Almost all of the hot chocolates Rin made had been claimed. There was still two; nearly twice as big as the others had been and they seemed to be extra frothy too.
Rin carefully slid one closer to herself as she watched the door intently. She sighed and peeled her eyes off the door and onto the mug after some time. No need to look too desperate for gal time.

Sasha still felt terrible for the way that her last meeting with Rin had ended. Sure, she'd been the one to spend a day or so in the infirmary, but that didn't excuse her own actions prior to that.
When Sasha finally appeared, she was toting a large box - gift wrapped in green - which she set before Rin with a tense smile.
"Hi."
She wasn't incredibly fond of hot chocolate, but she'd drink it so that there were no hurt feelings.

"Hi," the look on Rin's face seemed to immediately light up in the presence of the other woman. The gift? Well, Rin'd be a liar if she said that didn't increase the delight.
She slid the gift box towards herself with a curious look that she turned from the box to Sasha and back to the box again, "Is... is this for me?" her tone calm but it was clearly laced with edges of supressed excitement.

"Of course it is. I'd.. wanted to give it to you, um. Sooner."
Sasha cleared her throat and took a seat.
"Open it. I bought it on leave - if you don't like it, I can take it .. well, maybe I can't take it back but maybe someone else could find a use for it."
She took a quick sip of the hot chocolate, clearing her throat as she watched Rin.

Rin tore into it like some ravenous beast. She was careful and detailed with most things - gifts weren't one of them. It was like watching a lone lioness taking down a baby zebra; somehow teeth came into it. The paper-flesh jagged and torn fell by the wayside and soon revealed the precious desirable innards.

"It's a label maker. I .. I know how you like to keep your things tidy." Sasha cleared her throat again and peered into Rin's face. Did she like it? Did she hate it? Sasha had put a lot of thought into the gift. She'd never once bought a real present for anyone before - her recent leave had given her an opportunity to go shopping for those important to her. "I thought it would be a nice gift -- so you could label things in your room." She pressed her lips together and watched Rin carefully.

Rin froze. The look on her face was best described as stunned, it then melted and soon she looked like she was going to cry... but she was smiling. She brushed a finger gently over the screen and looked up at Sasha. She tried to say something but it burbled out as nonsense as she was on the verge of sobbing.
She looked down at it again and after a quick flick through the manual punched in several letters and even a few symbols. When she was satisfied she pressed print and a thin scroll curled out of the machine and with a soft kch it cut itself. She carefully peeled the yellow paper to reveal the sticky backing and slapped the label gently to Sasha's clothing. If she were to look down she would see an upside down 'Best Friend' flanked with hearts on either end.
If she looked back up at Rin, it would be to see her slowly close her eyes, smile big and mouth the words, "Thank you".
It was the most thoughtful thing anyone had ever done for her and she was now clutching it close to her chest.

Sasha did glance down at the label that Rin made, a weird little smile twisting her lips when she turned her attention back to Rin. The other woman had the most blissful smile on her face, and Sasha couldn't help but chuckle softly at the sight.
"I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure what to get you. Jerry was simple. The doctor was a little more difficult, but you... you took some time to figure out."
That being said, Sasha took another sip of the hot chocolate and watched her friend closely.

Rin gave the label maker a tight squeeze like a child might a dolly and she heaved a soft contented sigh, "N-now... I feel kinda guilty... this gift is so am-amazing," her voice was harsh and raspy but she swallowed hard and smiled.
Then continuing again, "I just... ... no one has ever... ... and... you.. well," deep breaths Rin, "You captured me so well."
Her body slowly started to untense around the gift and she scooted her chair towards Sasha a bit, "Is there anything you want labeled? I'm dying to try this puppy out," there seemed to be a huge smile frozen on her face now that hurt so bad but there was nothing she could do about it.

It bothered Sasha that Rin might feel guilty about the gift that she'd given Sasha. It bothered her a lot; even after the terrible thing that Sasha had done to Rin, the woman's loyalty hadn't wavered. There was something to be said for that, really.
"Don't feel guilty. If you feel guilty, I'll feel... even worse than I already do." She shook her head and took a moment to stared down into the milk-chocolate depths of her drink. Sasha was silent for a stretch of time before she lifted her gaze back up to meet Rin's pale eyes.
"I want to apologize - and.. and don't tell me not to. I did something really terrible, and while you might not even realize it right now, I want to explain things as best I can." A smile ghosted across her lips.
"And.. after that, you can label whatever you want in my room. Or we can go to yours and hang out while you get started there."

Rin kept the label maker carefully in her lap now, both hands gently resting on top as she watched Sasha curiously. She didn't immediately understand why Sasha would feel bad, but then she went on to explain.
Her smile relaxed and almost fluidly slid into a frown. This was about the fight, wasn't it?
She glanced away quickly and nodded her head. Honestly, what had happened that day had been eating her up ever since. Denial though was her oldest and dearest friend, if you could pretend nothing happened long enough; it eventually didn't. But this... it was hard to deny. Something might be wrong with her friend and denial about someone else; someone you care about. It felt wrong, horribly wrong.
She finally spoke, "Yes, I'm all ears," and then was silent again as she kept her word to that statement. She was waiting for however long her friend needed now.

Sasha was quiet for a long, long time as she stared down into the rapidly cooling cup of chocolate. There were no answers to be found in the rich brown depths, but it gave her something to focus on as she gathered her thoughts.
A few minutes passed before Sasha's shoulders drooped.
"I came home from leave and I found Jerry in our room covered in gore." She shook her head briefly. "We don't need to discuss what happened on the trip; I know you were there." Sasha's brows drew together as she continued to stare into her mug.
"I was pretty furious." A small smile. "That's ..actually putting it mildly. I was angrier than I'd ever been in my life. Everything - everything - had compressed down into this small little piece of rage, and I guess I'd never really realized how repressed it was - but coming home and finding my boyfriend like he was - and then learning that my flute had been stolen?"
She finally lifted her gaze to meet Rin's. Her expression was hard, harsh. There was nothing blatantly shining in her eyes, just a churning tempest of indiscernible emotion.
"Suddenly there was something to focus all of that on. Someone."

Rin listened to Sasha speak, keenly hanging on to every word as it escaped. She bobbed her head as Sasha pointed out the trip they had been on and the fact she was present.
She sunk guiltily into her seat. It was her fault Jerry was even there, her fault he was covered in that gore, her fault he was so traumatized to be waiting TWO DAYS caked in gore for Sasha to come back... She would apologize; but Sasha wasn't done talking.
She was furious? No wonder. Beyond furious? Understandable too - what's worse was her flute had been taken too? Rin's eyes widened at this. She knew how much that flute meant to her. Rin'd rage all the same if some a*****e scarred her lover then stole her lucky ******** shirt.
Sasha's harsh gaze was met with something much... softer. Rin looked concerned as she scooted her chair closer to Sasha's, "Is that why you wanted to duel so bad?" her voice was light and questioning. Not in the least bit judging. Everyone has been angry before, not everyone treated it the same however.

"No. And.. I'm not ready to talk about all that just yet. I just.. I was able to work out a lot of emotion and anger through more... unconventional means. Specifically, beating Rep's a**." Sasha cleared her throat. "I know you're his friend. I guess I just wanted to explain my reasons for doing what I did. My reasons for ... I mean, I don't even know if you've heard about it. From Rep, I mean. And.. I'm still angry. About a lot of things, you know? And there's.. everything is complicated, but I just don't... I need to figure it out for myself before I can expect anyone else to understand." She pushed away the mug of chocolate. "That's all."

Rin quietly nodded as she listened. It was when Sasha finally had her say that she did speak, "That's alright. I wont force you. All I can say is... I might not understand; I might never understand. But I'm still willing to hear when you are willing to talk. Hear and not judge. Just like..."
She physically perked up and smiled, "Well, just like you've let me do from time to time," she chuckled rolling the label maker in her lap, "I mean... you didn't make fun of... instead you got me... ahaha, crap. I'm going to start crying again."
She fell into a calmer smile before turning her gaze back on Sasha, "I might overreact to things like... .. I'm sorry I did about your dad... it's not my place to judge him; I'd never even met him. I would have been upset too if you were saying those things about my dad..."
She heaved a quick sigh and looked away again, "You were sharing something important with me and I just... I'm really sorry, it was about you - not me."
