Personality:
Level-Headed: Kestrel is exceptionally hard to rattle, this may be a side-effect of spending a great deal of time working in Bande's nightlife, but she tends to just take things in stride. This isn't to say that she's the sort to take abuse, she happily tosses drunks on a regular basis, but she does so matter-of-factly with little emotion. She is able to work through crises fairly easily without panicking. Sometimes the pressure of being everyone's bedrock gets to her, but she eventually finds her way through it.
Gregarious: As a bartender, Kestrel would have it pretty hard if she didn't love to socialize. Luckily for her, she takes to social situations like a fish to water. She finds it easy to move in nearly any social circle, and is energized by socializing with large groups. She becomes bored and melancholy if she has to be alone for extended periods of time. She is the sort to constantly contact friends to do something fun. Sometimes people get worn out trying to keep up with her high energy but she seems unwilling or unable to slow down.
Meticulous: Some might find Kestrel's attention to detail to be a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder, but she is exceptionally well-organized. This comes in handy in terms of maintaining her business as she keeps records very precisely and is able to keep her inventory quite organized. Sometimes she takes a bit longer to do things because she is so focused on details, but the end result is usually quite good. Some people find her nitpicky and irritating but she tends to ignore them because she believes that no matter how long it takes, getting a job done right is better than getting a job done fast.
Bossy: Kestrel knows best. At least that's what she thinks. And as such, she knows what's best for everyone around her. Kestrel doesn't hesitate to offer her opinions on other people's lives and instruct them as to what they should do. This also comes up at work, where she has no problem with telling anyone who does things "incorrectly" the "right" way to do things. Regardless of her intentions, nearly everyone who is the subject of one of her "learning sessions" finds themselves incredibly frustrated and irritated with her apparent condescension, and many people who don't know her will be put off entirely.
Nosy: Kestrel is a shameless, hopeless gossip. She easily and unconsciously finds herself prying into other people's business, and often will continue to poke unless directly told to stop. She often doesn't realize that she is overstepping people's boundaries, and if told to knock it off more often than not will, on that particular subject anyway. Kestrel will gossip about almost anything, but she loves to hear about other people's love lives. She gossips for her own amusement but generally keeps other people's business to herself. Unless she particularly dislikes someone, in which case she'll casually drop the information. And yes, this has gotten her in trouble, to the point that some people have wanted to start fights with her over gossiping about them or their loved ones.
Spoiled: Kestrel is very used to being the center of attention and getting anything she asks for, unfortunately for her, that's not how the world works. She finds being ignored exceptionally difficult to deal with, and if she doesn't get her own way is extremely disappointed and may become quite sulky. On smaller things (where to eat, what to do) she will let other people have their way without much argument, unless she really has her heart set on something. Some people do think she's a brat, because she really can be, but she doesn't mean to be, she's one of those people who have a hard time understanding that people can want things as badly as she does.
Family:
Ada Harper: Ada was the heiress to a fortune, and she uses that money to dote upon and spoil her wife and children. She is a kind-hearted, if rather spoiled woman who has never had to work a day in her life, delegating the running of her family's textile company to other relatives. Though this has caused occasional conflict with her wife, they've always worked it out.
Ruby Harper: Ruby was initially one of Ada's tutors, though only a few years her senior. The two of them fell in love over the course of several years, eventually marrying. Ruby was and is a hardworking woman, in spite of her wife's fortune she continues to pursue her career as a teacher.
Tiberius Harper: Tiberius is Kestrel's brother, one year her senior. He was adopted shortly before Kestrel was, and the two of them have always been very close, in spite of normal sibling arguments. Tiberius is the more likely of the two siblings to run the family business. He is a shrewd, intelligent man with a keen business sense.
