Name: Aria
Age: 34
Background: Aria's mother is a waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe, named Tetrekua. Aria's father was a traveler from the Fire Nation, and a firebender named Kaizok. He went to the Northern Water Tribe to see if he could see the Spirit Oasis. Tetrekua was the current waterbender in charge of keeping the Spirit Oasis safe and clean, and Kaizok was directed to go see her about his request. As soon as their eyes met, they fell in love. Kaizok decided to stay in the Northern Water Tribe, and he made a betrothal necklace for Tetrekua, and they were soon wed. A year later, Tetrekua was pregnant. Close to her time to give birth, Tetrekua felt something wasn't right, and she could no longer feel the baby's kick. Tetrekua, being a talented healer, tried to heal the baby from the inside, but she didn't feel it work. Tetrekua and Kaizok were devastated over the real possibility that their child is already dead. As a last attempt to heal the unborn baby, Tetrekua was allowed to give birth at the Spirit Oasis, in hopes that the Moon Spirit Yue will look upon them with good grace and breathe life into their baby. Tetrekua gave birth to a daughter with closed eyes, jet black hair, fair skin, and not breathing. Kaizok took the baby and laid her gently in the Spirit Oasis water as he cried upon her little body. Her hair turned as white as snow, she opened her sapphire blue eyes, and began to cry. Tetrekua and Kaizok named her Aria. But her parents weren't the first thing Aria saw.
Since Tetrekua was heavily connected to the Spirit Oasis, Aria has a natural connection to the Spirit World - a much less natural connection than the avatar, but far greater than most people. She was in the Spirit World first, before the physical world. She was scooped up by Yue, who kissed her directly in the forehead, giving her life, and her personal blessing.
As Aria grew up, she found out she was a talented waterbender, and being 3 and 6 years younger
than Tarrlok and Noatak (respectively), she would secretly watch their waterbending practice (NOT the bloodbending training). She would practice her waterbending herself, by doing the moves Tarrlok and Noatak were doing. Aria was a perfectionist, and she would spend hours to perfectly get one wrist movement down. During the blizzard (that Noatak disappeared in), Aria's parents weren't in the village (they were off getting supplies), and she was all alone in her hut. Her fire was growing dim, and she didn't know how to make it grow, and she was afraid to leave her hut. She placed both hands by the fire to keep them warm, and she was praying the fire would grow bigger. She felt a burst of energy from her hands, and saw that she was creating a fire. This didn't make any sense to her, as she was already a waterbender, and Aang was alive when she was born. Scared and confused, young Aria huddled herself in a corner and began to cry.
Yue appeared and sat next to Aria, trying comfort her. Aria asked Yue if she knew what was happening to her, and Yue explained, "You are very special Aria. You're the first child to have been kissed from the Moon Spirit BEFORE birth. The first world you were in, was the Spirit World. My kiss on your forehead must have opened up a bond to another element you are naturally close to - fire. This seems to be the beginning of an evolution in benders - those who have an unnaturally large connection to the spirit world, may develop a bond with another element under extreme conditions. My dear Aria, I will always look out for you. I gave you life. It was my gift to you, I know you won't waste it." Yue then kissed Aria's forehead once more, and vanished. From that day, Aria decided to keep her fire wielding to herself, and only practice it when she is completely alone.
When the blizzard was over, her parents came back, and told her that Noatak did not return with Tarrlok and their father. Aria rushed over to meet Tarrlok and asked him if it was true. When Tarrlok confirmed it, Aria did all she could to comfort him. As the years went by, Aria and Tarrlok grew close - close enough for Tarrlok to tell Aria the truth about his father and bloodbending, and close enough for Aria to tell Tarrlok about her dual-wielding elements. Aria soon convinced Tarrlok to show her the bloodbending technique, and although he only showed her twice, it was all she needed to practice on her own.
When Aria hit the age of 18, after mastering waterbending, she decided to leave the Northern Water Tribe and go travel the world, like her father Kaizok. She told Tarrlok all the places she wanted to see, and promised him she'd keep in contact. Aria traveled all over the Earth Kingdom, and found herself at Ty Lee's doorstep, where she learned, and mastered, Ty Lee's style of chi-blocking and movements by the age of 22. She learned how to incorporate a bit of her waterbending in Ty Lee's style, to make it her own. From there, she traveled to the Fire Nation, posing as a firebender wanting to master the art. She assumed a temporary new identity, wearing a black wig. She soon mastered firebending and merged it with her chi-blocking style by age 28. She then traveled to low-populated towns until she was 34. At that point, she got word that Tarrlok was an important councilman in Republic City, and she made her way there. The first thing she did, was break into Tarrlok's office, and surprised him. He was happy to see her. After she learned about the Equalists and what they're trying to accomplish, Aria couldn't help but understand where they were coming from - for she saw the aweful things bending gangs did to regular people who just want to make a living. She decided she's going to attend an Equalist rally, and see if she can help teach them chi-blocking.
