at all.

Still bewildered and confused - mostly still just in complete and utter, debilitating shock, actually - all the girl could do was stare at the door. Through it, more like, or past it; regardless, she wasn't looking at it, but was staring off into space in the door's general direction, swaying ever so slightly on her bare feet. Bare because of the run through the woods - one heel had broken, so she'd taken them off and they'd ended up... somewhere, perhaps in a bag. The woods had also taken their toll on her pretty dress and her hair - had caught both in their grasping branches, pulled tears into the fabric and left leaves and bits of twigs in her hair. Even her legs and arms had suffered - the former more than the latter - with various cuts and scrapes and in some instances, a bit of dirt where she'd fallen.

"Tang," Mordecai hummed worriedly, nothing if not completely and wholeheartedly concerned for his beloved Mistress.

Seraphine literally jumped at the sudden noise, her head jerking to one side to stare at him with widened, damp eyes set over tear-stained cheeks. She looked rather dumbfounded. He made an encouraging gesture towards the door though, and she somehow got the hint as she raised a hand and knocked on the door. She very likely didn't even know whose door this was, just that she had somehow gotten from the park to this door that she was now knocking at. While it was something that would greatly concern other people, it didn't even enter her thoughts.

The knock startled him and - insulted by his sudden movement - Teazer hissed and scampered off into his bedroom. Sighing and rubbing his face Dith got to his feet, realizing that he hadn't shaved today but failing to care; with his reasonably pale hair it wasn't all that obvious anyway. Trying not to look too dispirited he unlocked the door and pulled it open... and stared.

Sera, but looking nothing like herself. Battered, dishevelled, no shoes. She had been crying until very recently. "Sera!" he exclaimed, now looking horrified rather than gloomy. "Did somebody hurt you? Agh, ебать, come in!" Resting a gentle hand on the girl's shoulder Dith steered her inside, leaving the door for the pokemon to deal with; if Sera's Metang didn't shut it then Zla would take care of it.

His own concerns sliding to the back of his mind Dith gently brushed Sera's hair back from her tear-stained face. "What happened to you?"

"Dith?" If she were in her right mind, she wouldn't have been surprised to find her pokemon had directed her here, but as she wasn't all she could do was ..not much, actually. She allowed herself to be steered into his apartment, not even noticing the transition to plush carpet that her soiled, bare feet were probably dirtying. He was speaking to her, that much she realized, but she couldn't quite comprehend the words. She should; she should know the words he was saying and should respond, but it was like some block was stuck and the wheels in her head couldn't turn like they should. She couldn't.

Mordecai followed them in as carefully as he could - he didn't want to drop any of her things, but it was also very hard to fit them all through the door, which he also didn't want to damage since he was quite good at unintentionally breaking things - and when he finally succeeded he cast around for someone else to close the door. "Metang?" He would absolutely love to close the door, but both his arms and all his claws were 110% full and he feared if he bumped it shut, it would slam - or worse, break.

All the movement and noises and words seemed to be enough to knock the monkey wrench in her head loose, but the wheels almost didn't know how to function enough to work properly at this point. Still, she started to look a bit more aware of her surroundings, if not herself just yet. If she were in her right mind, she would be so appalled at her own appearance she'd likely faint. Good thing she wasn't either of those things. "What.. happened...?" What happened? What did happen? It was all such a blur at this point; a confused, horrifying, terrible blur. "I.. let home," she started, pale green eyes shifting to Mordecai briefly and all of her things he still held. Yes, she left home because her parents kept saying they were going to be bankrupt. "I left, and.. and I went to the park," she ran a hand through her hair, and was startled to find a stick in it. She pulled it out and studied it, as well as her fingernails. Most were chipped, some broken. Her brow furrowed; when did that happen? "I was just... at the park." Sitting, sitting with her pokemon, not doing anything. And then pacing, and then...

And then tears started to well up in her eyes again, although she didn't notice them yet. "Then I was just.. not..." Not doing anything, minding her own business, pacing, looking up hotels, watching as Anastasia disappeared--

Her mind recovered enough to remember that single, soul-shattering fact and that was all it took for the tears to fall as Sera did so as well, crumpling to her knees as she buried her face in her hands and started crying in earnest. "I was just --" hiccup "-- standing there, and then she.. and it... I don't -- just -- and now she's gone," she finally finished with a particularly loud sob.

Something had definitely happened. Sera just leaving her luxurious home, apparently with just about everything she owned? Turning up here looking like hell, and confused and.... somebody had vanished.

At this point most people might call the police or an ambulance or something, but Dith's hatred of the former was ingrained into his very soul and there wasn't anything the latter could do for her that he couldn't do himself. Instead of either of those things therefore he knelt down in front of Sera and pulled her into a careful, protective embrace. "It's alright," he said softly, "Who's gone? We will find her, we will get her back, and you can stay here as long as you need. You are safe here, alright?" Finding out just what had happened could come later; the first thing to do was calm her down, make her feel safe, and take care of all those scratches and things.

Zla, still invisible, closed the door quietly; he sensed that now was not the time to go jumping out on people.

The instant Dith pulled her into a hug, she clung to his shirt and sobbed into his chest with renewed vigor. "Anya," she cried, her words almost incoherent if not all but drowned out by her tears. "Anya, Anya - Anastasia's gone." More sobbing as she clung even harder to his shirt, her thin hands trembling with the strength of her grip. "She just -- was there, and then went in her ball -- but her ball was gone and I tried to follow them but I don't know who it was or where they went and now she's gone and I don't know what to do because Anya's gone.." She finished in a wail. Once the words started they hadn't wanted to stop, hadn't let her breath until she finished, and once done her whole frame trembled as she clutched his shirt, wracked with sobs.

Mordecai hovered uncertainly nearby; he wanted to put her things down, but he didn't want to do so without permission or without an order to do so. He didn't want to disobey or misbehave!

Anya. Her most precious pokemon. Team Rocket? They always popped first to mind when things like this happened; he suspected them of stealing his Eevee too... he hadn't even named it, or put it in a pokeball.

He squeezed Sera gently and stroked her hair. "We'll find her. We will. It'll be alright." He didn't know that, but he couldn't stand for it to be any other way. Those bastards, why did they have to keep hurting his friends? Why did Jack have to be one of them? And that girl - Claire - she had seemed so... so normal and yet she was with them.

"Come on," Dith gave the sobbing girl in his arms another squeeze, "let's get you sitting somewhere more comfortable, and I will take care of those scratches, okay? You want tea?" Tea was good, calming and so on. Tea made the world better.

Sera rubbed at her eyes through the tears, still crying. "Okay," she sniffled, moving to stand rather shakily at his suggestion to move. Her vision was blurry, however - understandably so, it's hard to see through so many tears - and so she remained where she was, trying in vain to stifle her quiet sobs and stem the steady flow of tears. It seemed she wouldn't move unless Dith indicated to her where to go - she'd never bothered to memorize the layout of his apartment, in any case.

Mordecai continued to hover uncertainly near the door.

Once Sera was on her feet Dith steered her carefully over to the chaise that looked out of one glass-panneled side of the apartment. "Sit here," he gently pushed her shoulders down, "I won't be a moment, okay?" So saying he turned and hastened to the kitchen to put on the kettle, and then retrieved his rather extensive first aid box.

Was their little group just unlucky, or was Team Rocket targeting them? The latter was a chilling thought indeed, but surely they weren't well enough know to the organization to be considered worth treating in this manner? If they were considered an actual threat Dith was in no doubt that something more serious than the theft of some of their pokemon would have happened by now.

Returning to Sera Dith quietly laid out the items he needed to clean up her scratches before returning to the kitchen on auto-pilot to scrub up his hands and forearms. "Pour the tea, will you Zla?" he asked as he went back to Sera again, knelt, and pulled on a pair of disposable latex gloves. Some might call all of this overkill, but when it came to caring for injuries Dith was as a**l as they came.

"This will sting a bit, alright?" For the small scratches he was only using antiseptic wipes rather than something like an iodine solution, but stinging was inevitable with anything.

Zla faded into view at the request for tea, but before he saw to that he turned to Mordecai with a grin. Chuckling quietly to himself the Haunter then drifted through the wall into the kitchen and started making the tea.

Seraphine was similarly on autopilot, and she allowed Dith to lead her over to the couch, on which she sat obediently. She nodded to his statements, regardless of what they were, and tried to dry her eyes despite the fact her tears just kept falling regardless of her efforts to the contrary. She wouldn't mind minor stings, but bigger ones would make her flinch, and that'd be the extent of her reactions to however Dith treated her various cuts and scratches.

An incredibly relieved Mordecai sighed audibly as he moved to a corner to carefully deposit all of Sera's things. He hummed while he hovered after Zla into the kitchen. mess and I don't know what to do!> At some point, he'd begun clasping and unclasping his clawed appendages, but he tilted his head - and therefore all of him - slightly.

Sera was a good patient; he hadn't expected that, but maybe it was just because of the shock. "Why were you looking for hotels? Has something happened at home?" he asked as he worked, glancing up at her tea-stained face for a moment. It looked as if she'd come here with half of what she owned.

Zla gave another dry laugh, like the whisper of a long forgotten tomb. he poured the tea and placed the cups on a tray, which he then placed on Mordecai's head. He could easily have done so himself, but he quite liked the poor observant steel type and hoped that giving him even something small to do for his mistress would make him feel better.

She had, in fact, come here with half of what she owned - due in part to the fact her parents had sold the other half. "Yes," she admitted with a sniffle, not even registering whatever Dith was doing to her. It was helpful and therefore not worth noting at the moment - all her faculties were at present overwhelmed by the shock still and were struggling to process it. All the same, her mind grasped at the various pieces to put them together enough to form coherent sentences. "They said we lost all our money. Bankrupt - from stocks, or something. I didn't believe them, I thought they were lying." The brunette rubbed tears from her eyes and sniffled again. "I guess.. I guess they weren't. They started selling as much of our stuff as they could - my stuff too - and it was.. just.." Awful - but compared to losing Anastasia, the pain of the former was dull, unimportant.

"I was gonna stay, I guess... But--" A sudden flash of emotion, of anger, lit up her features at the memory. "-- he was going to sell Luna!" Her pale green eyes looked down at her hands - she hadn't even realized she'd balled them up into fists - and she relaxed them with a sigh, and seemed to melt once again back into her saddened, still semi-shocked state. It was all too much.

Mordecai hummed. He didn't make the connection, though. When the tray was placed on his head, the Metang looked positively giddy, and he whirred quite happily as he hovered over to Dith. "Tang!"

Still kneeling on the floor Dith looked up at Sera and listened quietly. He'd never had the patience for playing the stock market, but his parents did and he did recall his father recently telling him that shares in a very promising company (or something) had abruptly plummeted after some scandal or other. He hadn't paid much attention because it hadn't been relevant to his life, and he'd wanted to talk about his eevee kitten. Really he had just been waiting for the talking to stop so that he could say 'oh dear' and then start talking himself.

Dith got slowly to his feet and took the cups off the tray with a small nod for the Metang carrying them. "Here," he passed one to Sera, "tea." Holding his own cup delicately he sat down next to the green-eyed girl and looked into his drink; such a change of circumstances was not going to sit well with her, and to have lost her favourite pokemon too....

"Luna's registered to you, and you're a legal adult now. He cannot sell her." That seemed a useful thing to say. "If you need somewhere to stay, you can stay here," he went on, looking back over at Sera now. "You can have my spare room for as long as you need it, but you must contact your parents soon to tell them where you are. They will be worried." 'Tell the police about Anya' would be a suggestion most would probably put forward at that point but Dith didn't; he considered it, and then dismissed it with contempt. A fat lot of use the authorities were; they had proven time and again that they couldn't deal with things like this so why bother alerting them? They just stomped in with their big boots and their nasty attitudes and made everything worse.
