Axel had left the party to enter the maze with Cruz who had signed up with her. She had waited patiently for him at the entrance and then gone in to be met with a t-junction as their first trial. Glancing left and right, Axel pursed her lips. "Which way should we go?" She directed the question to Cruz glancing at him in the same process. It was the first time she had been left completely alone with a raevan, and Axel felt the need to stick close to him and not lose him. This would be good practice for when she was on her own after all, if she lost Cruz in a maze how was she not going to lose her own Raevan out in the street.

Cruz glanced around the area, following behind Axel. The light mist in the area made the temperature a bit lower inside of the maze than out at the party area and he hovered closer to his companion because of it. The desire to take her hand was present, as he would with Anita, but her question distracted him in the mean time and he stared at the t-junction they were presented with. With a grumble, Cruz pointed to the right before looking back at her to see if she approved of his decision. "This way?" he didn't know if there was any trick to mazes or how they really worked but he wasn't about to disappoint the lovely lady when she asked for his input.

Plants and life become reminiscent of a carnival fun house in this passageway. Mirrors line all sides here, including the floor! However, you'll come to notice that while these mirrors start off as normal mirrors, the nearer to the end of this hallway you get, the more warped and twisted the reflections get...and we don't mean in the normal fun house sort of way either.

Axel nodded. “Right sounds good.” She thought the maze would only be full of greenery and maybe some flowers, so obviously when Axel was faced with a row of mirrors she stopped and starred. Her brows furrowed slightly as her eyes travelled down the path, what in the world? “That’s odd, didn’t know there mirrors in a maze.” passing a hand through her hair, Axel made her way through the path, glancing down as she stepped onto the first mirror to make sure she didn’t see any cracks. Cruz was floating so no worries of falling into who know what or where and no dangerous shards of glass.
Seeing as the mirrors weren’t cracking and seemed solid enough to walk normally, Axel decided to glance around. At first, they seemed like normal mirrors, her images was slightly distorted in funny ways, she even stopped to make funny faces into a few. Though, as she got closer to the end of the path things got real weird. Weird in the sense she was seeing herself in places and things that were not normal. One of the mirrors showed Axel sitting down in an alleyway in the cold of winter, she looked like she hadn’t washed in ages, and her clothing... Axel made a face, and turned to see how cruz was doing. “I don’t think we should be lingering here very long.”
The very last mirror had Axel stop and her breath catch in her throat, she leaned in until her hands were on the glass as if she wanted a better view. The mirror showed a the inside of a magnificent cathedral that was beautifully, and tastefully Axel might add, decorated. The bride was walking down the aisle, her back to Axel, the grooms was was obscured by a mask. When the groom removed the bride's veil Axel’s inside clenched. She was staring at herself about to get married, but this wasn’t a good dream, the image turned into a nightmare. The groom was suddenly walking away from her, leaving her at the altar alone. Axel bride turned around, shouting but everyone was just looking at her and leaving her. The mirror seemed to move closer to the bride, and the reflection was screaming hysterically “Alone! Alone! Forever alone!!”
Blinking back tears, Axel flinched away from the mirror. That was cruel, and something that she never wanted to see. “Cruz.” She managed to croak out softly, she extended her hand to him. It was stupid that just an image could show you what you were really afraid of, and right now the only other person with her right now was Cruz and she was going to stick to him like glue. “We have to go, don’t look in the last mirror.” If she could spare him whatever he would see while looking in, then she would.

As they turned the corner, Cruz's eyebrows raised. Mirrors of all shapes, sizes and contortions lined the walls of the hedge garden as well as the ground. He glanced to Axel, uncertain but with an innocent curiosity instead of apprehension. When she began walking, he floated after her, glancing into a few of the surfaces. As she made faces in some, he grinned widely into others. Some made his mouth incredibly small while in others it had overtaken his entire face. The further down they went, the more diverse the images within them became. One of them showed Cruz with a pair of legs and a fully formed body -- except they belonged to a woman. Another showed him with scales all over his body with a reptilian head. Further still there was a surface that showed a large crocodile with its mouth wide open in what could only be assumed as a growl, a shred of mistletoe delicately placed on top of its tongue.
He rumbled quietly to himself, turning to his companion when she suggested they not linger and he nodded and hovered closer. He continued for a moment after Axel paused at the last mirror before turning to face her, brows knit in confusion. "Axel," the frei grumbled but stayed in place. Seconds were ticking by and he mumbled "Lingering" just as she flinched away from the mirror, causing his wings and rune to flare and the raevan to raise up a few inches higher off the ground. His eyes were wide and teeth set in an unsure frown.
She called his name and he could hear the choked back sadness. Her hand outstretched to him for the first time and he relaxed, lowering himself and offering the shaken woman a sympathetic smile before taking her hand in his and holding it close to his chest. "Is fine, Axel," Cruz tried to assure her, turning them back on the proper path. As per her warning, he diverted his gaze from the final mirror until their backs were to it and they were able to press on. Hope this way does not make Axel sad...

"Thanks." She gave his hand a gentle squeeze and offered him a smile, as they were met with another t-junction. "How about we go left this time?" She turned left this time, making sure to keep her pace to his. Axel had no idea how fast a raevan could float and she didn't want to be pulling him along either.

Returning her smile and the squeeze of her hand, Cruz let out a gentle purring rumble from his throat. He grinned subtly at her question and nodded, "Yes," following after her. He could only imagine what other strange things would beset them in this maze. It certainly wasn't as simple as originally described.

A sudden chuckle escaped Axel as she stared at the wall of green in front of her, she ran her hand through her hair and turned to Cruz. "Maybe I should let you pick when to turn because looks like we've hit the wall. Guess were going right." She turned and headed in the opposite direction.

Another low and throaty chuckle left the Raevan. He gave Axel's hand another reassuring squeeze before they turned in the opposite direction. The maze knew how to keep them on their toes, so to speak.

Everything is topsy turvy now that you've hit this enchantment! Although initially invisible, the effects of this magical spell certainly are not - the sky is now the floor and the floor is now the ceiling and you're walking on it! This is enough to make anyone dizzy, but don't worry, it should wear off soon enough.

It was like being hit by a heat wave, one second the world was normal and in a blink the world was upside down. Axel shook her head once, twice, three times to try and correct the world. It was no use, this was another one of those wondrous random moments in the maze, and Axel was starting to sorely reconsidering writing her name down for the maze. This was probably the last time she was planning on entering any maze, magical or not, because this was certainly the magical kind! Axel closed ehr eyes tightly, this was too weird.
“Cruz.” At least she hadn’t let go of his hand. “I’m going to need you to guide me because if I open my eyes I’m going to feel like I’m falling.” Quite honestly she didn’t want to move, but hopefully if Cruz tugged her along she’d be able to move. If he couldn’t move, they were going to... She didn’t even know. Axel was going to be having a very long and serious conversation about whomever own the maze, and she could only image what the others were going through! There had been a few names above her own and then there were those who had signed up after her. It made her wonder how they were doing.

Cruz paused just as his companion had, emerald eyes wandering the edges of their upside down path. The longer he stared, the more his brow curved with one raised and the other set down. An awkward, ambivalent grin still hung to his cheeks. He wasn't sure what to think of this at all. At hearing his name, he turned his attentions to Axel and moved her hand closer to his chest comfortingly. "Yes," he agreed to her request, swapping the hand that held hers so he could reach over her shoulders and hold on to her, "Is alright."
He lead her slowly, looking down at the "floor" that was actually the sky with a pleading look not to suck them both up into the clouds. Cruz watched Axel's steps, glancing up occasionally to make sure he wasn't leading her into something else strange, and each time she stepped there was no sound as if she were truly walking on nothing but her feet rested solidly. "Almost," he murmured quietly, his mouth close enough to Axel's ear that she could hear him easily. Below, the hedge began to close back in around the sky as well as open up upon the "ceiling", branches interconnecting to form a safety net below and dispersing above. It wasn't long before things were right side up again and Cruz gave the woman's shoulder an affectionate squeeze. "Is done."

There was no words to describe how thankful she was to have Cruz around, “Thanks.” Axel let go of Cruz hand to shake herself a bit, she glanced back and found the path was quite normal again. She made a face and turned to gently grab onto Cruz’s hand. “Looks like you’re not the only magical thing here. I think this place is alive or something.” As they moved again, they came upon another t-junction. It was hard for Axel not to look disappointed. “Alright well. Left or right?”
