The gate itself sighed as the last visitor pressed through, stifling warm air assaulting all arrivals. The sky was covered by foliage, strange hissing and creaking noises punctuating any semblance of silence. As the gate clicked and returned back into its bracelet form, Medea signaled the other direction, a bit to their left. In the distance was the remains of a campfire - a human campfire - and a glowing portal.

"We will need to keep this place as ours, around that portal, so we may return to our lands quickly." The Head Priestess urged concern into her voice, of the importance of escape. "It is important to fight, to rescue, but we must also remember the importance of perseverance. I will go in buy us time and power, but it is only temporary. You will have very limited time to do as you need: take our revenge on the Hunters, and rescue those captured inside. Do not be greedy, my children, there will always be another time as well. Take and consume only what you need, and the rest I will assist. Stay true to your path and do not doubt your power."

The ground suddenly shook lightly, a quick tremour, as an odd voice, low and menacing, hissed in a language entirely foreign, several birds fleeing, rising to the skies in panic at the ripple of power.

"He calls to us." Medea half-closed her eyes, a smile on her face, as if in Trance. "It will not be long now. Revenge." The ground stirred again. "Now, those who call themselves warriors, be fearless and step across the barrier."

At first it seemed as if Medea was simply pushing through empty air. And then. as the students and horsemen passed the same direction they could feel it: a strange resilience, as if something was tugging at their Fear and attempting to push them back. The feeling was weak however, they easily overpowered the sensation. For those who refused to drink, even touch the water, they unfortunately hit the sensation of something solid and be unable to walk any further. They would have to wait at the portal entrance ahead.

The Head Priestess however, moved the other direction. Through the crevices between the foliage were flecks of a grey-blue sky and a large building, a fortress raised on top of a cliff, gleaming a grey-white. Perhaps some students recognized it: the headquarters of Deus Ex Machina, the home of most Hunters.

"Patience." Medea stopped those who sought to move ahead with a single gesture of her hand. "In due time, we must make preparations first. There is quite a journey ahead, a battle, and like all battles, everything must be planned carefully, paths anticipated, to ensure our victory." At last they reached the end of the green canopy, a ragged path ahead that lead directly to the sheer cliff where the fortress resided. Everything was quiet, all eyes on the Head Priestess. "You will stay here and hide, wait for when it is time. They will call you, he will call you and come to our aid. He will fight for us, with us, and in turn, give us power and revenge. When the paths have shifted to our favour, when the Hunters are wrought with chaos and confusion, it is then time for you to proceed. There are areas that he whispers of importance. The gate behind you, the abandoned town on the way to the nest which speaks of a secret greater than I can reveal, though that will perhaps come later. And inside the Hunter's nest two distinct monuments. Their main headquarters speaks of their kind, saturated with their so-called technology. It can betray them just as easily. And of course the infirmary, where the hostages are kept, of the most importance for many a student. You will find them there, in the bottom floor, held prisoner. Move quickly."

She paused and closed her eyes, as if listening to another voice as well, one beyond the imagination or capability of the students or horsemen. "And so he calls, and so we shall begin."

The wind rustled, her cloak ruffling loudly in the wind as she walked several steps forward, her figure winding up the stairs - higher and higher - a mere speck now-

- Until she disappeared with only promises.

Waiting was the hard part.

'Enchantress.' A voice as hollow and old as the earth below, violent and furious, a voice that crackled and churned every syllable. 'Have you come to free me from my hollow prison and release to this world my revenge'

Medea took a few steps further down the winding flights of cold stone, making her way carefully, daintily around him. Closer to him.

Merlin.

She bowed reverently, deeply, speaking in his tongue. "The world has not known a greater Reaper. We will teach them then, shake everything bit by bit from its slumber, piece by piece break it until-"

'-REVENGE'. After centuries so long committed to a single feeling, it was the only thing that mattered to it. To him. To the churning, bubbling, chaotic innards of Fear that had once been a Reaper, perhaps would have been a weapon but now simply ticked on its own. I DEMAND FREEDOM FROM MY CAGE. A SINGLE BREATH. A TRICKLE OF MY POWER. IT IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO SCATTER SPECKS OF DUST.

"And you shall receive it." The Head Priestess held both her hands outwards, stretched towards the weapon, the staff as if reaching to grasp at it, pure power, brilliant white Fear coalescing off the weapon in waves, threatening to overwhelm her entirely. And yet, she pushed forwards, her hands peeling and burning, her cloak all but destroyed as she took a step, another step, something burning brilliantly in her hands-

- A single gemstone, sparkling a thousand facets. It now rested on the staff, half-embedded into it. A crack was already forming on the surface. Quickly, the second the stone touched the weapon, Medea snapped her hands back, curling into herself slightly to recover from the influx, the flow of Fear even against Merlin's own level of control. Her hands shivered, burned, arms charred and black.

It will not hold. The staff again, angered, though not by the head priestess. It will not be enough. Give me MORE.'

Silence. And then the Head Priestess quivered, slightly under its hatred. "You will gain more. Not now, but soon. You will gain more, this is merely the beginning of an offering."

'An offering.' Though the rage was not quelled, it seemed less chaotic, subdued. 'I have no choice but to accept. Use my power well, my revenge until the next time we meet, Medea..

"Until the next time"' She promised.

More cracks begin to form at the surface of the newly-embedded stone, faster now as Merlin hummed, louder, his voice growing increasingly painful as his Fear pushed against its restraints. The floor shook, stairs crackling as well, ceiling threatening to cave in, rocks and debris falling, quaking-

- From the ground emerged the fragments. Bits and pieces of white first from the staff's Fear, followed by outlines that begin to take on vague colour and shape, outlines that ghost-like, swept through the floors and walls, beyond the ceiling, that coiled around the sleeping Hunter headquarters. They chimed and glimmered erratically, a thousand facets of memories given form, given power and shape.

They moved as one and crashed, a pure wave of solid white power, against the main walls of the facility.

A loud warning siren began to sound, and then the sounds of shouting, stifled screams, even the room where Medea and Merlin sat, rested, glowing an angry red. She could barely hear them, the alarms in the distance -

- WARNING. DEUS EX MAIN BARRIER IS OFFLINE. EMERGENCY BARRIER WILL BE ACTIVATED IN T-MINUS THIRTY MINUTES-

- She closed her eyes and rested just a bit, as the fragments continued to grow, as the wave of white dissolved into thousands of figures, disjointed, discloured figures that grew claws, nails, teeth and wings, that dove and shrieked and consumed everything within its path. The sound, the cacophony of chaos, of fear and surprise, of fragile bodies breaking and snapping, of mortal souls returning to their rightful place in the path. She felt almost at peace.

'I have done my work, you have to complete yours.'

And the single tranquil moment was over. The Head Priestess, no Medea could no longer just hide behind power and watch, like she always did. This time, she would lead the fight. "You are right, my old friend. I will lead them all into ruin."

The morning had begun peacefully enough, the way most mornings did, barring texts and ridiculous demands from potential division leaders that just wanted to ruin trainees' lives or send them on some quest for food, adventures, or just watch them burn. Only a few Hunters were up on the training fields: it was Wednesday, which usually followed Tuesday, which usually followed what was called Disaster Mondays. It was supposed to be a day for sleep, a day to rest, to gather their energy, what remained of their energy back so they could live to fight another day, fight the good fight.

The silence was ruined by a shrill alarm, a loud buzzing noise, louder than even the Insanity invasion or the Christmas Fiasco. Every single facility hallway, room, every single closed area was flashing a brilliant red in warning-

- Not nearly enough as the front gates and wall literally caved in, unfolded, a wave of glistening, pure white peering from the highest point, poised like the tip of a tsunami-

- Before crashing straight into the courtyard, spilling into the training fields and dorm rooms, crystal-like in structure, solidifying, trapping several fleeing Hunters immediately. Others shouted, half-caught in the structure, fracturing the crystalline water wildly with their weapons.

It was a mistake.

The fragments fell to the ground, each one quickly taking shape of their own. A single limb. A clawed arm. A pair of wings, eyes, horns, teeth, some even humanoid as they grew, bubbled, surfaced and took life. No, not life, simply fragments and shards. Shades. Mere copies of atrocities and monsters that walked mindlessly forward. Everything folded in their path: Hunters, traps, everything.

WARNING. DEUS EX MAIN BARRIER IS OFFLINE. EMERGENCY BARRIER WILL BE ACTIVATED IN T-MINUS THIRTY MINUTES

More shards were growing now, pacing slow and zombie-like as they lunged towards the two main structures inside. One of them placed a glowing limb, against the Main Headquarters-

- Only to be pushed aside by an invisible force. More of them continued to push, but the force did not budge one of the individual facility shields. It could not be destroyed, not quite yet.

As Hunters continued to pour out, orders were snapped left and right, relayed over and over again. Secure the main facilities first from invasion, fend off attacking forces and protect the barriers as much they could. They had thirty minutes until the emergency barrier would be reactivated.

What remained of the field, whatever not covered in the odd white crystal was already in chaos, bits and pieces splattered in red, gouged full of holes. Even thirty minutes seemed too much to ask for.

"WARNING. DEUS EX MAIN BARRIER IS OFFLINE. EMERGENCY BARRIER WILL BE ACTIVATED IN T-MINUS THIRTY MINUTES"

For those sensitive students and horsemen, the ones with keen sight or hearing, they might have even heard the shouts from within the facility. There was no missing however, the giant brilliant white tidal wave of power that forced itself past the walls.

It was time.

OOC

This is a GM CUTSCENE ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS THREAD. It is assumed everyone participating has encountered the relevant events.

THE SUMMARY SO FAR PRIOR TO ABOVE EVENTS:

After the Four Clans was destroyed by the Hunters several months ago, the survivors moving in to Halloween to create a new faction known as the "Lost Clans", their Head Priestess and impromptu leader Medea, is unsatisfied at the turn of events. She provokes and begins a turn of events that spell trouble for both the students and Hunters, winding everything around a single word: revenge.

The first setup is trance, the ability to see potential futures and pasts that have already occurred. She showed specific students an event that had occurred in the past: a group of students twenty years ago who mysteriously disappeared off the face of Halloween. They had discovered something right underneath Amityville, a strange lake of some sorts filled with treasures, but not before the Hunters destroyed it and took many, almost all, as prisoners. The remaining students are however, oddly enough, teachers right at Amityville...

This became the spark to light the fire: students became aware and curious of events, they began to see and discover clues related to what was commonly called 'The Defenders'. This lead them to a secret passageway underneath the school secretary's office as well where a series of locker rooms, containing items from the past deceased students are kept. Students did not have much time to ponder over this turn of events as Hunters, once again feeling threatened, make their reappearance. They lure the students yet into another trap, a false lake. Medea however, chooses this moment to make an appearance and show that she is allied and will protect the students. The motive is very thinly held together as her main purpose is of course revenge. Whether she allowed the students to be captured by Hunters is unclear, though this course of action seems spark the students to take further action.

She offers them her help, her guidance, and rallies together the remaining Lost Clans. With the students and horsemen under one faction, even temporarily, they now seek to destroy what has been antagonizing them for so long: Deus Ex Machina.
