[22 - Dead End]

When he entered the Labyrinth, Luka found himself in a foreign world of greenery. This was not like the green areas he'd been in the past. This foliage was not kind, it was cold. Distant. Dangerous.

Liquid sunshine eyes flickering sharply, he took a quick glance behind to make sure his partner hadn't been lost. "We will win this Prajna." There was a certain smugness in his voice, hinting at a strong competitive edge in the youth. Nevertheless, his promise was already looking weak as the Satyr found himself face to face with a wall of greenery. ".... Not this way. But, we will still win." He promised, looking at Prajna.

Whatever reservations he had before about partnering with Prajna, they were gone now.

The tall walls of the maze were intimidating and haunting, to say the very least. They looked like the vine-covered arms of a luscious emerald monster, reaching for the brilliantly blue sky, terrifying but in an almost beautiful and complementary way. It would have definitely been more frightening had Luka's familiar face and confidence were not around to sooth Prajna's rising feathers.

The Star nodded in agreement with Luka's statement, but when they turned a corner, they quickly found that they had reached a dead end. Usually, Prajna would have scowled in irritation but it preferred that, at least in this situation, Luka take whatever blame could be taken rather than the Star; it wasn't going to say "left" or "right" unless it was absolutely certain it was going to be a successful route. Plus there was this odd feeling of something... in Prajna's chest. The looming walls, the cramped quarters, perhaps, contributed to the feeling but suddenly, the redhead found itself blurting out, "It's fine, Luka. I trust you."

No quickly had Prajna said that did it sew its lips tightly shut and then redden. What was that?!?!!

[7 - Random Encounter]

[Dead End: 1
Random Encounter: 1]

The Satyr's head snapped back to stare at the Fallen Star in mild confusion upon hearing Prajna's words. I trust you? Was Prajna really one to say that? The redhead he had interacted in the past was never that genuine. Never that... fragile. For once, Luka was saw Prajna as less of a trickster and maybe someone who was slightly scared.

"Don't worry Prajna." The Satyr reassured. In hopes of assuaging the Star's unease, Luka held out his palm forward and summoned a small ball of light. It was small, but the light it emitted was more than enough to make the maze seem slightly less menacing and more so just a wall of normal greenery. Taking Prajna's hand with is own free one, the Satyr turned around to lead him out of the dead end and forward to wherever the path led them.

As Luka led the anxious pair down another spooky pathway, the silky haired Satyr seemed capable of regaining a confident air around itself as well as a determined composure, two things Prajna was slowly feeling drained from its usually fiery being. Something about the soft sounds of rustling leaves and the abnormal lack of footsteps seemed to be spooking Prajna's thoughts; the Star found itself unable to focus on anything but the seemingly endless greenery around them.

At that precise moment of escalating disorientation, Prajna suddenly caught sight of Luka creating a curious orb of light and send it a little ahead of the duo to cask its warm glow on the extended path. The tender lighting seemed to calm Prajna's nerves but in a kind of unexpected way; it was similar to when you are offered a meal from a stranger, with the meal unexpectedly tasting like one of your mother's homemade recipes. The glow was nostalgic, reminding Prajna of the last few encounters with Luka, and yet, somehow, a bit forewarning. The redhead thought about asking its companion to just forgo the summoned lantern when Luka took Prajna's cold hand and pulled it down the next path.

The abrupt warmth coming into contact with the Star's own icy skin was shocking at first, but quickly melted into the much needed comfort Prajna had been hoping for. That's when something caught Prajna's eye. Something was in the distance, something just outside the floating ball of light's reach...

"What's that?" Prajna's voice came out a little shakier than hoped but that was beside the point.

You come across a rather large glass and wooden container. Inside is an exotically dressed mechanical man with what looks to be a crystal ball. Your presence seems to awaken him from his slumber, his eyes opening while the rest of him jerks robotically to life. The lights in the box flicker and spark oddly as the ball glows and the fortune-teller points you in a direction. Do you take his advice or go the opposite way?

[1 - Dead End ]

[Dead End: 2
Random Encounter: 1]

Giving Prajna's hand a light squeeze of reassurancee, the Satyr approached the foreign object. A box, or display rather, with a mechanical man. Luka watched cautiously as the puppet's gears gave a mechanical whirrring noise.

Click. Click. Click. Whuuurrrr.

The puppet made a jerky movement before opening his eyes at the two Freis. And without even murmuring a word, he raised his hand to point it in a specific direction.

Was it a clue? Or was it a trap? The Frei found himself brimming with curiosity towards the strange little mechanical person in the box. And yet, there was also a need for caution. The fortune teller's sudden appearance in the maze was clearly just a hint of things to come.

"Let's go this way," Luka said, motioning in the same direction the man had pointed them to. They were in a maze, they had nothing to lose and everything to gain. They'd already hit a dead end and now this strange mechanical puppet man. "I wonder where he will lead us..." He murmured, before floating deeper into the awaiting greenery.

Surely, that mechanical man wouldn't be tricking them would he?

Instinct suddenly taking over, Prajna weakly jerked its arm back as Luka decided to take the suspicious robot's suggested route. The man's glossed over gaze and lingering jaw, hanging as if laughing at something the two Freis were unable to see, made the redhead too wary, "Luka is sure? Prajna does not trust the man in the glass square..."

But the Satyr was already heading off, and not wanting to be left behind, Prajna caught up quickly. That's when a monstrous wall of summertime vines and flowers cut the duo off and Prajna swore it could hear the man cackling from behind them, somewhere in the cold distance. The Star seemed to shorten its neck and ruffle its coal-colored feathers as it inched, quite shamelessly, up to Luka and said in a low hiss, "Luka! See? We should not have trusted the man in box!"

[10 - Dead End ]

[Dead End: 3
Random Encounter: 1]

"Fine! I'm sorry. But he was a fortune teller! Those people are supposed to know things." Huffing a bit, the Satyr turned quickly on his ribbon and headed in the opposite direction. "We will go in the direction you want Prajna." His tone was slightly mocking, daring for the Frei to say otherwise.

However, when he found himself face to face with another wall of green, Luka turned towards the Fallen Star with a smug expression on his face. "Yes, because your direction was so correct." Running his fingers along the wall of leaves, the Frei quickly pulled his hand back as the plants shivered under his touch. He hadn't been expecting them to move like that. "What way now Prajna?" The Satyr asked, wondering if maybe the Star wanted to lead.

Prajna frowned at its usually composed companion's sudden outburst and felt its own temper return. Perhaps a little too roughly, as Luka charged in the opposite direction, the Star pulled its arm out of the Satyr's grasp, rubbing its wrist tenderly and almost defensively perhaps as Prajna's blue eyes took Luka in a new light. He seemed so haughty and unreserved now, causing Prajna's guard to be brought back up.

The warmth from Luka's hand lingered on the Star's pale fingertips, but the small comfort seemed to instantly fade into the surrounding emerald shadows when Luka turned its amber eyes and asked a bit tersely, "What way now Prajna?"

Prajna's frown flickered for a moment and turned into a surprised gap, but the flame regained its defensive personality and scowled even harder in response, "Take next left."

And with that, Prajna took the lead and led the pair down the next narrow passageway.

[15 - Challenge ]

[Dead End: 3
Random Encounter: 1
Challenge: 1]

Arms crossed against his chest, Luka followed after Prajna. The small ball of light floating in front of Prajna like a ghostly lantern. He floated at a slower pace than Prajna, summoning a second ball of light to float of himself. The walls seemed to grow closer yet, giving the Labyrinth it's ghostly atmosphere again.

"I don't see anything yet Prajna." The Satyr commented, a light scowl on his face. He knew the Labyrinth was supposed to be all fun and games, but something was making the skin on the back of his neck crawl. There was something ahead that was making him uncomfortable. "Are you sure this is the right way?" He asked, his amber eyes squinting in an attempt to make out some short of shape in the dim lights of the cold green planet.

"Maybe we should turn back." Luka said, slowly closing the gap between himself and Prajna. Whatever was ahead, it was making his whole skin crawl. He hadn't felt like this before.

"Trust Prajna, Luka. Or find own way free." came the Star's biting reply to Luka's dwindling confidence.

Prajna was obviously bitter about being snapped at a moment ago, but a part of the Inverted Flame's curious mind was telling it that they were both acting out of the norm. Something about the maze... Prajna's cerulean eyes looked skyward for a moment, seemingly admiring the clouds above, before returning to the path ahead of them with a new glimmer of determination in its eyes. Something about this twisting garden seemed to put Prajna on a particularly narrow edge. As if something or some one was about to push the Star off of some terrible cliff into a dark and foreign sea below. That's when the ball of light guiding Prajna stopped and was suddenly bumped into by Prajna's dragging crimson ribbon.

Mimicking the orb's actions, Prajna extended a hand out in front of Luka, blocking his path and glaring into the foggy path ahead. Something definitely didn't feel right and as Luka crept closer, Prajna assumed it wasn't the only one sensing the trouble ahead.

"Luka, maybe we should back up some... ... " Prajna whispered, though its eyes never moved from the spot ahead. Something.. was definitely there.

You take another turn and immediately notice something foreboding about this passageway. Thick, white gobs and strands line the walls of the maze, covering everything in a gossamer shroud. Those with arachnophobia might start to wet their pants a little at this sight, but they might as well full on faint at the sight of what descends from above.

A tarantula the size of a Volkswagen Beetle settles into your path in glorious hairiness - legs, fangs, and many eyes included. The creature rustles its pedipalps at you but doesn't immediately strike. Instead, she seems merely wary and is watching you closely. Have you become her next meal, or will you be able to pass by and live to see another Packers victory at the Superbowl*?

Unfortunately for the Raevans though, the way they came in from seemed to had been covered by thick layers of sticky web. Surely they would be sitting ducks for the spider if they go that way and caught in the webs.

(( *point to those who get the reference ))

Whatever words were about to come out the Satyr's mouth immediately died in his throat upon seeing the large arachnid descending from a silvery thread. "Prajna, watch out for the white." It was hard resisting the urge to simply leave his partner here and just tail on out of here. "What do we do?" Luka hissed, trying to keep from drawing her attention to much. He had no doubt that they had her full attention however.

He pulled his wings close against his back. The last thing he needed was getting some part of himself getting tangled on the web and making an even larger mess of this. Dimming his light balls, he turned to Prajna.

Just what were they supposed to do?

"Want to try out flying it? Or do you think maybe your flame can kill it?" It was a bold idea, but if it worked... They wouldn't have to worry about watching their back for the spider if they made it out.

Prajna tried to lift its torn and dirtied ribbon out of small cobwebs when its cerulean eyes caught sight of the monstrous arachnid that Luka was already gaping at. For a moment, Prajna felt absolutely numb with fear. The spider's glistening eyes, though partially hidden by the shadows, Prajna was sure, were full of lust and curiosity. And somewhere in the dark maze, the Star was certain it heard the soft but defined sound of two fangs clinking together in temptation. But after Prajna's eyes grew more and more adjusted to the outline of the mythical spider's tremendous body, something about the tarantula made Prajna want to know more about it.

Luka's concerns broke through the Star's inquisitive thoughts though.

"Want to try out flying it? Or do you think maybe your flame can kill it?" came the hushed probings of a terrified friend. Prajna turned to see Luka's wings pulled close and the Satyr particularly introverted, trying to avoid touching pretty much anything, though Prajna could clearly understand why.

The redhead let out a small sigh and was about to say that it didn't think its flames could be projected like that when the Star gazed around the spread out cobwebs, following the trails of silvery white goo from one wall to another, weaving intricately into their current death trap when Prajna noticed something. Prajna's cerulean eyes turned back down to look at its fingertips and after rubbing them gently together, as if to examine the texture of its own hand, the androgynous soul turned back to its companion and pushed him behind itself, "Watch self, Luka. Prajna will try a new trick."

With those sudden words of confidence, Prajna mumbled a soft apology to the magnificent creature as it snapped its fingers hard, seemingly activating its ominous blue flames and rested its entire palm onto the surface of a nearby cobweb. The silvery strands caught fire quickly, spreading across the other tendrils of goo with little additional effort on Prajna's part. As the Star watched, it only hoped that if the flames reached the spider, it would not stick around to be too drained of its warmth and feeling and that it would flee. A small part of Prajna hated to do anything to any kind of animal, even one as terrible as this, but an animal was still an animal... Suddenly, one of the silk threads, still dangling fresh from the tarantula's abdomen, caught ablaze.
