Her hair was slightly damp, thanks to a recent shower, and pulled back in a messy bun to keep it out of her face. For once, she wasn't wearing anything fancy or what she considered typical Reaper wear. No, today she was simply in a shirt and jeans, doing the most menial tasks there possibly were. Like cleaning her small studio apartment. It kept her busy and her mind off other things.

Like what she thought of Poena Privus currently. Or the fact she highly doubted she'd be able to put as much effort into their cause again.

....just what in the hell was their cause?! It was because of this question, and the fact she really couldn't think of anyone else - or was willing to speak with anyone else for that matter - to talk with. So she'd messaged Sibelius, of all people, asking if he was available to drop by for a little bit. Or, something like that. She'd been fairly vague beyond, 'Get your butt over here now!'.

Shaden grumbled to herself, looking for any form of distraction possible. She'd already vacuumed, cleaned the dishes, was waiting on her current load of laundry to dry before folding it, which left....dusting. She could dust! Which is exactly what she started to do. Only, dusting meant using the feather duster. And feather duster meant she had to paw at it a few times leading to the puff of dust in her face that sent the Mononoke right to her rear end with a ********!" Stupid feather duster!

"Now that isn't very lady-like vocabulary," the blackheart murmured. He had simply just barged in, never one for suchc things as doors and knocking on them. He had an aloof grin on his face, amused at Shaden's secret little personality. "Well, I'm here." He gazed around her domicile before flopping down on a chair as if he had been there many times, smirking as he eyed near her bed. "Is that a red bra, I see?" His features looked suddenly wolfish, dark and feral, something amused in the coldness of his eyes. "My, I didn't realize..." he chuckled at his own joke, leaning back on the chair with his arms behind his head. "What did you need to talk about? I was a bit surprised to be called here. Figured you'd more likely want to jump Cruor than me, honestly." again, the curving, wicked grin manifesting on his jaw.

The dangerous and sneeze inducing feather duster went sailing through the air to thunk lightly against the blackheart the moment he spoke. Shaden wrinkled her nose, not bothering to stand up as she glanced towards her own bed. Oh s**t there was a bra there! Actually, she'd been looking for that one. It must have fallen out of the pile she'd had scattered along her bed. That too, however, went sailing through the air to smack against Sibelius. "Allow me to save you the trouble of staring so hard at it." She said innocently, finally getting to her feet and eying the window. Shaden was fairly sure no one would be listening from out there. Not when she rarely saw anyone to begin with.

"And pa-lease." She shot him a scowl. "If I was asking you to come for that, oh you'd know~" Her expression turned cat like as she moved to sit on her bed, legs crossed. She glanced away before speaking though. "Just what....the hell did we witness?" She murmured. "What have we agreed to be a part of?"

The amusement waned and flickered out of his eyes at her question. Oh, he knew what she meant...these kinds of questions would indeed be rampant by now, he imagined. He sighed, shutting his eyes as he twirled the bra around on his fingertip.

"Well, the latter part wasn't part of the plan." he grumbled, thinking on what to say. "The rest, well. There've been a huge scale of attacks...Majin attacking humans, witch eaters convening, you know. Fun stuff. Knights aren't doing s**t about it since they're staying passive, lapdogs of royalty. Our master simply wanted to raise fear in others about Majin, but planting the seed of doubt and fear within them. Make them more cautious, for their own good, even though...there ain't really a disease. The kids weren't going to be hurt anyways. Annoying ********> he growled, opening one eye. He noted the suspicion and skepticsm in her eyes, and his voice darkened as he sat up.

"Would you want a majin to feed off you?" he asked bluntly. "Even if you trusted them, there is no telling if they would be able to hold back and take the heart they're feeding from. Even if they're pure...that's how many witch eaters are born. Accidents, because humans become foolish and think they're safe. Runa is trying to prevent that, even if in a more negative way. I mean, you saw what the knights did, right? They wanted to be the saviors, and they brought in multiple witch eaters, even a Spiritus."

He sighed again. "I don't know why our master got so upset over that white-haired girl. I came in a little late....but she must have posed some kind of danger to her, to us. She looks out for us, and she is looking out for humans, so we don't end up as livestock to majin and spiritus. Even if her ways are suspicious or violent, what she does is for the greater good..."

Her tail twitched, ears canted back against her head, though not pinned flat. She was thinking, considering his words and what she had witnessed herself. Though Shaden did send him another dark look at mention of 'scaring' the kids. Athir had been one of those kids. "Well you did scare them." Shaden said dryly. But the rest....

She just didn't know. And it was painfully obvious, since she wasn't putting any of her typical barriers up to hide her feelings. Not when she really wanted to sort them out. Or at the very least hear anothers side of it all. See what Sib's views were.

And still...

"No. I would not." Shaden replied firmly, meeting his cold gaze without flinching. Her expression shifted, clearly showing what she thought of the knights right now. "You mean besides break down the door?" The Reaper snorted. "And what the hell is a Spiritus?" The term alone sent chills down her spine, making her hair stand up on end.

The greater good? Her head was shaking slowly. No. That didn't feel right. What they had seen....none of it had felt right. Shaden pinched the bridge of her nose, closing her eyes. "I just....gah! I don't know!" She was on her feet and pacing like a caged beast without much thought to the action. "I want to believe you. I want to believe in what we are doing...what we support is the right thing. But...I can't." It was wrenched out in a growl as the woman stopped beside her window again, leaning against the wall beside it.

"I can't...or don't...want to believe that what Runa has us do is justifiable." Her eyes closed again, shoulders slumping and Shaden looking the most vulnerable she had since before coming a Reaper. "I've lost faith....in what it means to be a Reaper." She paused, and added softly, "and in myself."

Sibelius watched her stalk across the room, silent as he listened to her. His expression serious, he finally spoke... "The right thing to do is never easy, nor is it always pleasant." He wasn't being his usual self, but more brooding, serious, dutiful. The kind of person he used to be, so long ago, except back then his smiles were genuine. "You must not doubt Runa. She and I are the same....We both recognize that some situations require the sacrifice of a few to save the many. Those who attempt to sacrifice nothing end up losing more than they ever hoped to."

He breathed out, tilting his head back to stare at the ceiling. "Ah, spiritus..." even he seemed to feel apprehensive to speak of them. "Rare type of witch eater. The strongest. Not all are with ill-intention, mind you...but the ones who are....You see, Majin, and even witch eaters, just want to exist. They want to thrive. It's natural. A spiritus who is not neutral wants to eradicate, manipulate, decimate, annihilate. Many ates."

He leveled his gaze on her again. She was struggling, struggling with herself and her ideals, the ideals of Poena Privus, everything. He had many moments like that before he came here. Too many....

"Shaden," he murmured, standing and closing the distance between them. For a moment he simply loomed over her, his thumb and forefinger gripping her chin gently. "To destroy evil means to be evil. You just hope that by committing your evils, you take more evil from the world with it. Think about it.... Witch eaters steal the hearts of humans, and thus, the human dies. We kill the witch eater and take the hearts they've stolen. We are the same as they are. We commit the same evil. In the end, it is still a life. But, this evil does not need to define you. It is a task that must be done, or our world as we know it would decay. Everything you care about would crumble to naught but ash. Over all of this, you must believe in what you do, or not do it. You may end up being the only thing that stands between the person you care about and their cruel end."

"But to sacrifice the innocent....it makes us nothing but murders." She murmured, hands balling into fists. Are Majin innocent though? It was a question that had begun to hang over her self doubt that much worse. "And how do you know when you've sacrificed too much, Sibelius? How far is too far?" God damnit why? Why couldn't she even recall what it had meant to her to become a Reaper?

Shaden did determine one thing right then and there. She did not like the sound of a Spiritus. In any way, shape or form. Witch eaters alone were bad enough. Now there was something beyond them? And worse, one had breached Poena Privus with such ease! Was it a sign of their future to come? Would they decline and fall? "I really hope we don't meet many of them." She murmured, not wishing to test her luck against a Spiritus juuuust yet!

An ear flicked his direction. She hated herself for looking so...weak in front of him! Not that this wasn't the norm. She was only a Reaper after all. But what does that mean? The feel of fingers against her chin caused her eyes to open warily. She'd know he'd moved. Heard the soft rustle of fabric and the chair moving back faintly. Even the air around her shifted, feeling heavier with Sib's presence. "So what I must be...is just another hand that Evil wields. The one that still commits dark deeds but manages to create a sense of rightness with it in the end?" An evil creature. Is that what she was? A killer? Why did I choose this path?

"Why did you become a blackheart, Sibelius?" She asked softly.

His cold eyes, dull with years of battle and bloodshed, held Shaden's gaze with an unwavering stare. Some who seek justice are truly too innocent to wield it, he thought. What he had to say next was something he wanted her to listen deeply to, so to prevent her from being distracted by anything else but himself, he pushed her backwards until her back met the wall, his hands hold each of her shoulders as he looked down upon her, practically pressing her against the wall.

"What you must be....is someone who wields evil against evil. You know how vaccinations are basically injecting some of the enemy virus so your body grows stronger and can kill it? It's the same thing. But people need them to stay healthy and alive. It's the same for us. Our task isn't a pretty one...but in order to keep those we care about safe, it must be done at all costs. You are a reaper. You help with keeping the peace, keeping people safe from attacks...You're not like a blackheart, my dear. We are the killers, wrought with dark secrets and darker blood."

He wondered if she truly understood just how stained his hands were, how many stolen hearts and majin seeds he had violently wrenched from the still living. How did they come to be witch eaters? He didn't care. It was his job to end them. And that is what he did.

"I'll tell you a story, Shaden, about the illusion of justice and peace. There are no innocent people. People are merely people. Take Ruria, for example. She's exceedingly gentle and kind, naive to a fault and awkward, and yet...She has killed a Witch Eater with another girl. That scar that goes through her chest and back is her souvenir from it. She has blood on her hands because she did what she did to survive. Knowing that, can you still call her innocent, and not evil? That is the reality of justice. It is about survival, and doing what is necessary for your kind to thrive."

He finally let her shoulders go, striding across the room and poking around at things she had on a shelf with a half-interest. "Me, huh? I wonder...." he trailed off for a moment, thinking on his words. "I'm not originally from here, you know?" when he turned back to her, he had his usual grin spread across his face. "I learned the hard way that justice is folly. I used to believe myself the very hand of justice...the townsfolk did, too. For all definitions, I was what you'd call a bonafide 'Hero'. There weren't a lot of witches where I'm from, you see...well, not like here. Then, later, after years and years of heroics, I decided i wanted to retire from heroics...I wanted a family, and I had one with ...my wife." his voice slowed in his story. It had been the first time he xplained it in ...forever. Even Ruria didn't know. "She gave birth to a little girl...my daughter. Then, one day...." he sighed, shrugging as if this was something normal but irritating. "The 'innocent people' I devoted most of my life to protecting and keeping safe decided I shouldn't be allowed to retire. That a family would make my strength wane, and distract me. They killed my wife and my daughter out of desperation for protection. So you see...." Again his grin, though his eyes were far more empty and far away than they had ever been. "Even though I thought of myself as a hand of justice, a protector, I was really cultivating a garden of evil rather than lives of good people. That is why I became a blackheart. If it's one person's ideals, it will falter. You will sacrifice too many lives. If it's through many people...for the greater good, and not just the good....then that, my dear, is a far better thing to fight for."

He turned his gaze back to her, noting whatever emotion she might have built up into it at his story, and he began to laugh. "You see? All it took was one made-up story to waver your feelings on a subject! That is why evil is necessary, Shaden. To wield it, that is."

Her breath caught and a soft gasp slipped between her lips, ears flattening against her head as she stared up at Sibelius. Something in the intensity of his dull, cold eyes drew her in and held her in place. Shaden tried to pretend her heart wasn't thumping more rapidly than she wanted.

Just what was it about this man? One minute he could be a foe to be reckened with. The next, a goofy - if wicked - man. And now, he was being serious. The kind of seriousness that someone wants you to pay attention to. So she did just that, staring into his eyes with wariness but complete attention. And it was a good thing she was too. His words painted a picture in her mind that was...well it made sense. And made the Reaper think. Think hard. She almost missed what he said last, about blackhearts. Shaden gave Sibelius an odd look, feeling her heart rate begin to slow.

He's like a walking mystery. She thought to herself, tense muscles relaxing as her mind determined she wasn't going to be attacked in some way.

Shaden winced, recalling the scar she saw on Ruria. She'd been curious about it, but hadn't wanted to ask about it. So it had been a Witch Eater? One she fought to protect herself? Surviving. Just like she herself was surviving in some way. Can I be the Reaper I am? She was beginning, even if it was a small bit of hope, that she might be able to. Even if she still wasn't sure if she trusted in their Organization any longer.

She slumped back against the wall, letting a breath out softly. Her cyan eyes followed his movements slowly. The grin that appeared along his face should have made her smile in response, but something was off in her mind. Unable to really talk just yet, Shaden merely shook her head in response. She hadn't known that. But she didn't usually pester people about who they were or what their pasts were. Something had just spurred her into asking Sibelius. She felt her heart squeeze as he spoke, unintentionally taking a few steps towards him. A...wife? Shaden felt her stomach clench, having a bad feeling she knew what he was going to say.

However the laughing and claim it was a made-up story was not something she was expecting. She blinked, frowning. It...wasn't true? No...no those emotions in his eyes... Or lack of them anyways. It was in his eyes. She didn't buy it.

"Sibelius..." Shaden didn't know what she was going to say. Nor had she even realized her feet had carried her over beside the blackheart. Biting at her lip, she placed a companionable hand against his arm. He'd shared something very personal with her - something she was almost positive about - and she appreciated him trusting her enough to do so. The urge to hug him was there, but she wasn't sure he wanted that. And words to say wouldn't come. So she just sighed, blowing out her breath loudly and bumping him with her hip. "Why don't you let me fix us some lunch, hmm? Since you were kind enough to come visit and chat."

He studied her movements, her expressions. Could smell the light manifestation of some new emotion rising in her, but couldn't put his finger on what it was. He watched her make her way towards him, a strained look on her face, and he grinned lopsidedly. "Such a gullible girl," he purred, a hint of laughter in his voice, but as she put her hand on him, he inwardly thanked her for the gesture of solace. She really was a kind girl, he thought. But, that could prove trouble for her, in the end. The kind were the ones who made such delicious prey to everyone else.

He nodded at her suggestion. "Yes, if you're going to call me over here in the dead of the day, you better supply me with a neverending banquet of food. Do you think it's easy to have such top physical strength and have an empty stomach? I might start eating things that aren't food." His eyes flashed with mischief, as he leaned back in the chair, stretching his legs out lazily and raising his arms behind his head.

An eyebrow was raised and Shaden added a little more sway into her step. "Looks can be deceiving, Sib darling." She purred right back, moving towards her kitchenette to hunt down something to eat. Which looked to be frozen pizzas. Since she could give Sibelius a whole one for himself. Her tail taunted him while she turned the oven on and pulled out the pizzas.

"My," Shaden glanced over her shoulder, eying the man. "If I didn't know any better....I'd say you were actually putting on something like a charm." She teased, walking over to her fridge. Opening it, she pulled out a pitcher of iced tea - which happened to be sitting next to a very tempting bottle of whiskey - and filled a couple of glasses.

"Top physical strength. Sounds arrogant to me." She knew it was actually true. But she liked seeing him smile. Both glasses were set at a small table before Shaden turned towards Sibelius shoved his head back. "You eat any of my furniture and I'll make you pay." She said sweetly with a feisty grin.

Sibelius stalked behind her as she trundled through her kitchen, ever-curious about everything and anything, especially for future reference when he just barged in and wanted to eat or drink something in particular. Where is the cookie cabinet, dammit!

"Oh, it's not furniture I meant. Cannibalism has always been a hobby that has begged to be attempted." he cast her a devious smirk, before rummaging through her cabinets on his own. "Booze cabinet!" he cried, flinging open one. "Dammit woman, where is the emergency PMS supply cabinet? I know you have one.... Now, relinquish the location to me or suffer my scourge!"

He scowled at her with a bratty look, keeping eye contact as he flung the booze cabinet shut. "Cookies, woman. Chocolates. Cakes. Things that would make your a** double in size just by looking at them. Where are they!"

Shaden shot him a look. "The same applies to biting my skin, thank you very much." For someone who was used to living alone and not having many people to call 'friend', she seemed rather relaxed while Sibelius just made himself right at home. Until he found the booze cabinet.

She squeaked - or squawked - at him, swiftly moving over to protect her sacred cabinet. "That is my PMS cabinet, you barbarian!" The Reaper swatted at him, crossing her arms and standing in front of the cabinet to protect her stash.

"What are you, five?" She scowled right back, lips twitching. "And what if I don't have one, huh? What are you going to do then?" Now she was grinning like the cheshire cat.

Of course she had exactly what he wanted. Chocolates kept in a small bin below her nightstand next to her bed. Cookies placed in strategic locations throughout her apartment. And a few slices of a rather delicious white cake with buttermilk chocolate frosting in her fridge. She'd been in a baking mood that day.

By her expression, she wasn't giving up their locations easily.

Sibelius glowered at her, crossing his arms over his chest like he just came out of a time-out. "Well excuuuuse me, boozer!" he cried. His nose...twitched. Ah....he could smell....something. All it took was for Shaden to turn around to tend to their pizza, and as she returned to face him, he had one of her precious cookies in his mouth, a smug look on his face. He kept her gaze, and to add insult to injury, took another extremely large bite out of it in front of her.

"I will just scent them out. One by one..until they are all....mine." he said darkly, a delighted look to his eyes. His senses were more keen than that of average humans - especially his sense of smell. Part of his magic. Sibelius failed miserably at magical magic, but when it came to physical...he was the bees knees. His keen sense of smell often aided him in many things, but sometimes....oh, it was embarrassing to smell where or who a person was recently with, or smell if someone had been or was aroused....

Shaden rolled her eyes at him, putting a hand on either side of her hips to match his glower. "Don't call me a boozer! I don't drink that much." Her nose wrinkled and she turned back to cooking the pizzas. God, she hoped her drinking wasn't considered that bad. Honestly! She didn't drink that often. And the last couple times she had....

She growled, twisting around to say something but found herself staring at Sibelius with her mouth in an "O" shape. That....he'd.... oh that b*****d!"

"So you got lucky with that one." Shaden muttered, eying the pizzas - which were finally cooking - and turning back to face her cookie monster. "Like hell you will. I'm betting you won't find them all." He probably would find all the cookies. Maybe some of the chocolates. Thankfully for her, there were no...interesting odors to pick up in her home. Though at the same time, it said she never had many visitors.

Swatting at him again, she pushed past him to walk over to the bookcase sitting against the wall. Shooting him a dirty look, Shaden moved a couple books aside and pulled out an entire bag of cookies.
