User Image Minipia had gotten over the shock of capture, but it had taken a while. This male lion that had claimed her was not that bad when one took the others into consideration, but he still was an arse as far as the hybrid was concerned. It was like being at the tail end of an elephant in that you might not get the tusks or trampled over, but you still got a lot of crap. The leopon was not enjoying her 'crap' in the least. She had barely gotten started on her own when this male came a long. She was not by any means used to the things he wanted from her.

Minipia had hardly been used to hunting by herself and really was focusing on rabbits and such smaller things to survive, now this male wanted her to hunt for HIM. She was not sure she could do it and the other Thralls had seemed more interested in what they were told to do than helping her. After the first incident of her bringing a rabbit home, though she was certainly not going to make THAT mistake again. She would either swipe from what the other Thralls brought in for the pride, since there were Thralls that were common property whose kills weren't claimed, or she would have to keep trying until she got something for him.

The leopon sighed as she laid in the den thinking about these things. She knew that damn lion was going to be back soon. He had told her to stay in his den and not make a sound. She was told this every time he went out that he did not take her along. She was not sure why he said this, but she just did her best to listen. She really missed her daddy right now. He was so nice to her. This whole situation was just so alien. She wanted to run back to her daddy and hide from everything, but she could not do that. That was the worst part was knowing she was so alone.

There used to be a time when Lesedi felt comfortable in the privacy of his den. In there, he was not an Outlander still doing his best to prove himself or an iron-blooded Reaver who spent his time training or on Vikings. He was just Lesedi again. It had been his space, his and no one else’s, where he could take refuge when things became too… social for his taste.

And then SHE’d come. Like a boulder upsetting the otherwise smooth surface of the calm ocean sea, that damn leopon had turned his life upside down. She was noisy and useless. She never did things the way he wanted her to, she didn’t know when to talk and when to shut up and most of all, the Reaver was being badgered about her mercilessly around the pride. She was an exotic rarity and there many who wanted to see her and many others who obviously wanted more than that. A couple of Reavers had even asked to “borrow” her and the idea bothered Lesedi on many more levels than he’d liked to admit. Most of all, Lesedi did not share. He was possessive, as he’d always been and Minipia, for better or worse, was his and only his. Lesedi had started challenging anyone who asked to borrow or trade for his thrall and pretty soon, the offers and requests had stopped coming. In the end, it meant Lesedi was coming to his den later than usual, with fresh cuts and bruises on a daily basis and a mood so foul that could scare most away.

While he wasn’t heartless enough to give the girl up to the first passerby who crossed his path, Lesedi sure could regret having ever picked up a leopon for a thrall… or at the very least make her regret it. There was some satisfaction in that, he supposed.

“What are you laying there for, doing nothing?” he barked at her when he entered the den. It wasn’t fair and he knew it, since he’d been the one to tell her to stay in the den. It was too dangerous for her to get out on her own before most of the pride recognized her as his personal thrall, after all.

Minipia's ears went tight against her skull the moment the male came into the den. When he spoke, she scrunched her head down flat against her paws. He was ALWAYS mad it seemed and she was not sure it actually had anything to do with her. She thought he might just be an angry lion and that he really just liked making her miserable. Maybe he just liked making EVERYBODY miserable? No, that could not be so, he was not mean to that black and white lioness. Maybe that was his mate? But if that was so, then why was she not around more?

The lion made so little sense to Minipia. He had no female in his den, but the one female that came around, he acted all nice to and yet did not do anything with her that the leopon had seen. Was that what made him angry? If so, why didn't he do to the lioness what he had done to her? He was bigger than the lioness, he could just take her and make HER do his bidding, let poor Minipia go. But no, he talked and teased and joked with that lioness and yelled and made fun of Minipia. She just couldn't understand him at all.

She did know one thing, though. He terrified her. It took all her nerve to speak up and answer his question. "You told me not to leave... and not to make a sound. I cannot clean the den without making sounds... or do anything else without going outside." The leopon tried to look as small as possible, hoping he would just leave her alone. It was not a likely option, but she could hope. She hoped a lot. Mostly that she could just wake up and none of this was real, but every time she woke up she was still here. She could not escape this horrible reality.

Well, that answer had been rather predictable. He couldn’t really argue against the logic of her words but then again, he didn’t really have to.

“Shut up.” He said simply, somewhat annoyed by the way she cowered before him, as if she was completely unaware that the true danger lied outside his den. He sighed quietly under his breath, before looking at Minipia again. It seemed she had complied with his orders so she was probably hungry and bored.

“Come, I’m hungry.” He told her simply, standing at the den as if waiting for her to follow him. “If you can’t hunt properly, you’ll have to drag a proper meal another Thrall caught and bring it to my den once you’re allowed to go out on your own.” It wasn’t that he didn’t trust to go out on her own but it was best that he took her around the pride to show everyone she was claimed first and maybe quell the darn curious wave she’d caused. He doubted she’d know what to say if a Reaver tried to get a little too cozy with her.

“But I expect you to get better at hunting. I won’t have everyone say that the Thrall I brought home is a burden to the pride. It puts my honor at stake.” Honestly, he wished he could just give her to Tal. He probably would if she wasn’t such a useless gift who'd most likely destroy the crafter’s wares and get in her way. Besides, part of him was certain Tal would see right through his excuses and figure out why he was giving a female leopon to a female Freeborn.

Minipia shut her mouth the moment the lion started to speak. She whimpered a bit at the tone in his voice. She was not about to make him angrier by talking over him or such things. She certainly was not stupid enough to try to make things bad for him. If she annoyed him, she had no doubts he would make her life hell more than what it already was. The leopon could not think about how much worse the lion might be able to make her life. It was hard enough to wrap her mind around the situation as it was.

Minipa hesitated only a moment before getting her paws under her and standing to follow the male lion. He was hungry. He was hungry. She had been in the den all day not allowed to move for fear of making a noise. He had at least been outside where he could find something to eat if he wanted. SHE had not had that luxury. The leopon could not help feeling like she wanted to whine in frustration about the thought that he was complaining that HE was hungry. Her stomach did the grumbling on her behalf so she did not have to whine at the male.

Minipia nodded to Lesedi and kept her mouth shut on any kind of official answer. She had just been thinking about the hunting situation herself, earlier, when he hadn't been here to scare the crap out of her in person. She was going to have to learn to hunt better. Had she been out on her own she would have had all the time in the world to learn it, but no, no she had to get captured by a stupid big lion. So now she had to learn it in a short time or face the wrath of the big lump of muscle that called himself a lion. She swore he was really a Rock Python in a lion's pelt.

Thank the Gods, she was finally following after him quietly. Well, for the most part. He ignored her growling stomach without much thought.

“The other Thralls will help you. If they don’t by their own accord, I’ll make sure they do.” There was edge to his voice that implied that he wasn’t going to use polite words to get them to do what he wanted.

“When we’re outside the den, you must address me as something respectful. Reaver Lesedi, sir, whatever you want as long as it sounds polite.” Lesedi decided to get a few of the lessons out of the way since she seemed to be behaving. “If a Freeborn or a Reaver talk to you, be polite but don’t forget that you are mine. I’ve claimed you as my personal Thrall and you will obey no one but myself.” This was actually more for her protection than anything else. The last thing he wanted was for a Reaver to use his influence to threaten Minipia behind his back. “Same thing with Thralls. How you act around them is your business but they don’t have the right to order you around because you’re new. Remember, you are mine and that’s what you’ll tell anyone who asks you. Do you understand?”

Minipia kept her ears flat to her head and looked at her paws as she padded along behind the lion. If other Thralls did not help her, he was going to hurt them too, wasn't he? Hear heart sank a bit. She was not even going to be able to make friends among the others like herself at this rate. Then again, that was probably what he wanted. He already kept her in his den all the time. He must want her lonely and cowed. He certainly had succeeded in making her that way, so he probably wanted to keep her this way now. Threaten the other Thralls and she would never have a reason to want to leave the den.

She had to be respectful when talking to him? He scared the hell out of her, so she did not want to address him if she did not have to do it. At least he wasn't telling her she had to listen to the other idiot lions around here, or take bullying from anyone else. She only had to worry about bullying from him. That did not make her feel much better. She wished she was strong enough to beat his arrogant arse in, but she knew she was not even close to strong enough and would not try only to get herself beaten bloody. There were small ways to make this existence more pleasant, and she was going to use them.

Minpia almost missed the question at the end of the little speech the lion gave. She had been so busy grumbling inside her head about everything else he had said that the last bit was hard to hear. As such it took her a few moments to realize that he had asked a question and required an answer from her. The leopon did not look up from watching her paws. "I understand, Reaver Lesedi." His name sounded funny. Not to mention that title of his! Maybe that was why he was so mean? He knew he had a ridiculous name and title to go with it?

Lesedi kept talking as he made his way to a small gathering of Thralls but he was losing some of his confrontational tone as the leopon seemed to be really paying attention to his words.

The more they walked together, the more others would start to recognize her as his Thrall and pretty soon he wouldn’t have to worry about protecting her. Maybe he could ask Tal to make some sort of trinket that could more easily identify her as a claimed Thrall. It was probably better than to mark her coat… probably. After a while, Lesedi figured Minipia could spend all day away from his den as long as she had a carcass and comfortable beddings at the end of a hard day’s work. Hopefully, they wouldn’t need to see each other any more than the strictly necessary.

“Most Freeborn and Reavers will address you as Thrall but you should use respectful terms with them as well.” He didn’t really know what to call her. She’d told him her name, of course but Lesedi hated it. It was too cutesy and any shortening of it might be mistaken for a sign of affection. “Come here, Mini!” – Not bloody likely…

“I wasn’t born in this pride but it didn’t take long for me to adjust to it. It will be the same for you. Things you do and say will reflect on me, so watch yourself.” His tone grew stern for a few moments as he watched her with intense eyes. “I don’t expect much from you. You just have to bring me food, keep the den clean and comfortable and stay out of my way.” From his personal experience, there were a lot worse fates than this.

Minipia wondered at how nice he was starting to sound. There was not so much as a growl in his voice for a lot of this conversation. It was rather out of place with what she had experienced so far. He had always seemed like he was on the brink of lashing at her before. What had changed that he was being so nice now? Even just a little big ago when he had come into the den he was being an absolute arse. Was it the subject they were on? Something she had done? Maybe he caught a glimpse of that lioness that visited him and gave him things.

The leopon really wished she knew what the cause was so she could make sure it happened more often. She was half afraid he would go back to being mean to her and half afraid that this might be some trick of his. Be nice to her so she did something wrong and he could justify lashing out at her. She just was not sure what to think right now. The return of his stern tone brought her out of it. There it was, so he was not going nice on her. Whatever his reason for the nice tone it was gone now. She would just have to make sure she did not get lulled if it happened again.

The Thrall gave a very quiet sigh and nodded to the lion. "Yes, Reaver Lesedi." What choice did she really have? He was more than capable of catching his own meal so it was not like she could refuse to hunt for him and he would starve. He would just hurt her for it. She was not sure if he was capable of cleaning his own den, but then refusing to do that would not do him any harm and would just get her beaten. There really was no choice in this whole thing if she wanted to stay unharmed. She had to do what he wanted now, and no matter how much it bothered her, that was the way it was.

Lesedi glanced to the side, visibly pleased by her subdued reply. He felt empowered, walking around the pride with his Thrall obediently following after him. He even smiled a little until he remembered they were in a very public place. The smile didn’t wane completely and his eyes were alight with humor.

“Good girl.” He said with the same kind of patient affection one showed a particularly stupid pet. He looked ahead, pondering on the most important lessons he had to teach her. He supposed he could tell her about the pride in greater detail later when they were in his den but it made little sense to start that discussion during such a short trip.

“Don’t sleep around.” He’d suddenly remembered it so the words came out quickly and, as if he was mentioning the pleasant weather, there wasn’t a hint of discomfort in his voice. “I really don’t mind who covers you. You can take a mate amongst the Thralls for all I care. Just don’t get a big reputation or it will be more difficult to… well, just don’t.” It would be somewhat difficult to keep the Reavers off her back - literally - if she started whoring herself around the other slaves, after all.

Minipia shuddered when the male looked back at her. There was something about his pleased expression that just was not right in her mind. Yes, it was better than his anger and displeasure, but she just could not bring herself to feel reassured by it. The leopon was slightly afraid of the humor in his eyes, truthfully. Good humor was a good thing to keep him in if she did not want to get yelled at again. She did not like this whole not having a choice situation she had ended up in. It really made her miss her father and how easy going he was.

The way he spoke to her when he said 'good girl' made her wince. She had been reduced to slave to... pet. And now, now she was stupid pet. She hoped he choked and died on bone at some point and she got to leave. It was such a horrible thought that it disturbed her that she had it, but it did not change the fact that she had wished it would happen. Minipia lowered her head further and tried to block out the bothersome thought. Maybe it would just go away if she ignored it.

"I do not think that will be a problem... I doubt I will want a mate here." The words lacked much in the way of feeling. Yes the idea of settling in here bothered her a lot, but she just could not bring herself to show that emotion on the outside, especially at the risk of upsetting the lion. She did not want beaten or killed over saying something that offended this lion or one of his friends. She wondered yet again what her fate was going to be here.

Lesedi wasn’t really sure what to make of his Thrall’s words so he chose to simply ignore them – he was well within his rights to do so and it was the easiest and laziest solution to most situations that involved the leopon.

As they neared the area where a group of Thralls had gathered a small number of carcasses, the tawny lion’s eyes narrowed critically as he watched the slaves go about their business. It always bothered Lesedi to see males in this subservient position as if they had little to no pride at all. If it were him, the Reaver would rather die than to be permanently put in this position.

“This antelope looks good. You can carry it back to the den.” The Reaver said assuredly, knowing no one would refute his claim to the carcass. It was big enough for the two of them and while it looked heavy, he was certain Minipia would be able to drag it back to the den without much trouble. There was absolutely no way she could fail at this task, after all and he hoped this wouldn’t be the only thing she was good for. He looked at the leopon with raised brows and his tone grew heavy with irony. “Unless, you know, you think I need something else. Maybe a rabbit...” Oh, Lesedi didn’t think he’d ever forget the day he’d come home tired and hungry only to find a measly little bunny for a meal. Had he been prone to physical punishments, Lesedi would make the leopon’s hide even more pink and blue than it already was.

“Anyway, let’s go back.” He said with a slight smirk, turning away from the Thralls he’d barely even acknowledged. Having her drag back the carcass to the den would serve two purposes: one, it would make his authority over Minipia visibly obvious to any bystanders and two, she couldn’t talk if her mouth was full… not that she seemed inclined to do so anyway.

Minipia watched the other Thralls with some admiration. She wondered how long they had survived here. And they were such good hunters too. She sighs as she looks at the creature she was to drag back to the den. Dragging would take forever. She could get it over her back to carry it she was sure. Yes it would make more of a mess on her fur, but she would just clean that off later. She was not struggling to drag that thing back to the den and have it covered in dirt. With her luck the lion would demand a clean kill or some such! She was going to hate herself for the amount of cleaning she was going to have to do to her fur later, she just knew it.

The leopon went forward and grabbed the carcass. She used a flick of her head and some deft maneuvering to get the thing up over her back and then wiggled her way under to the point where it would stay when she stood completely. When the thing was up on her back that the majority of it would not be dragging, she looked at the Reaver and started back toward him. He would have had an easier time doing this than she, but she could do this. She had to do this and she could cry over her bloodstained fur later.
