She needed to talk to her. Needed to clear this up…maybe even needed to admit to herself that she didn’t want a team. But, she had to figure out just why Acubens had been such…well, such a b***h when they were up on the moon. Albireo sent her a quick text on her phone. Hey. We need to talk. Meet me tonight. The location was put in the text, and now Albireo was waiting, sitting on a low wall, legs swinging. She wondered idly if the other senshi would show up. If she didn’t, at least then she could be mad for that too…huh. Anger was becoming a constant thing in her life it seemed.

The text made Acubens groan. And here she'd thought she'd gotten out of her actions if that night. Of course she hadn't. What was the matter with her? She'd acted in a way unbefitting of a leader. She'd snapped at her teammates, something Alberio never deserved. Acubens truly hadn't grown up at all, had she?
She followed the direction Alberio has left her, already knowing where the conversation was going. She sat next to the swan senshi, feeling a little like a guilty lover, preparing for the break up. She sat quietly next to Alberio for a moment before speaking.
"You're leaving me, aren't you?"

Albireo sighed, looking over at Acubens. “You were really out of line.” Her voice was quiet, and there was a bit of betrayal held within it. “I get it. You were emotional. But, did you stop to think that I was too? I watched more people die that night…then I ever thought I would have to see, and honestly, Acubens. Two of them were my fault.”
The swan senshi stood up, facing the other senshi. “You were way out of line, if that’s how you’re going to treat the new senshi that you plan on helping, you’re going to drive them all to depression. You know, Acubens.”
She considered her words carefully, wondering just how much of her own weakness she wanted to reveal. Finally she just shrugged. “Honestly, I want to die. I don’t want to do this shitty job, I don’t want to be involved, and I don’t want to watch anyone die. I don’t want to watch the ******** sick face of Painite shoving her hand into that senshi’s chest and ******** crushing his starseed. She held it out to me, you know. His crushed starseed.” Albireo turned around, hands balled into fists.
“Yeah. I’m leaving you.”

Each word stung Acubens because she knew it was true. She had acted without thinking, snapped at someone who was her team mate. She should have kept her feelings in check. She should have just thanked Alberio for her help and moved on. Kept her hurt inside. Kept the idea that Alberio was acting out of obligation and not concern to herself. She should have... she should have...
She should have been a better leader.
Acubens cuffed at her eyes with her vambraces, a sensation that she was getting slowly used to. She couldn't keep Alberio with her. That would be selfish. But she could at least offer other avenues of help.
"The Jovians," she said softly, not looking over to Alberio. "Check out the Jovians. Ganymede, another senshi I know, is a member of that. He says it's a good place. Their leader, Europa, is a good woman. And if not that, my own teacher has a place. Celestial Shepards. Polaris is a good woman too. You'll be safe."

Albireo watched Acubens for a long moment, listening, and then just staring. Huh. So the other girl couldn’t even muster a simple apology. Truthfully, that was what she wanted. A nice simple, ‘Well, Gee, Albireo, I’m so sorry, Gosh oh golly, I’m going to be better, I was just under a lot of stress too! Come here, GROUP HUG!’
Well…perhaps that fantasy situation didn’t seem so simple, but not only was Acubens not apologizing, here she was trying to shove her off to another group. She wasn’t even trying to keep her. Wasn’t doing anything to…to even make it better.
The swan senshi shook her head and gave a bitter laugh. Hell. Even Jarosite was better at knowing how to reel people in, though, that must be why he was on the side he was on.
“Forget it, Acubens. I’m through with teams. I work best on my own, and thanks to you, it’s going to stay that way. Good luck in whatever you do. Stay safe. And all that other s**t. Maybe I’ll see you around sometime.” She gave a little wave, then walked away. It didn’t matter if the other senshi had something else to say, frankly, she didn’t want to hear it. She didn’t want to hear another word from her mouth.
She was done.

Acubens winced as Alberio spoke, drawing her knees up to her chin like a child. She was right. She was right. Of course she was right. Acubens was the worst kind of idiot. An idiot who could not learn her lesson. She hid her face in her knees as Alberio spoke her last piece. Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry. If Acubens cried now, it would be seen as a pity play. Alberio wanted to get away from Acubens, and who was she to stop the other senshi from doing so.
It was only when she was gone that Acubens lifted her face from her legs, face glistening. She stared at her knees for a long while before she buried her face again. Acubens didn't want to move. She didn't want to do anything. She wanted to run away. Far away so that no one could follow her.
Her home planet wasn't even far enough away...
