ESSENTIALS
Name: Ygrette Hawk (pronounced Ig-rit)
Nickname: -
Age: 20
Social Class: Indentured Servants - Forced into it after she was caught stealing food.
Occupation: Eyrie Hand.
Ygrette spends her day's tending to birds for the house she was sold to. The rarer species like Kassenhawk are her main priority. She makes sure they are well fed, well groomed and healthy. She does not train the birds, that duty goes to the man she works under, however she does take them outside so they can spread their wings. Then they are the less valuable species like Nachtenwhar and Nesting Fowl. She raises these birds so they can be hunted on the grounds by her master's and cooked up for feasts. The Nobles love a good hunt, and a good feast. Every so often someone will come down to see the birds, and it is her duty to stand there silently and lock up the cages once they are done. She see's the birds as her friends, and often talks to them, in truth she thinks it is a shame that they live their lives in cages, maybe one day they can fly free together.
APPEARANCE
Height: Around 5'6.
Build: Scrawny. Ygrette does not have many curves, and her figure is rather boyish.
Colouration: Healthy pink skin with rosacea on her shoulders and cheeks. She also has quite a few freckles scattered around the place. She has auburn hair, quite a warm shade and she usually wears it in a simple, messy side ponytail (see avi) which comes to her midback, she has a messy fringe that frames her face. Her eyes are a pale grey, with dark eyelashes - They really are too big for her head.
Best Feature: Ygrette has quite good bone structure and a pretty face.
Worst Feature: Her skin, it is a mess, it is blotchy and red in places, and she has numerous freckles and moles scattered around her body. I am not talking about cute beauty spots, I am talking serious freckle coverage here. She also has quite wonky teeth due to her poor diet.
Distinctive Marks: Her freckles and her red cheeks. Also numerous bird scratches, talons are pretty sharp you know! She has a bandage over her left eye, she still has the eye, but she can not see out of it - It has been a default since birth.
General Clothing Style: Browns and creams mainly. She does not wear accessories as such, since she does not have a penny to her name, however she wears a lot of fur and she usually attaches to her attire bird feathers she finds scattered around the Eyrie. Something practical more than fashionable.
Hair and Make-up: Her hair has been described in her colouration, she does not wear make-up, however she has quite dark circles around her eyes, making her look constantly tired.
PERSONALITY
Peoples Person -
She likes to talk, dear goddess she likes to talk. She is a rather friendly person and likes to socialise. Having to hold her tongue in that house drives her crazy, so when she is able to interact with her own class she takes advantage of it. She looks out for her friends, and if you are in her good books she will treat you like any friend would want to be treated, with respect, kindness and generosity.
Emotionally Driven -
Ygrette has a temper, and when she is angry she shouts. When she is happy, she laughs rather loudly and when she is bored she will fidget. She can be read like a book and is not against letting her feelings be known. She will act on her gut most of the time, rather than her head. She has a strong believe in fate, and if she can not shake off a feeling she will address it, taking it as a sign. She tries to keep quiet whilst at work, however sometimes if the feeling is too overwhelming she will open her big mouth, and instantly regret it.
Hands On -
If she needs to do something, then it will be done. She is not shy when it comes to hard work, and is not lazy like those pompous nobles. She works for a living, and takes pride on her work, making sure its always done to the best of her ability. She does not put things off, and if something is on her mental to-do-list it shall be done, and never forgotten. She will never be too tired or too unmotivated to finish something once she has started.
Uneducated -
Ygrette is pretty dim, she does not know how to read, she does not know how to write and she is not very good at counting. Her language is also pretty bad, and she often mispronounces words and uses slang, she is not one for all that posh speak and does not really know how to act around her superiors. Which is why she often does not say anything at all. She knows how to do her job, everything else does not really matter. She will never be cultured, and does not really appreciate music or poetry.
Boyish -
Growing up on the street with a small group of orphans means that she did not really have a chance to develop as a lady, seeing as she was the only girl in the group. She is not exactly what you would call a picture of femininity, and does not know all those fancy words or ladylike mannerisms. She is a girl, and is proud to be such. She does not want to be a boy, she does not think she is one - however he behaviour is not something that most girls would agree with. She would rather rough house with her friends than drink tea, and she would rather have a beer than do some stitching. In truth, she is quite jealous of all these pretty maidens, and she instantly dislikes most of them.
Superstitious -
She is a believer in witch craft, curses and general bad voodoo. If she sees a black cat, she will walk on the over side of the street, she tries not to stand on cracks in the path and is always doing little rituals to try combat bad luck. It might come with being uneducated, however she believes all the ghost stories about the forest and will not go anywhere near one of the Touched, they are not normal, and they will only bring with them bad voodoo! If there is a story about it, be it werewolf, ogre, witch or warlock, she will most likely believe them to be real. If not now, once upon a time.
ABILITIES
Street Wise -
Before she was sold to a Noble House, Ygrette ran with the street rats, it is her home territory and she knows how to handle herself. She knows how to pick a mark, how to act the innocent and how to navigate the streets to avoid the guards. She is able to sleep in alley ways, she knows what food is edible when foregoing and how to keep alive when you have nothing. She takes what she gets and gets on with it. She takes calculated risks, and weighs up risk to profit very successfully. It is how she made her living as a thief, until she was caught.
Dirty Hands -
She is not against a little bit of grafting, I mean she spends her days cleaning up bird poop, so a bit of dirt is not something that puts her off. She is used to every bad smell the body can produce and is not squeamish when it comes to things like vomit, blood, or poop. She is also a little rough around the edges, she has had all the hassle that comes with being a girl and knows how to quickly plant a knee in someone's crotch and run off into the shadows. She can take care of herself, and yes its landed her a couple of punches in the past, but her bruises have made her skin stronger.
Little Birds -
Ygrette still has connections on the streets, and uses this to her advantage. She usually hears gossip from the house's servants, and when she goes into the lower class residence she is always on the look out for her old connections. She is in the know, and this is a handy thing!
HOBBIES
Bird watching, star gazing, collecting information... Anything to break up her routine, she can not read or write, and does not have money to spend on activities, so her options are really limited. She will sometimes flirt her way into a free beer in the local tavern when she gets time from her occupation. She also likes hearing stories about magic, you can hear a lot from travellers drunken ramblings!

Birds Of The Land
Bird info - So its easy for me to get to!
Nesting Fowl - colorful, not unlike parrots with thick bills and long claws, they fly rather like a hurled bag of produce. They are loud and generally unpleasant to deal with because they can be curiously smart, which means that they will make great efforts to conceal the location of their eggs. This being the case they are raised primarily by the lower classes who can not afford to ignore the search for the large eggs they produce, and are willing at times to deal with the chase needed to serve one for dinner.
Kassenhawk – Something between a vulture and a barn owl. This creature has a long flexible neck; thick body and soft rounded wings make this a fierce eyed predator on silent wings. Its feathers can range from very light browns mixed with grey to mottled black, both of which help it hide in the forest. Its eyes are almost always black as coals, but occasionally one will breed with a bright green reminiscent of the strangest places in the forest.
Nachtenwar - Scavenging birds who can be found around fresh kills, some hunters use the Nachtenwar to find fallen comrades; others say that if you find a kill that lacks Nachtenwar that it is a sure sign that the beast or man found was prey of The Marwyn. Old myths suggest that the Nachtenwar are the eyes of the spirits, carrying with them lost souls to be consumed by the woods. The best to be hoped for off of these birds is to sell their fine dark feathers.
