Tuile yawned and stretched! She was happy to be alive!
The sun was up! The sky was clear! Her bed was nice and fluffy and cozy and her human had fresh food waiting for her!
Her whiskers gave a twitch. Her human?!
Wait! That's right! She was adopted by a Human last night! And...! Tuile blinked as she noticed a pair of angry golden-brown eyes hovering near to her bed and she giggled sheepishly. "Heh... Sorry Mocha! Bed's yours now!" she mewed happily and darted off towards the back door of the home.
Once around the corner of the hallway, she let out a sigh of relief for not being mauled by the resident Neko she now had the pleasure of sharing a home with. Mocha wasn't exactly thrilled to be sharing her things with Tuile since her arrival the night before. Tuile didn't blame her though! Growing up with all this nice stuff...? Who would want to share it?!
Tuile made a silent pass through the kitchen and out the kitty door in the back to the outside world that waited beyond. Her old home! Still always a joy to romp about in!
In one swift bound, Tuile cleared the fence and landed upon the sidewalk beyond, beginning her daily trek about the city. She cut a corner towards the park, thinking a swift climb through the trees in the nearby woods would be a pleasant start to her day! As she journied, she idly wondered what all she would see or who she would meet today?

Herenya took one careful step after another, each one taking her further from home and further into the interesting- albeit uncomfortable- world she was now exploring. Her ears swivelled none-stop, straining to catch every small sound to paint a picture of the world she wasn't directly seeing. The calls of birds, humans and other maneki neko created a backdrop of chaotic noise that made it hard to tell exactly what was happening. She was most interested in meeting more of her kind. Staying at home was nice enough, for a while, but it did get... well, boring. The human wasn't always around to entertain her, even if she wanted him to- which, half the time, she didn't. So she was following vague sounds and a curiosity itch, and letting it take her to... To...
Huh. Some sort of... Public grounds? A park? Hm. She blinked at the sight which had opened before her as she'd turned the corner; grass, and trees, and the hint of more. A large place. Surely, an interesting one as well? There was only one way to find out. Herenya quickened her pace, ignoring her complaining legs, and made for the park ahead of her.

Tuile trotted gaily towards the park. She hummed a spritely tune as she pranced, making careful mind to look both ways and crossing the street at just the right time to avoid cars nearing her at all.
She grinned to herself for another crossing well down and turned upon the sidewalk. But it was here that she stopped. At the corner stood a rather skittish and new looking individual! Tuile had spent many days just sitting in the trees of the park and watching all the Nekos that would pass by her perch. She never forgot a face or a pelt... And this one was definitely new! Her ears and tail didn't even look like the others... this made this new Neko rather unique!
She blinked as the new Neko turned the corner. Heading towards the definite view of the park and Tuile smiled softly before pressing her paws forward to follow. Tuile generally didn't approach the other Nekos about town unless it was absolutely necessary, but this one seemed as though she were a special newcomer. New to the world of the outdoors.
Tuile had seen many of the type before. The way they cautiously padded about, sometimes shaking their paws in confusion if a leaf, twig, or a little dirt got stuck on them. Every sound made them twitch or jump a little. And lastly, the eyes, nose and ears were on alert overkill! Many of these symptoms seemed to flit about this pretty Neko.
She trotted up happily - clearly at peace and in love with her freedom - and purred faintly.
"Hello!" Tuile slowed her trot to a walk beside her. Her expression happy and welcoming. "New around here?" she asked, asking the obvious, but she didn't want to make her feel bad for looking so obvious.

The light female hadn't caught Herenya unaware of her presence- her caution and her determination to be as aware of her surroundings as possible made that tricky. However, the fact that she chose to approach, and even address, her did catch Herenya by surprise; and her furred ears tilted backwards as an involuntary display of her emotion. When she spoke, however, it was calm.
"Yes." Then she thought for a moment, and realised that perhaps more than a single word was required in response. She was new to communicating with her own kind; and new to being in a situation with one whom she would have to consider equal. This was, perhaps, going to be as much- or even more- of a trial than simply venturing out was.
"I wished to be outside. I was bored."

Tuile purred with kindness and a warm smile. "Oh!" she started with a chipper flick of her tail. "Well you've come to the best place to kick your boredom! There's lots of stuff you can do at a park!"
She looked over the other Neko and smiled softly. This one definitely looked exotic and terrified, though she's hiding the latter decently well. She quickly settled upon her haunches and wrapped her tail about her paws.
She found herself briefly falling back into her memories. To her first journey into the park. Granted it was a rough time for her, but she remembered her first time at the park being stressful and terrifying. There was so much to see and do, she quickly got lost and scared, unsure of where she was, or even who she was. Her outward demeanor visibly softened and she drifted her gaze back towards the other female.
With a much calmer tone than her usual perky pitches, "It's a bit much to take in all by yourself if this is your first time." she purred calmly and twitched the tip of her tail happily. "I can show you around if you want."
She smiled warmly, a small fleck of tooth peeking over her lip in the process. "The names Tuile by the way..."

Herenya blinked slowly in surprise at the other female's offer to 'show her around'- but, she reasoned with herself, I did come out here to meet my own kind, did I not? And having the thoughts of another would be a good way to help her get to know the lighter female. She wasn't sure how else to do it- she hadn't really realised the disadvantage her situation placed her in, until now. She didn't know how to communicate with another of her kind- she was inclined to doubt that they would want what her human wanted, which was someone to quietly listen about his day and lie in his lap, and share physical affection with.
...Well, maybe they would want the last one. But probably not? At least, not before they even knew each other? Herenya blinked again, having thoroughly confused herself; and shook her head. Focus on the present.
"Thank you," she said softly in response to the rather friendly Maneki Neko's offer. "I would appreciate that. And my name is Herenya. It is a pleasure to meet you, Tuile." That seemed proper, to her- but then it occurred to her that what was "proper" to her human, and in those books he read to her, may not be "proper" amongst her own kind. Well, I cannot learn without making mistakes. When that happens I will just have to deal with it.

Tuile smiled brightly and flicked the end of her tail with joy as the other accepted her offer! Oh happy day! A new friend!
With a faint trill of glee, Tuile blinked at the other. "Herenya, huh?" she asked, looking her over once more. A rather strange and exotic name to go with a strange and exotic looking Maneki. This made her smile even more.
"It's a very beautiful name!" she purred then stood with a hunched-back stretch. "Well, follow me then, Herenya!" she mewed. "If you have any questions, please do not be afraid to ask!"
She began a lively trot into the park, heading for some trees that were a little off the generic path, but still heading into the main bulk of the park itself. She wanted to start this newly venturing Neko out small, and knew just the place to take her first.
She paused a few feet into the popular dwelling to turn and make sure she was being followed.

"Very well", Herenya said in response to Tuile's words. In truth, she was not sure what sort of questions she would need to ask- other than that one, although the very idea of asking what she was supposed to be asking about was ridiculous enough for her to give her head a little shake as she started walking after her... guide? Companion? She settled on guide, it seeming the most appropriate. She wondered where she was being led.
She looked around; her ears still trying to drink in every sound, eyes trying to catch every movement, nose quivering with all that was new- Tuile's scent among the chaos of scents to reach her. For a moment, Herenya- usually unconcerned about being solitary, beyond what she had taken to be simple curiosity- was glad she had a guide. There was so much out here, and although it wasn't in Herenya's nature to be overwhelmed with concern, worry or fear, for a moment she felt the danger of being overwhelmed with new sensory information. Others came out here often- some even lived out here, she understood- so clearly it must be safe- but they knew how to react to the things around them.
Herenya did not, and she was very aware of it.

Tuile purred and walked at a leisurely pace towards the pond. Today was a Sunday, so she knew that her fisherman friend would be relaxing and catching some fish today... What a better way to introduce a new Neko to the outside world of the park than to introduce her to a single caring individual who sometimes treated them with fish for the company!
They wouldn't stay long, however, just long enough to relax the new female a bit. Tuile could smell the small twinge of panic every newly wandering Neko carried. It was natural, but Tuile wanted to give her a good memory to start with.
She led Herenya through the first wave of trees, stopping periodically to make sure she was still following her.
"Almost to our first stop!" she seemed to purr then rounded the bend in the path that exposed the pond. Down the ways a bit was the fisherman sitting in a fold out chair near the shore, his posture laid back and relaxed, almost napping even, and his line cast a bit of a ways into the pond.
Tuile purred and looked to Herenya to judge her response of the view.

Herenya curled her tail up as she followed Tuile; they were going a little further than she expected, and she took in the different sights, sounds and sensations. She focused on the fallen leaves under the trees she was led through; surprisingly soft under her paws. Further they walked, until they came around some trees, over a small rise, and looked down over a pond.
She had never seen anything like it; and her eyes widened in a somewhat uncharacteristic display of surprise. The large expanse of water seemed, to her inexperience of such places, like an ocean compared to the pond in her human's garden; the sandy banks gave way to grass and patches of wildflowers. It was as lovely as the garden she was used to- perhaps, in it's natural and untamed state, more so. She didn't realise that a tiny, unbidden purr escaped her as she drank in the view.
The only thing which, in her opinion, marred it was the human sat near the water. She had come out- in part- because she was tired of the affection and attentions of her own human; and now here was another. Perhaps the fact that they were strangers would make him more bearable, but Herenya wasn't looking forward to the idea of potentially being crooned and fussed over again. Her ears tilted backwards for a moment in mild irritation and the tip of her tail gave a twitch; but then she forced herself to be outwardly calm and accepting. Tuile had taken on the role of her guide, and it would be abominably rude of her to speak such an opinion- especially unbidden.
So she said nothing, and simply appeared ready to follow Tuile further.

She noticed the slight bit of hesitation Herenya seemed to display upon setting her focus upon the human, but Tuile mistook that hesitation as concern for a strange human's interactions. So Tuile merely shrugged it off in the moment.
"Come on!" she churred gaily and bounded forth!
She quickly closed the gap between herself at the human - who had apparently fallen asleep at the pole! - and stretched herself to a stand on her hind legs. Her forepaw batting at his hand to wake him.
"Eh?" the groggy human blinked then chuckled heartily. "Oh! Hello there, my friend. Back for another Sunday feast, eh?" he laughed then turned, retrieving a plate and a knife. In his turn, he caught sight of Herenya and blink. "Well, I'll be. Yeh have yeh a little friend with you today, eh?" he smiled warmly then whispered loudly with a hand to his face teasingly. "Guess I'll have to break out the good dinner ware, huh?"
The man made no effort to pet or coddle Tuile. In fact, he made no motion to offer his hand for petting her at all! Instead, he set to work shoveling out the good bits of fresh fish for Tuile and her new friend, setting the plate down on the ground to the side a bit so as not to disturb him should he catch another.
"Have you tried fresh fish before?" she asked Herenya, tilting her head a bit. "It's rather tasty! Far better than the canned stuff some Humans will feed you."
The man chuckled and nodded in a silent agreement, seeming to return his focus back to the bobber at the end of his fishing pole.

Herenya followed Tuile down to the lake, her stride much less exuberant than her guide's. She listened to their interaction; her long, tufted ears twitching back and forth. She was relieved that the human didn't seem to want to coddle or fuss over them, so she moved a little closer and watched the human set out a plate with her steady, dark green eyes.
She found Tuile's question odd; one of her ears swung backwards and she tilted her head, very slightly, to one side in her puzzlement. "Yes, of course," she replied, her voice soft and unoffensive. "I have it often, every time my human goes to buy food or has it delivered to us." She stepped forwards to sniff at the fish on the plate before she realised that what she said may sound rude, or unappreciative. "That is... I have never had fish that had just been caught, however. I am sure it will be very nice, and I appreciate you sharing it with me." She looked from Tuile to the human, wondering if either noticed her momentary poor manners, and hoping they hadn't.

Both Tuile and the Man blinked at Herenya then burst out into a soft bit of a chuckle.
"Yeh got yerself a mighty proper gal fer a friend there, Twilly!" the man stated then slowly began reeling in his line to check on his bait.
Tuile blushed faintly at the human's pet name for her, but quickly ignored it. She giggled and flicked her tail with delight. "Go ahead and try some!" she offered gesturing towards the plate encouragingly with a paw.
"You'll need the extra boost of energy for where I'm taking you next." she beamed a delighted smile. "Oh! Which reminds me!" she shifted on her paws with eager anticipation. "Have you ever climbed a tree before? Or are you afraid of heights at all?"

Herenya wasn't sure why her two companions were amused by her words; but at least they didn't think she'd been acting in any way improperly. Mollified, she sniffed at the fish again, before taking a small mouthful and listening to Tuile. Extra boost of energy? What could she be planning?
The fish was pleasant, not as cold as the fish she was used to- since that was chilled- and had a good taste. Her human liked to experiment- she didn't like his cooked fish as well as she liked it raw, but he sometimes tried adding herbs, which was interesting. Eating fish like this though- freshly caught, on the banks of the water from which it came- was a novelty to her, and an enjoyable one at that. Herenya swallowed her mouthful and replied before taking another.
"I have climbed trees- but only a couple, in the gardens of my human's house. I haven't climbed any others." Trusting that answered both of Tuile's questions, Herenya shot her a curious glance before taking another mouthful.
