The night was still young, but it was fading quickly as time drew on. Worry continued to flood into the mind of Mohombi as his paws carried him out of the dens of Pride Rock and out onto the rocks that surrounded the massive formation. Originally he had been set to search for Ankara, his loving mate and tell her the news that they were to be grandparents soon, hopefully even before daybreak. His mind had wandered though and so had his paws as he soon found himself out in the cool air of the Pridelands. Orange eyes scanned his surroundings, originally curious on how he had managed to leave without truly noticing. With something of a shrug, the hunter sat himself down upon the rocks. Perhaps this would give him some time to think by himself before being thrust back into the role of being a father when he was needed again.

Ankara returned with a hunting party, the leg of a zebra in her mouth as she helped to drag the haul back to the rest of the pride. She let the leg fall from her mouth and the felled beast was left for the hungry. With that over Ankara was looking forward to a bit of a rest, maybe a quiet lie in the sun before it went down. However her plans were quickly sidetracked upon finding Mohombi sitting on the rocks outside the den. “Mohombi!” Ankara quickened her pace towards him, happy to see her mate after the day’s hunt, however as she neared he seemed distracted, as if something troubled his mind. “Is everything alright?” She questioned, making her way atop the rocks where he sat.

The world had some kind of humor or that was what Mohombi thought at least as his head turned to see his mate come running towards him. Of course the sight of her brought a smile to his maw just long enough for it to be seen before fading away as his mind faded back to worry. With a shake of his head and mane, Mohombi replied, "No, Nzasi is delivering her cubs and I worry for both her and them. Zimran is already within Pride Rock aiding her. They sent me out here so they could stay focused." The softly spoken words were heavy with worry as his head lowered to stare at the rocks beneath him.

Ankara’s head immediately turned to look back at Pride Rock as he said this. Of course she was worried as well. Nzasi was young, and Ankara’s daughter. These things only seemed to make the possibility of problems happening more apparent to the lioness. “I’m sure Zimran will do everything she can to make sure both Nzasi and the cubs are alright.” She spoke, truly believing it, but that did not hide the hint of worry that snuck into her voice. Her gaze turned away from the cave and back to Mohombi, a faint smile on her maw as she tried to change the subject, an attempt at possibly getting their minds on other things, if only for a few moments. “Grandcubs. I didn't realize I was getting so old.” She chuckled, though it was soft and half-hearted.

She did always know what to say to put his mind at least. Zimran was a great nanny and a wonderful midwife. She had already helped the family greatly since their discovery of Nzasi's condition. He nodded his head turning away from the cave and back to his mate with a faint smile. "Grandparents..." Mohombi echoed softly, pondering the word greatly as he did. "Well, if you're old then you're aging very well because you're just as beautiful as the day I met you."

The compliment made her giggle softly, her face burning lightly beneath the fur. "Oh you charmer." Ankara chuckled lightly once more, moving herself to sit closer to her mate. The thought of her little girl, not so little any more, having grandcubs made the lioness think of the rest of her children. So grown up already, and soon they would all be finding their own way in the world, perhaps even without Ankara and Mohombi. Their lives were going on, and Ankara couldn't help but think of when they were still young. She let the thought of cubs drift from her mind. Nzasi needed them right now.
"I wonder how many she will have." Ankara continued softly, almost as if to herself.

Mohombi's face dropped open at the thought of so many little ones running around. Moments passed and he finally managed to mutter out a few words. "I hope not too many. I'm not how we'd manage with another litter of four or five running around the dens. Especially if they're anything like Nzasi was and like to wander around the edges of the pride." Oh just thinking about little paws though, while dreading having to watch them, was exciting none the less.

Ankara glanced over at him, amusement upon her face at his expression. "Well with Nzasi as their mother I'm sure she'll keep them in line, and we'll be there to help should she needed, as will the nannies of the pride." Of course she specifically meant Zimran, who up to this point had been such an immense help.
Her attention turned back to the den, feeling a bit anxious again, but excited at the same time. Their family would soon be growing again. It seemed like such a short time ago that she had been on her own, and she didn't miss that life for a second.

A smile crept up on Mohombi's face, completely unmeaning to allow it to wear itself so comfortably on his maw. The lion approached his mate, closing the gap between him and her. Mohombi placed his head under Ankara's chin, rubbing his neck against her's as he nuzzled against her. "I'm sure you're right. With so many other members of the pride, they'll grow up in a loving, yet protective home." Though something nagged over and over again in the back of his mind. Mohombi had simply dismissed it though as his fatherly duties and responsibilities of protecting his daughter and family, and then now there would be more additions to add to that, causing him to worry when there was no reason to.
"You know..." Mohombi's purred as he pulled away, the smile replaced with a grin. "Our children are grown, out finding their own place in the circle of life. Perhaps it is about time to continue adding to it?"

Ankara nodded lightly, nuzzling back. "That they will." She agreed. The Pridelands was, if nothing else, a wonderful place to grow up. The worries of food and dangers of the outside world and travelling it alone were of no worry in this place.
At his suggestion at further adding to their family Ankara smiled lightly and quirked her brows. "I have been thinking about that lately as well." Ankara leaned forward and licked Mohombi's muzzle. Her attention was drawn away by the sight of a lioness coming forward. She could not recall her name off the top of her mind, but recognized her as a nanny. Ankara leaned away as the lioness neared them.
"Zimran has asked me to bring the two of you in." The lioness spoke, a smile on her face.
Ankara nodded, turning to Mohombi as she stood. "For now let's see to our daughter and make sure she and her new little ones are alright." She spoke softly, nuzzling him once more before following the lioness towards the den.

Swallowing hard, Mohombi nodded and made way to follow after his mate back into the dens. He hadn't heard Nzasi calling for him so that was at least a good sign if there was any to be had. With a pounding heart threatening to beat out of his chest, the male lion took careful steps forward, having to think about each one. At least Ankara would be there with him, maybe that would make this entire experience a little easier.
