She hated waiting. Of all the things Chariklo despised (who weren't family), being forced to sit and wait was at the top of the list. And if it weren't for the fact that Ares was the one who'd told her to wait, that she was going to meet someone who could help explain things to her, Chariklo would have bugged long before now and gone to find something interesting to do.
So she waited. And hoped that whoever it was who was supposed to be here wouldn't be a complete waste of her precious time.

Unfortunately for Chariklo, Eternal Sailor Leto was notoriously late for just about everything ever. It wasn't that she didn't care, it was just that... Well, she got distracted.
When Leto got the message from Ares that they had a new recruit, she immediately cut her patrol short and meandered her way over to the nearest mirror, casually slipping through it's cool surface. Mirror-walk training was one of her absolute favorite parts of being Vice Captain, and she sure as s**t couldn't wait to get started on it with the newbie.
This was what she lived for.
This was what she was meant to do- to turn lost, confused, newborn Dark Mirror Senshi into ******** badasses.
And that was what she was going to ******** do tonight. Enough of this sulking bullshit.
She plastered her giant, s**t-eating grin upon her face, slipped out of the mirror into Mirror Space, and tapped her newest recruit on the shoulder.

With a squeak that completely belied the confidant and careless stance she'd adopted, Chariklo spun around, eyes wide. To find herself staring into the red eyes and smiling face of the woman who'd appeared out of nowhere. Well, okay, not our of nowhere, she thought, she probably did that thing with the mirrors. Which, Chariklo had to admit, was a pretty ******** sweet trick. And one she hoped to learn someday.
As her heart ceased it's hammering rate, the tall girl managed a cocky grin of her own and some of the tension visibly left her shoulders.
"And hello to you too. I guess you're the newbie wrangler?"
As she spoke, she was eyeing the new woman. And thinking on a very private level that if everyone in her new 'family' was going to be so damned hot, it was going to be really hard to concentrate on anything.

Leto couldn't help but laugh at her new-found title. "Newbie wrangler, I like it," she mused, her English drawl heavy on the word 'wrangler'.
"Th'name's Eternal Sailor Leto, Vice Captain of the Dark Mirror Court." She looked down at her fuku, then back up at the much taller girl. "Senshi of Camoflage," she added, as if the first part wasn't enough of a mouthful.
She eyed the other girl carefully, taking in the floppy mohawk, tattoos and piercings and couldn't help but smile. She reminded her an awful lot of a particular red headed Senshi of Falconry who she was pretty fond of. And it was guaranteed that Chariklo wasn't the only one that would have a hard time concentrating re: the good looks of teammates, as Leto has experienced that first hand with Al-Janah.... Not that she would ever admit in a million years that she may have been a little unprofessional when it came to his training. Ahem.
Leto spread her arms and motioned to the area around them. "Welcome to Mirrorspace and to the Dark Mirror Court. I hope you're ready for a hell of a ride!"

Dammit. She was cute and had an accent to boot. Life was really so unfair. Still, she seemed friendly enough and Chariklo took heart.
Adopting a mournful face, Chariklo decided to try a light touch of banter, hoping that she wasn't overstepping some unspoken boundary.
"Is there a shirt version of that I can use? Boss Lady or Camo Chick come immediately to mind..."
The opened arms and welcome gave her heart and at the last words spoken, she couldn't help but grin and recall how she'd challenged Ares not so very long ago in the matter of how strong she might be. Her grin widening, she took a step back and settled her hands on her hips, arms akimbo. Then, feeling as if deja vu was hitting hard, she replied.
"Try me."

There were very few things that Leto would view as overstepping bounds. Light banter? Perfectly cool. Flirting with teammates? Also acceptable. Selling you out to the enemy? That was overstepping bounds, and just downright shitty. Not that Leto had a clue in hell just yet that one of her teammates had been telling her deep dark secrets to the assholes on the side of Order.
She couldn't help but laugh again at the other girl. "You can just call me Leto, no need for all the other crap."
When Chariklo told Leto to try her, she quirked an eyebrow upwards and smirked. Well, she asked for it. With no further words, she grabbed the other girl and dove through the mirror closest to them, dragging Chariklo through it's cool surface with her.
As they were coming through the other side, Leto released Chariklo's hand and rolled skillfully on the ground as they tumbled out of the mirror. She'd let Chariklo fall out of it on her own.
When she finally got her bearings (which could be difficult when mirrorwalking the first couple of times), she would look around her to notice that they were on top of a building, surrounded by mirrors hanging in various positions.
It was here that Leto did her mirrorwalking training.
"Let the games begin," she said with a grin. "Ready to learn how to walk through mirrors, m'dear?"

"Leto it is then," Chariklo began, encouraged to see Leto smiling. Smiling was good. The taller girl was getting ready to speak again when her world turned upside down and inside out.
She had just enough experience to recognize this as the same trick Ares had done with the mirror when she'd been taken to Mirrorspace. What she didn't have the experience with yet was landing gracefully when she felt as if her brains were being scrambled. And as a result, when she came out of the mirror, she tottered a moment before landing square on her a** with a soft, "Ow!"
After a few minutes of shaking her head to clear it and muttering about crazy magic mirrors, she finally managed to get to her feet and smile wanly. THat they were on top of a building didn't phase her too much. But the different mirrors scattered about silently clued her in to the fact that her day was about to get a lot more interesting.
"Why not?" she asked in response to LEto's own question. "How hard can it be?"

Leto shrugged her shoulders slightly. "I don't think it's difficult at all," she said, her right eyebrow raised. "I'm not sure if you can do it though.... I mean, a lot of our newbies really struggle with getting the hang of it."
The sweetest smile she could muster up was plastered upon her face now. Okay, so maybe she was a little taunting in her training. That didn't mean that her methods didn't work.
"It's simple, really. You just.... Walk through it." She gave the mirror next to her a nod. Her left hand extended slightly and pressed into the surface, the glass rippling around her fingers as she did so. "Easy peasy, right?"
She was desperately trying to keep a straight face as she spoke, because typically when she did this, her trainee slammed into the solid surface the first few times. And well, she expected it to happen again and quite frankly she found it pretty amusing. Hey, a girl's gotta get her jollies somewhere.

"Simple. Right," Chariklo replied in an utterly deadpan voice. She might be new to this whole Senshi thing, but she knew low level hazing and teasing when she heard and saw it. Still, she had to learn somehow and suspected that hints would not be all that forthcoming.
Settling her gaze on the mirror closest to her, she put out her hand and gave an experimental push. An unyielding surface met her touch. So this Mirrorwalking thing clearly didn't just happen automatically. Still, it couldn't be that difficult, could it?
Backing up a few steps, the girl put her hands out in front of her and walked forward, stopping only when the mirror didn't give way under her fingers. And when that happened, she simply backed up, added a foot or two to her walking distance and increased her speed slightly. Eventually, she'd get it. But she wasn't giving herself full body bruises. That sort of thing was reserved for her board tricks or surfing weekends.

Leto watched in silence as Chariklo moved to and from the mirror in front of her. Clearly this one was much brighter than the others she had trained- y'know, not running into mirrors full force and what-not.
Finally, the next time that Chariklo pushed against the mirror's surface it rippled under her fingertips and her entire body slipped through it. Leto quickly turned and pushed her own body through, grabbing her hand the second she reached her in mirrorspace to keep her there.
"Now? Master the landing," she said with a grin. "You're going to drop from a mirror that is several feet in the air, facing down onto the roof. Don't hurt yourself," she winked as she pulled Chariklo through the mirror, releasing her hand half-way through.
"When you can walk through one and drop through another, you graduate and move on to using your Wraith," she called out to her as she sat on the ground, watching.

Oh sonuvabitch! Chariklo didn't have time to feel any pride that she'd finally gotten through the mirror before she was being pulled through another and told to fall. At least this time, Leto had given her some warning before letting go. Muttering curses the entire time, she managed a shaky landing on all fours before toppling to the side.
With a sigh and a glare born of envy for how easily Leto landed, Chariklo waited a moment before pushing herself back to her feet. Then, without waiting for a prompt, she briskly walked at one of the mirrors, determined to keep trying until she too could land as gracefully as a cat.
Grinning as the mirror rippled around her fingertips, Chariklo couldn't help but reflect that she did love a challenge.

What Chariklo didn't know was that it had taken years for Leto to get to the point that she was currently at. Two years as a Senshi, already an entire one of which was as a Dark Mirror. Leto sat and watched, knowing she would feel a threat if someone came close and being comforted by the fact that they had multiple exits if needed.
After a few tried slipping in and out of mirrors, Leto was confident in Chariklo's ability. She pushed herself to her feet and pulled her black velvet sac out from her bracer. She moved along to explain the use of mirrorwraiths, the importance of them, and stressed that she needed to keep the shards from being broken and the wraiths from being destroyed.
When she felt that everything was covered, she came to her final point - the compact communicators. "If you need help, call me; hell, call anyone. Never forget that you have that mirror at your disposal. And for the love of god, shatter it if your life is on the line. If it's broken, Ares will know it's an emergency and she'll come to your aid."

Panting slightly from the exertion, Chariklo listened carefully to every tip and explanation Leto gave. Particularly when it came to the mirrorwraiths and how vital they were. Only when it came to the compact did she grimace slightly. The small bag with her mirror shard was tucked into her uniform. But that compact short of being shoved down own ample cleavage, was not going to fit anywhere. And the last thing she wanted to deal with was the possibility of her compact breaking by accident.
"Uhh, okay, shatter it if the danger's bad, I get that. Where in hell do I carry it in this getup?" she asked, gesturing to her outfit.

"The great thing about being an alien is that your s**t just disappears," Leto said with a grin. "When you don't need it, it goes to subspace. When you do, just.... Think about it. It's how the White Mooners get their cell phones and the Negaverse their weapons."
Leto laid back onto the concrete of the roof, closing her eyes and stretching herself. "Or put it in your cleavage, whichever."
An eye opened to peek up at the other girl. "Unless you have more questions, class is dismissed," she giggled. "Just be safe when you patrol as a newbie, okay? If you're not confident in your battle skills, go out with someone- whether it's me or someone else I don't give a s**t."

Subspace? Now that was something new. She have to experiment at some point. Though, at the moment, she was quite convinced that there were now entirely too many 'spaces' that she had to deal with. Still.
Eyeing Leto as he stretched Chariklo felt laughter burble up in her throat as the brunette echoed her own thoughts. Grinning, she threw the older girl a salute that was not entirely mocking.
"You sure know how to make a girl feel special, Leto," she replied drily. "And somehow, I don't think you'll have to worry about me having confidence in my ability to fight."
Still grinning and weighing the compact in her hand, Chariklo considered the world below the rooftop they were on.
"Well, if we're done here for now, I'm gonna go see if I can't get some board time in before I try patroling. Thanks for the lesson, sexypants."
