 It had been a fairly profitable day, all things considered- well, as good as days tended to go, anyway. Oh sure there was the yelling and the swearing, and she'd nearly lost a shoe and -had- lost a blanket in the process... but the bag she had at her side clinked and clanked merrily as she wandered down the Umbra Road. Well, once she'd fixed her shoe. Just because she wasn't wearing her best at the moment didn't mean she totally didn't care- but she couldn't wait to get home and pull on her favorite dress instead of this plain thing she was stuck in... and almost all her jewelry was left behind as well. She just had her pendant, which she clutched absently as she walked. She couldn't wait to get home for more reasons than mere fashion, even- she wanted to actually count out the trinkets she'd stolen- some actual coinage this time! She might actually get to -buy- something instead of grabbing what she could and running, only to dive under a blanket into the dark safety of her Lord's world. ...she didn't know quite where she was, she mused, as she followed the pathway- usually her escapes back to the Umbra Road were better-planned, and she roughly re-entered where she'd exited from... but, again, not much choice- stealing 'money' seemed a lot more risky than stealing -things-... she would do better next time. Ahh well, the road would lead somewhere in time- so she wasn't worried about making it home. She had a stick to swat at any errant beasties she came across and everything.

 Alak could have -sworn- this was the road he had taken earlier. He had hoped to get to the forest, so he could try hunting some of the darkbeasts there. He could not eat them, but he could use them to hone his battle instincts some. Instead he had ended up lost. Skittering lightly through the tunnel. he closed his eyes and covered his mouth as he yawned. The inconvenience of the chaotic paths of the umbra roads were well worth the trouble. He preferred the Cimarron city to anything on the surface. He may have been a doll, but he knew in his heart where his roots were. Right here in the empty version of the Underdark! Alak took note of the clinking sound as he came to a twist in the road. As this place was hardly as dangerous as the underdark, he didn't hesitate in walking around the corner. Of course, shortly afterwords he drew up short. His head jerked back in surprise at the sight of what...he could have sword was a drowess. "No way..."

She hadn't really been paying attention either, to be honest- she had been going over what she done earlier and idly trying to plan what she was going to do once she found her way home if it could be done before all she wanted to do was take a nap.
...so when someone rounded the corner to end up in front of her, he might as well have teleported in there. Spinneret let out a -squeak- of surprise that she would be embarrassed about the moment her mind had the time she processed she made such a noise and clutched at the stick she'd been carrying for protection-
only to freeze in place after taking a few hurried steps back.
"...impossible," she muttered- what would a drider be doing -here-? She hadn't even seen another... whatever she was... in this place- not aside from her Lord. Oh, she was certain they must -be- here, somewhere...
The thought flitted across her mind that maybe she hadn't done quite so well topside and maybe someone had hit her in the head and she was laying somewhere hallucinating.

Honestly... Alak was uncertain what to do right away. He stared at Spin, his eyes wide with shock. If she had just squeaked in alarm he would have assumed she just...happened to be a black skinned elf..but her own surprise. Coupled with her clothing, sent a shock of fear through the drider. His leg's twitched, then in a cowards play he turned and started to skitter down the tunnel away from her. "Damn it all!" He cursed in frustration. "They are even HERE!"

Spin stood there blinking in shock for a moment- before her mind kicked in and chided her, telling her that if she was going to hallucinate, she probably wouldn't have come up with a drider. Part of her told herself to chalk it up to a strange experience and let him scuttle away- after all, he was larger than her and probably far more powerful than a her... she could barely bat away the dark creatures that invaded her house sometimes.
...but still, there was someone... sort of like her. Hells, maybe she was getting a little lonely down here without anyone to talk to. Her feet practically moved on their own as she scrambled after him.
"Hey! Wait!" she yelled.

Wait? Wait? Was she serious!? Alak cast a glance over his shoulder to see the drowess was actually following him. With a very unmanly squeak of his own, he skittered his way up the wall and onto the ceiling. At least up here she couldn't get him! God help him if she had a whip!! Alak peered down at the female, then declared in no uncertain terms "Go away! I refuse to have anything to do with one of Lloth's freakin servants! She's not here! I don't have to listen to you!"

Spin came to a halt nearby once he'd retreated up to the ceiling. "I don't have anything to do with Lloth! I don't," she protested, adamantly- and perhaps a little petulantly. She took a deep breath, clearly trying to calm herself. Now, what was it again that sometimes worked?
Ahh yes, politeness.
She fidgeted, straightening out her dress self-consciously as she looked upward.
"I am not... -demanding- anything of you. I am just... 'requesting,'" she fumbled a little, awkwardly, "...please? It is rare that I run into anyone to speak with."
Her face felt a little hot- this was against everything she'd been taught! ...ahh well, if anyone even -cared- they wouldn't believe a drider over her anyway.
Maybe.
She might as well take the risk... he was a rather pretty creature, after all.

Alak placed a hand on his head. Mostly to keep his prized circlet from falling off, and also to brush his hair back as it hung loose and free over his shoulders. he eyed the female as she stammered away, and cautiously he eyed her cloths. Please? She had nothing to do with Lloth? She was requesting? Alakvyld stared upside down for a moment before he realized...she had to be a slave. Just look at how she was dressed! He shifted his grip on the ceiling and rather wished he had the ability to make webs at the moment. "What are you doing down here?" He finally cautiously asked.

Really, she was quite sure she was making an a** out of herself- she felt all out of sorts still, talking to a male in such a way... but it had been so long since she'd had someone to talk to, she didn't entirely wish to stop the conversation, as awkward as it was.
She straightened her clothes again, wishing she'd dressed her best for a fleeting moment until her more practical side asserted itself and told her she'd probably have ripped her dress in the process of her earlier shenanigans.
"I was allowed to come here by my Lord, Atarmur'ss," she squared her shoulders- if she was going to follow a -god-, well, then she wasn't going to be ashamed of it, "He has graciously allowed me to take a home in the city," she gave him a hard look, almost -daring- him to mock her for it.
Spin continued, "I have been here a while, but I have never seen you around... so what are -you- doing here?"

Alakvyld was not going to come down. Hell no. Not yet. The female could have a hidden weapon or something after all. Still...hearing her claim to worship a God, and the one here in the realm he roamed was... unexpected. Alak eyed the female for a few moments. "Sure you were..." He didn't doubt she served Antarmur'ss. As a drow female she'd just have to find a source of power to latch onto. With Lloth missing, the male god was the next best thing. Having the female drow actually challenging him caused Alak to curl his lips and bare tiny little fangs at her. He would have given anything to have actual fangs that were big enough to support a venom sack right now. "The city is big, you probably never crossed paths with me before." He retorted with maybe just a small degree of uncertainty. He hoped he didn't need the gods permission to live there...

Just as the drider seemed intent on staying up near the ceiling- Spin seemed quite unwilling to move anywhere but where she was, staring up at him for the moment.
She laughed at his comment, slightly wry, slightly bitter, "I wouldn't doubt it- I have found there are a great many things I do not know."
The more she admitted it, the less it stung. She mulled over what to say- he probably didn't follow her Lord... so on one hand she should probably go after him for trespassing.
...but then again- there was a faith-based and a practical reason not to.
Faith-wise? If Antarmur'ss didn't want him here, surely her Lord would have either made a decree or kicked him out himself. It would be arrogant to presume she knew his mind.
Practical? Despite the drider's fidgety demeanor, she was quite sure she would be the loser if he decided to attack.
No, unless Antarmur'ss actually said something... she wasn't going to do anything.
Spin toyed idly with her amulet instead, "It's a long shot- but I don't suppose you have seen... erm... another drow in this area, have you? I am looking for my brother."

Alak hunkered his body down...er...well up...against the ceiling. One hand remained fixed on his circlet while the other crossed over his lower belly. It felt unreal to be talking to a drow female. If she were any other female he probably wouldn't have had a problem but...she still felt like a trap of some sort. When she would ask him a direct question about other drow, he shook his head slightly. " Your the only drow I have seen, and I prefer it if your the last. This place has better potential without your kind cluttering it up." He found himself bitterly adding before catching himself.

Well, it was disappointing- but it's not like she wasn't expecting it. Spin would feel a little silly if her brother had been wandering around and they'd just been missing each other- especially since, if things still worked the way they were supposed to, she should be able to sense him through their connection...
She smirked, "Oh? Better off without more of -my- kind, hmm?" she eyed him, "And so... what is a -drider-, then, if not a part of my kind?" she made a theatrical gesture, sweeping her arms around her, "And without others of my kind, who's to stop me from my grand plan of taking over this whole place. Ahh, I shall be a -queen-, unopposed!"
...he really couldn't be buying any of that, could he? She could barely keep a straight face.

Alak shifted his legs as the female seemed to take a small degree of offense at his words. Well, he had been attempting to be insulting when he made his statement, so she was well within her rights. Having her fling back the face 'he' was one of her kind though made him wrinkle his nose a little. "In this place I'm not like a drow at all. I'm my own species." He determined with a nod of his head. "Driders are drow cursed by Lloth., but there is no Lloth here. So clearly I can't be a cursed drow. I'm just something else." He paused then as she would make such a bold declaration. Twitching his left leg, he pointed down at her. "I'll Oppose you! I'm not letting some female take over and ruin this place too. I'd run this place far better then you could."

Spin blinked up at him, "You... you think that I'm -serious- about ruling this place...?"
...and then she couldn't help it anymore- she burst into loud and totally inelegant laughter, though she tried to curtail it a bit. She wiped at her teary eyes, "-Darkness-, drider... You really must think me a fool. You'd win in a heartbeat if we were to battle."
Spin was too amused to even have her pride hurt by saying this, "No, no... I have no wish to rule- it sounds dreadfully boring at best, and dreadfully unhealthy at the worst. I simply wish to make my own existence comfortable," she shrugged, "and whatever purpose my Lord may yet give me, if he ever has one in mind."
The drowess chuckled softly, hefting her stick and standing on her tiptoes to prod at the ceiling-bound drider gently with it. "Ahh well, 'tis a pity you have relinquished being a drow. You do have a very pleasant form."
