Though she was still a little unsure, Zurine lifted her head, straightened her slender shoulders, and forged ahead, proud and regal. If she couldn't feel sure, she would at least pretend to be certain until it eased up. "I like mazes in books," she announced as she looked around, surveying their surroundings. They were bewildering, nothing but green leafiness, and the humidity was heavy beneath the screen of mist above the hedges, holding in the heat. She wrinkled her nose a little. "But this is different from the books..."
Passing up a couple of turns while she pondered the best idea for finding the exit, Zurine turned to face Delia. "If we work our way from one side to the other, I guess we'll have to eventually work it out, right?" She was floating backward, so she didn't notice as she approached a neatly-trimmed hedge at the end of the row -- well, at least until she felt greenery scrunch against her wings. Her nose wrinkled. "Maybe you should choose the first turn," Zurine sighed.

She had slowed a bit as she'd entered the maze, mostly to allow Zurine to catch up, but also to enjoy the serene atmosphere of the maze. With the incredible warmth enveloped within these leafy green walls, Cordelia almost just wanted to forget about moving forward and just lay down to nest and bask in the loveliness of the rest of the day. Luckily though the other girl's voice broke through the snake's veil of tranquility, snapping her back to reality. "This is my first time being in a real maze. I've only heard of them in books as well, though I don't see anything being particularly different as you put it."
Cordelia shrugged, "I guess." When the girls had hit a dead end, the icy Frei most literally, the basilisk looked about for a path to go down. Floating back a ways, Delia found the last turn they'd passed up. Pointing into the archway, "How about we try this way? Couldn't hurt right?"

"This way works for me, too," Zurine agreed, trying to be companionable. The archway looked as good to her as any. "It's very pretty in here, though..." The heat was making her a little dizzy despite herself. Beads of faint perspiration shone on her pale skin despite her being covered up. "Maybe we'll find something pretty this way. Water, hopefully..." She sighed, chewing her lower lip a little bit. Far ahead, she thought she could see the haze of green leaves again. Maybe there would be a turn there? But really, she suspected another dead end...

"Ugh seriously?!" Another dead end. Maybe Zurine was right in how this maze seemed different from those out of the books. In those the mazes were magical and full of beauty and wonder. Even though she greatly enjoyed the temperature and the lush greenery, Cordelia was quickly starting to think this place was rather dull and boring as well. Honestly that nap was sounding better and better by the minute.
Turning back around and trying another way, Delia made a face when the ice Raevan declared the wish for water. Quietly and mostly to herself, "Let's hope not..." It took a moment or two for the snake to rethink the remark and finally look over to Zurine. She wasn't looking too well right then. She kinda looked like she was going to be sick.
Stopping in concern and facing the girl completely, "Hey Zurine, are you okay? You don't look so well."

"I'm all right," Zurine said, though her voice was a little faint. She took off her sunglasses, closing her eyes and rubbing one pale hand across her eyes. "Let's just keep going! We've got to make headway somehow," she breathed, squaring her shoulders as she put on the sunglasses again, turning around resolutely. The next route almost had to be something worthwhile, right?
A couple of turns later saw them approaching another dead end, despite their best effort. "Cordeliaaa, are we doing this wrong?" Her voice was a little desperate this time.

"What! Ughhh!" Cordelia groaned most audibly and hung her head. This maze was not turning out to be fun at all. It was actually beginning to be down right infuriating. It seemed like no matter which direction they took it would no doubt lead to a dead end. Honestly, was the maze mocking them or something?
Stealing a side glance at Zurine, the snake couldn't help but feel a bit more concerned than she'd already been for the snowy girl. Zurine was looking a bit frantic now, like she was trapped. Then again Delia was starting to feel the same way, predators didn't like to be trapped after all. Straightening up and sighing, the smokey Frei pulled her slender digits through her silky black hair. "I don't know Zurine. This maze...it makes no sense. I don't even think we can go back to the entrance if we wanted to now." She sighed again as she looked about, trying to back track their path, but finding it useless. "Guess all we can do is keep trying to find the exit. Come on..." Delia gestured forward, but her voice held no gusto to it at all. She wanted to get out of this maze asap.

Despite her mounting distress, Zurine nodded tightly. "It would be a lot easier to continue on with finding the end of the maze if we could get anywhere at all...!" Her usually-nonexistent temper was flaring just a little, making it a little difficult to continue on. Part of her wanted to just butt her way through the oppressive hedges, or to fight her way through the thick fog. But she didn't have enough energy to do that right now, and in the interest of conserving herself as much as she could, she turned around and moved on, her fine jaw set.
But when, two minutes later, they crossed paths with yet another dead end, the sound that escaped Zurine was not entirely human.
"I wonder if there even is an exit," she sighed, slumping against the leafy wall a little.

When the girls had yet again hit another dead end, Cordelia finally had it. Hissing harshly, most likely cursing in parseltongue, the basilisk flung her arms up in frustration. "That's it! We are getting out of here now one way or another!"
As quick as a cobra strikes, Delia began clawing at the closest part of the maze's wall, desperate to leave this poor excuse for entertainment behind them. Yet it seemed no matter how long or how quick the girl hacked at the hedge it didn't budge. If anything it felt like every time the Frei cut some of the shrub away, more took its place.
"UGH!" Seriously irritated now, Cordelia forced herself up further than she was use to floating. It wasn't easy since she didn't have wings like Zurine to propel herself further up, but the girl could almost feel the tops of the wall with her outstretched hands. Yet just as her fingers were grazing the edge of the top, the wall doubled in size right before her eyes. Stunned, Cordelia slowly floated down to her regular height and looked up in defeat as the maze also returned to normal. It was definitely mocking them.
“I guess we can't do it that way either..." Delia mumbled miserably as she folded her arms over her chest.

Shivering a little as Zurine watched Cordelia lose it all over the maze wall, she chewed her lower lip, shaking her head as she crossed her arms too, looking distinctly unhappy despite her shades. "Looks like all we can do is keep trying," she observed, once the other girl had exhausted her efforts. She definitely wouldn't have had the energy to do anything like that, and her own efforts would have yielded nothing different, she was sure.
"Let's go back. I saw one more turn," she said hopefully, her wings fanning slowly.

"Okay..." Swaying a bit in defeat, Cordelia followed the owl girl with little to no enthusiasm in her smokey voice. From now on she was going to sign up for Lab stuff herself or at least have Ebby ask her before putting her name down for anything. Seriously, this was just the pits.
When they reached the end of a path that for once held a choice, Cordelia's spirits lifted a little at the sight. Still she was a bit hesitant in moving forward. What if their choice was wrong again and they hit another dead end? Honestly she didn't think she could take much more of this frustration. Yet by the looks of Zurine, the ice Raevan wouldn't be able to take much more either way.
"Mmm...right?" she asked the other girl.

"Right will do," Zurine agreed, floating ahead. At least the sight of something other than a dead-end was exciting, a little invigorating. She hummed a little bit. "Even if it's another dead end, at least we have another direction to turn, right?" She tried to perk herself up, even managing a little smile for Cordelia as they floated ahead. "Did you sign up for this... yourself? Or did your guardian?" She was getting a little bit of a second wind, despite feeling like she was melting all over.

It seemed right turned out to be wrong as the girls hit yet another dead end. Would this misery never end? Dejected and on auto-pilot, Cordelia turned around and went back towards the junction they'd just come from, hopefully the maze wouldn't be mean and decide to take that other path away from them. Worse she hoped it didn't turn out to be a dead end either.
"Mmm?" Cordelia lifted her head enough out of her defeat to look at the other. Once she'd finally registered the questions being asked, the snake straightened up, thankful for the distraction. "Oh yeah, my woman Ebony did. Normally I'm okay with most of her decisions, but this time..." The girl sighed and shook her head, her long loose hair swaying a bit with the movement. Delia then shrugged, "Well I guess she can't help it if she didn't know. But I tell you if we ever get out of here, I'm having a good long talk with the Doctor about this." The thought of Kyou on his hands and knees begging for forgiveness from the basilisk was sort of funny. Honestly she didn't have it out for the demonic scientist, the image was just really amusing to her then.
"What about you? Same?" she smiled cheerily enough now at Zurine, their current problem escaping her mind temporarily.

Letting the right dead end go unremarked-upon, Zurine sighed and then nodded. At this point, she too felt like fussing at somebody, and if Kyou was the one at fault for this misery, she'd have a go just like anyone else. And with pleasure, no less. "Mmhm. Phiel must have signed me up because I definitely didn't," she sighed. "I like mazes in books, but I don't like being in one. Especially not since it's so hot." She shook her head, exhaling deeply and wriggling her fingers as they drifted toward the next dead end, surprising no one.

Cordelia wanted to cry now. How the hell were they suppose to make it through this maze if the maze wouldn't let them progress? Guess there was no other choice but to go back to the junction. Would they be able to take the way they came and it would lead to something new? She couldn't really be sure, but was willing to try anything by now.
At the mention of the temperature, Cordelia raised a brow curiously. Was it okay to ask? Well they didn't have anything else to do but get to know one another now right? Tucking a loose strand behind an ear most delicately, "It's actually not that bad to me, but everyone says I run a bit on the cool side." The snake chuckled and continued. "Um, I'm sorry if this is rude, but...well I noticed you've been looking sort of ill since we came in here. Are you perhaps made from something cold?" The girl blushed a little and began waving her hands in front of herself apologetically, "I'm sorry I'm sorry! It's just everything about you looks so cold." Gray eyes widened even more at her little stupid outburst and she clapped her hands over her mouth to keep from blurting anything else out.
