They take all reports seriously and you can remain completely anonymous, so you have nothing to fear by calling.
I recently had to call on my employer of all people after witnessing her verbally berate her 11-year-old daughter in front of not only me but the little girl's peers as well. I realize it is possible that I might have over-reacted to this (I already know I have absolutely zero-tolerance for abuse), but I'd rather call and have it turn out to be nothing than not call and allow her to continue to be abused. If the mother has no qualms about verbal belittlement in public, I can only imagine what might be going on at the home.
