Leaving the after party for the success of the battle, Raven had all but insisted going home with Jett. The poor guy had gotten a lot more hurt than she had, hell, she really didn’t have much more than a few scrapes on her, but that was just from some random stupid Senshi who decided it would be a good idea to plow into her. Not very nice, but whatever. The cuts would heal.
She looked at her boyfriend and put her hand in his, giving a little squeeze. “I noticed you weren’t eating at the, uh…party. So let me take you out to dinner, okay? We can go get some fast food…I know that you like it.” Even if she didn’t. That was the thing about relationships. It wasn’t always about you.
“Then I’m taking you home and tucking you in bed. If you’re good, I’ll even kiss all of your boo boos.” The blonde grinned wickedly and laughed. “But maybe that’s pushing. Just a little bit, what do you think?”

Perhaps Jett might have argued that he would rather just be alone after the battle, though the truth was that maybe—in that dark corner of his heart he liked to pretend didn’t exist—he liked being able to grasp to something normal after that battle. He hadn’t seen Raven during the battle, but considering how hectic everything was, that might have been for the best. He didn’t consider himself to have a hero complex, but he’d already taken enough damage while intervening in other battles.
…And from a few Senshi and their god damned cheap shots.
He had not been in much of a celebratory mood after the battle and the party had done little to put him in a good mood; while he had been looking forward to just heading home and crashing, he figured he could keep going for a little while. Powering down had left his bruises stinging and sore—and he didn’t even want to look in a mirror. His hands hurt to move, though he never once protested or complained when Raven slipped her hand into his own.
He walked alongside her, at a slightly paced gait. His back protested with each step, but Raven—and her promise of fast food—was enough to keep him going. He wore a tired smirk at Raven’s latest comment and looked at her out of the corner of his eye as the couple walked towards a nearby restaurant. “Maybe just a little bit. I’d hate for you to wear yourself out looking for all of them. Where were you during most of that?” It wasn’t an accusatory question, but maybe sounded a bit concerned. “You did all right out there?”
Which was the best way he could think to phrase ‘Are you okay?’ without outright asking.

Raven was glancing around, wondering just which fast food place she was going to take Jett too, finally she decided on the burger place that he always mentioned liking so much. She waited until they got inside the air conditioned building and sat down before answering. “Yeah. I did all right. I stayed out of the way, mostly. Didn’t want the few senshi that I’ve been trying to sway to thing that I was one of those big scary monstrous bad guys that they’re always warned about.”
She sat across from her boyfriend and sighed for a moment, very glad to be off of her feet, and equally glad to be somewhere that nobody was screaming in agony, and that no sounds of splattering blood could be heard.
“Guess I should admit that I was partly trying to watch out for my own neck. Didn’t really think…that that’s what our goal was, you know? I thought that the senshi were supposed to just be…I don’t know. Talked to, most of the time…unless they’re really stubborn or something…”
Raven gazed absentmindedly at the menu that was over the counter and sighed. “I’ll go up and get our food in a minute, just let me sit for a few seconds.”

Jett nodded when Raven spoke; he understood very much how she felt about the whole situation. He had been quite uncomfortable with the idea of going into a battle like that. It was hard to convince people you were supposed to be the good guy when everyone else on your team was snapping necks. Not that he was going to criticize his team—at least, not right now. He thought he’d had an issue when Leto confided that she had killed a page, but Requiem had done so in front of him without batting an eye.
It left Jett feeling discontent, though right now he had neither the motivation nor energy to put too much thought into anything. Sitting down in the air conditioning was almost enough to lull him into sleep, though the scent of burgers was just enough to keep him from dozing off—for now.
“Take your time,” he replied, appreciating the seat he was currently leaning against. Walking should not have been as much of a pain, and Remarque could only hope that he healed quickly so things could go back to being normal.
A good night’s rest would do the job, he figured, but this night just kept dragging on. Not that he was complaining if it meant he got to spend a little extra time with Raven.
He closed his eyes as he remained leaned back on the chair, though cracked one to look at the girl. “I’m glad that neck of yours is safe. I stuck with Mimi.” He was a tad bit reluctant to talk too much about it in public—but it’s not like there was anyone around, anyway. This place was damn well deserted, and the girl working behind the counter was gesturing animatedly while talking on the phone. “Just wanted to make sure we didn’t lose some of ours. Some of those Senshi, I don’t even think they can be saved. Vicious little bastards. Oh. And heads up. Acubens might not be so friendly the next time you bump heads.”

Raven had finished planning her dinner menu and looked to Jett, nodding. Mimi was the new girl…the purple one, Mimistrobell or whatever. Flowery senshi…She shrugged, at her own thoughts rather than what he said and the nodded.
“I’m glad you stuck with the new girl. I had a nice conversation with some girl in there. She was pretty cool.” She would maybe talk more about Howlite when they were out of the public eye, you never could be too careful anywhere, even if a place did seem deserted.
The blonde looked at Jett and scowled slightly at the mention of Acubens. “What did you guys do to her? Not that I’m not guilty of screwing up with her anyway. You know how I get. I think I kind of…” She let her voice drop and gave a nonchalant shrug. “Kidnapped her girlfriend. But, who really cares, right? No worse than when I nearly killed that mint haired girl that you were making out with that one night…”
So she hadn’t ever told Jett this, she hoped it wouldn’t really matter. He hadn’t ever really had feelings for that girl anyway, she hoped. “I just get jealous when things don’t go my way.”

As interested as Jett could try to be about Raven’s new friend, he made no effort to inquire much about her. Maybe in the morning, or the next time the two of them were in private or out, powered up.
Things got significantly more interesting when Raven confessed to kidnapping Acubens’ girlfriend—and attacking some girl he’d gone on a fluke of a date with.
“…I don’t know if I should be irritated or amused,” he said after a short moment of thought. He didn’t necessarily feel either at the moment, but that’s what he got for wearing himself out.
“The hell did you do to Harmony?” he asked, obviously more curious than upset. The question didn’t linger in the air for long before he leaned forward and asked, “Did I tell you I ran into her mother once? She tried to chew me out. Not even sure what the hell I did, but apparently I broke the girl’s heart. Didn’t know you could do so much in one sitting. Don’t think we even got to the food. Kinda creepy that the mom knew who I was, but,” he forced an exaggerated shrug. “—When did you drain her? And why the hell did you kidnap Acubens’ girlfriend?”
Never mind why did Acubens have a girlfriend, what the hell was that all about?

Raven shrugged, twirling a piece of her hair, glad that it was growing. It was past her shoulders once again, and for that, she was very grateful. “Oh, it was a few days after the date thing I walked in on. I sort of stalked her to her coffee shop and cornered her outside of it one night. Then this heroic jerk..Camelot or whatever came to play the hero. The jackass.”
She looked back at Jett and gave a bit of a grin. “And I kidnapped her girlfriend because she all of the sudden decided she would rather stay on the side of the filthy White Mooners than come join us. And I figured it was the girlfriends fault. So I did my best to get rid of said girlfriend. Of course. That didn’t work out so well, and now Acubens and I sort of don’t like one another very much.”
Raven glanced at the menu once more, then stood up. “But, whatever. Maybe we’re better off without her. Right? Be right back, going to go get our food."
She went to the counter and ordered some food, returning a few minutes later with the tray, and two drinks. She handed two of the burgers to Jett, and kept one for herself, keeping the large fry in the middle of the table. "Dig in..." She hesitated, then gave a very evil grin. "...Honeybun. I promise, I won't be buying your meals often, so you should be very excited."

Ugh, Camelot. What a disappointment. For all the faith Jett had put in him, it had been absolutely crushed in a single meeting. A meeting that he had, in fact, even tried to be polite. Sort of. He still remembered the effects of that damn crystal and the Knight’s pompous attitude.
Jett did not protest when Raven left to go get food; just reclining and relaxing his jaw felt nice enough. When she returned, he snickered, first at the term of endearment, and then at her sincere confession. “Oh, don’t worry, Sweet Cheeks. I’d never expect anything so much as a meal from you. Thanks, though,” he said, lifting one of the burgers. He didn’t realize how hungry he was until that first bite—and the suddenly his stomach decided that now was a good time to tell him he was starving.
“—This is good,” he acknowledged a moment later. “Makes me like you even more. Even if you are a crazy, jealous girlfriend who I suspect might one day try to kill me in my sleep.”

Raven’s burger was finished quicker than she could have ever imagined, and once it was, she was strongly considering going up and ordering a second. The blonde reached over, drawing up a few fries and popping them into her mouth before looking at him and laughing. “Well, so long as we stay in a good, healthy relationship, you don’t have to worry about me killing you in your sleep…though if you’re ever with someone else, you can worry about me coming and killing them! Remember, Jett darling, I’m a girl. We work in stupid ways sometimes.”
She took a sip of her drink and grinned. “We don’t go after the guys we like, ‘cause we figure it’s not their faults, but we still act like it’s their faults to their faces.” Raven leaned in close, as though sharing a deep, dark secret. “We go after the other girl. That way, she’ll be out of the way, and we’re always so sure the guy will come crawling back, because we’re the awesome one. Cheerleading 101. Though, if you ever mention that I told you this, I will have to kill you. This is just the girl code, baby."

A slow smirk drifted across Jett’s face and he leaned closer to seal the distance between the two of them so he could plant a surprisingly light kiss atop Raven’s lips. “Do I look like the sort of person who crawls for anyone?” he prompted, though figured the answer was obvious already. “But,” he leaned back and shrugged, smile still decorating his face. “I’ll keep that little bit of information to myself.”
‘Girl code’ was starting to sound a little psychotic, though Jett couldn’t help but be amused with Raven. “I’m sure we won’t have to worry about that. The thing with Harmony never would have happened if you had been so kind as to inform me we were dating,” he pointed out, taking a bite from his second burger, now. “All of that was just an unsightly misunderstanding, you know. I have no intentions of ever cheating on you. Or doing anything that would make you too unhappy.”
…Though he would never stop the teasing, or occasional picking on her. That was just too much fun.
Thankfully, Raven could take it in stride and seemed to enjoy doing the same. Even if she was a little jealous, as long as it didn’t cross over to the point of being obnoxious, he didn’t care.
“Though you will have to forgive me, as I have a fair share of females I see and interact with on a daily basis. You’re my favorite, though.”
Well. Right after his mother, but that was a given.

She stuck her tongue out and ate a few more fries, feeling rather giddy. How had she managed to land the one who had been the guy of her dreams back in high school was still beyond her. It must just be some of that good old fashioned pixie dust that kept the two together, and so perfectly.
Truth be told, they were almost too alike to really be compatible, but, she sort of wondered if it wasn’t the fact they had both been honored to become Dark Mirror Senshi, if that wasn’t a very key factor in keeping them together. Whatever was the glue, she was happy with it.
“Ugh. When you’re done with that, let’s head back to your house. I’m so tired. Hope you don’t mind if I stay over. You said your mom was out of town again, right? So…I know she won’t mind.” Raven grinned, then gave a large yawn, rubbing her eyes. Yeah. It would be good to get to bed sometime soon.

“We can go now. I can finish this one the way,” Jett replied, rather unceremoniously speaking with a mouthful of food. He was typically one to keep up appearances but tonight was an exception—and it was just Raven. Like she hadn’t seen different sides of him already.
He stood, not particularly waiting for an answer, and crumpled up the wrappers from their meal. He offered the fries to her, inviting her to take whatever she wanted of them before he threw the rest out. Burger still in hand, he took another bite, swallowed, and then said, “She’s gone for the next two days at least, so you’re welcome to crash for as long as you want. I might hop in the shower for a few minutes, you’re free to do the same. I don’t want you dragging all that battle-grime into my nice, clean bed. I’m taking the day off of work tomorrow though, so feel free to stay and sleep in for as long as you want.”
Plans for the evening had consisted of a solitary night alone, and for as much as Jett hated when things didn’t go according to plan, he wasn’t going to complain. There was a certain sort of solace Raven brought him when they weren’t just screwing around, and her injecting herself into his evening was probably the best thing that could have happened.
At the very least, he knew he’d get some sleep knowing she was safe and sleeping next to him.
