Madeline's face was stuffed into a heavy, leather bound book when she exited her dorm room, hips swaying from side to side to the sound of some invisible tune. She'd already texted Ami at least ten fun facts about the human body, and now she was decidedly bored.
Which said something, considering most of her day consisted of training field exercises and reading.
The life of a trainee was so fun.
Turning a corner, Madeline continued down the dorm hall, one hand stuffed in a jean pocket, eyes glued to the page - which didn't exactly end well for her when a wall came up instead of air, knocking Madeline, long limbs and all over and sending the book sailing through the air. <********!"
So ladylike, Madeline. So ladylike indeed.

After being awakened for the second time, it seemed as though Hazel hadn't changed much since the last time she was out and about. Still looking for something to do and being cooped up in her room was not as entertaining with Sabin yelling at her. Hazel made her way out of dorm room with a small, red pouch in hand and little bottles stuck in her untamed hair.
Suddenly a cry from down the hall grabbed her attention. A perfect moment to see something more eventful than paint drying on the walls. She clicked the pouch onto her waist before running down the hall to check up on the newly injured girl.
"Hey, are you okay?" Hazel said as she stretched out a hand to help the girl up.

( You are such an idiot. I can't believe I let you be my partner. ) Arsenios snarked as Madeline stared up at the ceiling in a daze. Yeah, she was a stupid partner sometimes but --
HEY. She gritted her teeth. I'm the only one who'd take you on, you vulgar manwhore.
Blinking when a wild splatter of orange came into her line of view, Madeline tilted her head up at Hazel, cocking a brow before allowing a s**t-eating grin to spread across her face. "I think so. I might have lost a few braincells on the way down though but - " She took Hazel's hand gratefully and pushed herself up. "That's not really anything new - oh!"
She glanced around and bounced a few paces past Hazel to pick up her discarded book, dusting it off gingerly before turning back to the strange moon trainee.
"I don't think I've ever seen you before - sup, sugar?" She grinned and stuck out a hand, wild-eyed and a bit worse for wear than she usually would like. "I'm Madeline."

After pulling the girl up, Hazel watched her intently as she cleaned off her book.
"Hm?" She looked at the offered hand, "I just got released again. I don't remember much from before they put me away." Come to think of it, Hazel really couldn't remember what happened before she woke up. "Uhhh, The name's, Jaeger. Hazel Jaeger," scratching behind her ear before returning the handshake.
Hazel examined her closely like a specimen, from head to toe.
< Don't be awkward, Hazel... > Sabin sighed.
"Whatcha readin' there?" blowing a puff of air at her bangs to reveal her doe-eyes.

"Oh." Madeline blinked at Hazel before settling her weight into one leg, hip cocked to the side and arms folding across her chest. "Me too, doll. I'm glad I'm not the only one just waking up." She smiled, her lips pulling into a lazy, cat-like grin, eyes half-lidding as Hazel introduced herself.
"Pleasure's all mine," She quipped, tossing auburn curls away from her face and leaning back against the wall. It wasn't like they were headed anywhere fast, after all. "So you're - " She glanced down at the obligatory coats they both wore, "Moon? Fun ~"
Arsenios rasped a chuckle in her head, but she overturned any opinion he had in favor of simply waiting on Hazel to speak again.
"Ah," Glancing down at the book, Madeline raised it and gave it a gentle shake, "a long and boring history of Deus and the formation of its Divisions." She grinned. "The life of a trainee is suffering and reading religiously, I guess."
She didn't know how true that first part was.

"If you say so," Hazel gave a half smile as she as she mimicked Madeline's casual posture. "Yeh, I'm a moonie." Was the girl being sarcastic? Hazel couldn't exactly tell. It probably doesn't help that Sabin was always sarcastic to her too.
Staring at the book as it was being presented, Hazel gave a yawn, "Ugh, that sounds boring!"
An awkward pause loomed over them.
Hazel's eyes darted around the plain hallways trying to think of a way to break the silence, "So, uh, you... like reading?"

Madeline smiled lazily at the girl, toying with the book in her hands for a long moment. "Yeah," She responded, grinning, "it is; but alas, I must be knowledgable in the face of my superiors." She tossed a few auburn curls over her shoulder. "Or bullshit my way through, huh."
Waiting until Hazel broke the awkward silence, Madeline blinked and lifted a shoulder in amusement. "Usually," She laughed, waggling the book at Hazel, "but sometimes I feel like I'm force feeding myself all of the textbooks I can find in Deus HQ just so I know everything."
Her lips twitched upwards. "I'd much rather be rolling around in the mud out in the training fields, to be honest." She tapped the book to her shoulder. "But who knows, maybe the long and boring history of Deus and the formation fo its Divisions will be relevant to me one day."
Pausing, Madeline glanced the girl over again before smiling, her lips pulled into a shark-like grin. "So what do you like?"

Rolling in the mud? "Holy crappers, you too?!" Hazel immediately beamed with excitement. "I love getting down and dirty. It gets so boring here. Then again, I haven't been around much, so how would I know," laughing it off. Hazel took a moment to think of what she does like. "Mmmmm... Gum!" She reached up and pulled out a stick of wrapped, un-chewed gum from her hair and offered it to Madeline, "Gum?" She gave her a wide smile and happily wagged the stick back at her.
