The dining room was packed, but food was food, and the duo would do anything to fill their stomachs just than. As Cetus darted off for the people food of cake, ice cream and cookies galore, Mat favored natural substances that wouldn't melt his digestive track.
Unfortunately, the display table featuring the berries he desired was overrun with Pokemon, and he wasn't sure if he'd get anything worthwhile. When the torrent of yipping creatures seemed to have an opening, the elder Pokemon launched himself into the fray. The arm not holding his cane swished around in the vat of fur, scales, and slimy skin and clamped down on whatever did not feel like a Pokemon.

Mat emerged with a small handful of dots the same olive shade as him. Further inspection confirmed they were Lum Berries. Ugh. He hated Lum Berries!
Seeing his attempt only as a event of lost stamina, Mat returned to Cetus with a frown. She was pigging out on almost everything sweet. Her cheeks were round globes on her face as she granted her Marowak a passive glance when he sat by her.
Without swallowing, she asked, "Didjaf geff anythinf goovf?"
Mat twisted up a brow at her when he didn't understand what she said. Rolling her eyes when he didn't reply, Cetus took his silence as a no and shoved a rice cake into his free hand. Mat blinked, slightly taken aback by her sudden kindness, and even gave Cetus a questionable stare as he looked down at the dry snack and back up to her, repeating the movements a few times.
Swallowing thickly, Cetus pursed her lips and said, "Look, don't question it. Eat up and let's go. I wanna go play some games or something."
Mat gave her a small nod, pushed the flattened crisp treat past the corners of his mouth, and chewed slowly. He could just taste the bitterness of Cetus's kindness slathered on it. The woman could never good anything with a good heart, huh?
