Alright let me start off by saying that I am in no way shape or form a homosexual, I have a girlfriend and I’m happy and in love with her. So one might ask why would defend gay marriage and I’m not gay myself. Well let’s start off by saying that I grew in a city where there are many people around me who are different from me in many different ways but at the end of the day were all human. And I’m the type of person that if see something is unjust. I’m going to speak out and against it and not sit back and watch it happen. And denying two people the right to marry and live happy lives whether it is a homosexual or heterosexual couple to me is flat out wrong and it makes my blood boil. My take on life is that if someone is doing something that you might feel wrong yourself but it doesn’t affect you and no one else why hinder their happiness. If your neighbors are gay what does that have to do with you? You might eat hot dogs and they are vegans so does that mean since there vegans you shouldn’t eat hot dogs. A lot of times people will say god said that being gay is an abomination but most people who say this don’t have understand the bible. I’m atheist but grew up around Christians and a lot of them said that homosexuality is wrong and clearly said in the bible. Well it did say that but doesn’t it literally. Since abomination in those days meant something outside customs of their society.

I support gay marriage, so let that be the first thing.

However, Leviticus 20:13 states "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Sooooo yeah it says that...

The way I look at the Bible saying that in Leviticus is the same way we look at the constitution today. There is debate on whether or not our constitution can be interpreted into today’s society or should be used verbatim. We all know if it not used verbatim in a lot of cases due to the fact that the society we live in today is very different from when our founding fathers first wrote the constitution. Therefore there is some semblance of leniency when it comes to following it. Things in the constitution are stretched and used in ways our founding fathers never imagined. And this is what I keep in mind when I take into account homosexuality and the Bible. Honestly I do not see how God can hate anyone, homosexual or not. Times have changed and I honestly believe that we have no right to look down upon others for expressing feelings beyond their immediate control. And we certainly have no right to tell someone they cannot love the person they love. I believe the real reason this is such an outrage is because marriage has always been held to a religious standard in the past and now a large group's view contradict the Bible AND want to get married in the churches. So it's kind of an intrusion.
If you actually analyze the quote you posted carefully you will notice that the Bible condemns the act of one man lying down next to each other not the men themselves. So technically your quote condemns homosexuality but not homosexuals themselves. Tricky, huh? PLUS when the Bible was written "homosexual" could be interpreted as "male prostitution".
I am not gay but I have gay friends and I know that they are people just like us who deserve the same rights as us.
That's all (:
P.S. I liked the previous vegan analogy.

Incorrect. The bible might not say anything about homosexuality but every true Christian knows God is against homosexuality because we know the story of God's first two creations Adam and Eve. His first two creations were of the opposite sex! A Male and Female. He first created created Adam and saw that he was lonely so he decided to create a "mate" a women to comfort him. He never created two men or two women he created 1 man for 1 women! and that's what God wants each of us to follow. You can believe me or not but this is 100% fact.

I'm anti-homosexual and every true Christian knows that God is also against homosexuality which he shows by his two first creation Adam and Eve (male and female) It even says in the bible He created a 'mate" for Adam when he saw Adam was lonely. God wants us to follow his example of one man and one woman.

Homosexuals don't deserve the same rights, and I will continue to preach against them as long as I live. The bible is not to be treated as the Constitution. The bible which means "The Word" is a holy book that should be always obeyed and not argued. They are a disgrace and abomination to the Human Race.

It doesn't say in the bible, "Don't be gay"
But it does say "Dont lay with another man"
And yes the bible talks about homosexuality.

You can believe it if you want but my family's belief is anti-homosexuality because it's abnormal. When they die they will get a severe punishment from God. smile

We have to keep in Mind this isn't a theocracy. Some Homosexuals may not even be Christian, and they have every right not to be, because of the First Amendment. I do respect that. But If we want to spread Christianity, I can tell you, Force is not the way. Just as if the US wants to spread Democracy, Force is not the way. Because some might argue that it's un-Christian, I think it would be best for them not to get married in a church.

And I have no idea why we are debating this. Does anyone remember/know that Bill Clinton signed the "Defense of Marriage Act", which defines marriage? Basically, what I mean is that Marriage is recognized by Law.

Also, on another point, that quote is being used ad nauseum, and I think a better argument for people would be where in the Bible does it define marriage.

That's my two cents. :3

The Bible does say that homosexuality is not allowed, almost all Christian organizations are against the gay rights movement (Catholic Church, Baptists etc.) so.... I really don't see how you can say Christians are for gay rights... personally I am not Christian and support GR so I have researched a lot on this subject.
