Upon entering, the first thing you see is are panels and panels, seemingly running themselves. Runic machinery hums in the background, and the entire wall is covered in a complete arc full of camera and video footage of everything going on, which is currently chaos and mayhem. Some camera screens are broken, others are entirely functional.

At the far end is a giant red button that simply says "EMERGENCY SYSTEM PURGE"

OOC

Once you enter inside, you will have to EXPLORE AROUND to figure out what to do. Each action takes up 1 action point. Post your EXPLORATION ACTIONS in bold red. Ie: Bob stares at the screens carefully.

"s**t."" Lance grit his teeth as he snapped orders into the headset, his fingers banging against the keyboard in front of him quickly. The screens surrounding him began to flicker as he barked out warnings and descriptions, toggling between screens and radio frequencies.

At least his attention was occupied by the screen in front of him. In fact, it just might be possible to sneak around him...

OOC

This room is currently occupied by Lance, the Mist Assistant who looks like this. His attention is currently being held by the cameras in front of him, however that doesn't mean that he'll notice anyone entering.

Whenever you move around, please roll one 20-sided dice. If you roll 1-5 or 15-20, quote me.

A shadowy figure nearly slipped past the Mist assistant. But then paused, leaned down behind the man, and murmured, "Worried? Or perhaps jealous, hm?" The doctor was smiling, seemingly unbothered by the assault and what the current barrier issues could signify.

The initial jump of surprise was replaced by a hard stare, the tight grip Lance held on his chair a clear indication of how deep the doctor's words struck. He did his best to keep his tone civil as he asked, "And what brings you here, sir?"

The doctor's eyebrows raised, and he explain to the other man slowly, as if mobility wasn't the only handicap the assistant was burdened with, "Well, we seem to be under attack, and this building is of particular importance. Fortunately Allan and his little assistant are taking care of the labs for me. So very useful, those Suns. So very little stops them."

Lance turned slowly to look at the monitors, then back at the doctor. "You don't say? I wouldn't have ever guessed, what with the cameras going off line, the screams of people getting t- Daniel? Dan! Lance grabbed his earpiece as if he could strangle a response out of it, his other fist pounding against his armchair. "Goddamnit."

The assistant turned his attention back to the monitors, flicking through them quickly. "Oh, yes. So very nice for those Suns to be out there doing their job defending the place." A few keys were pressed before the flickering images stopped, focusing on an area before he began to click through them. "And what of the Lifes? Simply observing to figure out how full the infirmary is when this is over? Or are you plotting out how many gravestones the trainees get to carve?"

Tsking softly, H waggled a finger at the younger man, "Do have some composure, hm? Life's business is its own, and if your vaunted surveillance abilities are unable to grasp the full picture, well, I can't exactly say you're less the man I thought you were, now can I? But I won't take up anymore of your valuable time, such as it is, and I suppose I do have a bit more on my plate the simply sitting and watching." The doctor exited the room, pausing only to give Lance a little wave, and laugh a little as a screen flickered, revealing a partially destroyed lab and two familiar figures get thrown from the building.

"Ah...I suppose I overestimated the Sun's competence, but with a leader like that..." and then he was exiting, as calmly as he arrived. Another screen flickered, and the hooded figure appeared briefly on the monitor. The Life leader was no longer smiling as he stalked quietly through the halls.

((exiting))

Lance clenched his jaw as the doctor chided him, turning away from the doctor to glare at the screens in front of him. His fists rested on his chair as he struggled to gain control of his emotions. There was little doubt that he was envious of the other hunters: he wanted nothing more than to be out there defending his, no, their home alongside them.

But he was a Mist now. Mists picked up the pieces that everyone else left behind. He released his breath and focused, glaring at the keyboard before he typing various commands into it.

A few minutes later, he received a response. Lance whistled as he noticed the giant Insanity dragon on the screen, grimacing as soon as he caught sight of the damage done so far. So much for the Mist House. It was funny, he realized. First the Lounge, then Aria's room, then the House. Perhaps they should consider an off-site location, considering their luck.

But in the meantime, elsewhere in the town a series of wires and tubes hummed as runes that were previously shut off by the invader's initial attack returned to life. Deus Ex Machina's targeting system was back online.

Lance considered the screen, then typed a few commands before crossing his fingers and hoping it worked.

One... Two... Three... Four... Five... Six... Seven... Eight... Nine... Ten. Lance pumped his fist in the air. All of them were back online.

  1. Jericho (giant insanity dragon)
  2. Senga (war horseman)
  3. Jericho (giant insanity dragon)
  4. Jay (war horseman)
  5. Jericho (giant insanity dragon)

Jericho is listed multiple times on the account of being a GIANT INSANITY DRAGON.

"Humans."

There was no warning, nothing, to the arrival of this horsewoman. She moved in a fluid motion, sliding right behind Lance, cradling his neck gently with a sharp bone dagger. "That is what they do best, is it not? Cower behind the mechanisms of their ancestors and hope that everything will continue to move as they wish. Slaves to themselves, slaves to each other, the weakest puppeting what they cannot control, unable to ever obtain true respect or power."

She smiled. "Ah, but I speak just memories. Now, I must request your presence to accompany me along this path."

His hands rose from the keyboard, splayed to prove that they were empty as he tilted his head back away from the bone dagger at his throat. But her words made those hands curl into fists, his jaw set as he looked away in silence.

"What do you want? If you're asking me to walk with you, I'm going to tell you no. What's the worse that you'll do, kill me?" Lance asked, trying to gauge Medea from his position against her, "It seems that your kind is quite fond of maiming and death. I fear another of your kind has beaten you to the maiming part."

She, Medea, waved a hand. "I'm afraid you mistake my intentions, again. I have no interest in violence, maiming, it is a tool, a necessity, a path of life for many our clan." Eyes sharp, she kept her weapon at tip-point against his throat, her other straying towards the hundreds, thousands of buttons on the panel, hovering over each one for just bare moments. Her body was close, too close, pressed against him, breathing into his ear word by word. "You too are chosen through purpose, through your path, no matter how you view it. Not every path is equal, very rarely do paths join together-"

Her free hand was now straying over a series of buttons as she kept her eyes on the Mist assistant. "- Unless guided by those with power."

In a swift motion, she toppled the chair, Lance's only crutch, not bothering to watch him squirm as she fluidly pressed a sequence of buttons. "Ah, would you not agree that the body is the mind's greatest traitor?" Another click.

"Warning. All emergency power systems are down. Rebooting in T-minus 30 minutes. "

The ground begin to crackle, small slivers at first until crystalline fragments emerged from the opening, spreading out rapidly, growing into figures, two vague shadows of figures. Each one flanked Medea.

"And of course, not all those with power are equal."

Were the situation different and were he still a trainee, Lance probably would have enjoyed how closely Medea was pressed up against him and how tantalizing her breath was against his ear. Presently he was rigid, frozen as he tried to think. Could he call for help? He still had his he- no, he removed it after the doctor left in order to try and bring up the defenses. The doctor was right: he could have done more than sit and watch and call out warnings. Often those warnings came too late. It was too early to tell how some of his fellows fared considering the wounds he witnessed them take.

There was a reason Lance was a Sun originally. This was driven home painfully as Lance found himself on the floor, struggling to drag himself away from the horseman by his fingertips. He turned and pushed himself into a seated position, cursing his uselessness and cursing himself and --

He found himself with his arms pinned to his sides as he was picked up. Useless. Lance didn't bother struggling. Even if he could shake himself free, it was highly unlikely he would be able to run away or stand and fight. He settled for slumping in their grasp, pulled down by the weight of shame as they carried him out.
