Rin decided to drag Zar off to a remote spot of the training fields where questions were far less troublesome with a lower chance for getting them killed.
Her gaze was fixed on him as she led him along but she still shielded herself with her clip board, "So, you mentioned another form, is this normal for demons?" her pen was at the ready.

Zar was astounded that they were even allowed outside, and marvelled as they left the building, looking around himself in awe. This was the human world. The real and honest to Jack human world, not the crossroads between worlds the way the haunted house seemed to be. It boggled his mind
He was so busy looking at the light, if foggy sky, he almost didn't hear her question.
"What? Oh. Well. You know all about the other form of course. Intimately." he smirked. "This is my true form though, I merely wish the other was the truest state of existence. I make a far more successful human than I do a demon."
He waved a claw. "Well. It varies, demons range through all sorts of types. Some have alternate forms, some do not. They come in all shapes and sizes, it just so happens that my form is most useful, especially if it could fool a real human."

"Look," Rin grunted as she stopped in her tracks to glare at him, "I didn't come back because I was busy and I've been sick a lot. You know some of that first hand even. Apparently."
Her frown twisted up in a bit of a scowl, "Why didn't you tell me? You could have gotten me killed," yep. That's right, play the innocent stupid weak little human. He sure fooled you clear 'till now. Never almost actually died from that, no sirree.
"I left you notes, didn't you get them?"

"How would I know you were sick?" he stated bluntly. "I assumed that something changed when you did not return. I was looking forward to you coming back." Of course he didn't go into details that he was looking forward to killing her at some point, or making a valiant attempt towards it in any event. "I didn't get your notes, the house is capricious and changeable."
"As for you being busy, I'm not always aware of what your people are up to, you scurry around doing your own thing. Usually its positive, I'm glad to see some of the undermining efforts you lot have made towards the horsemen. But lately some of the assaults have been misguided."
He folded his arms and flared his wings slightly. "Speaking of, why did you bring us all here?"

Hmmmm, she could work with this, "We haven't exactly been told anything specific from higher-ups, my best guess is to re-establish relations. Obviously we aren't very popular over there and what better way to fix that then getting to know each other better?"
"I also can't help that we are always busy. People die if we don't rush to do what we do as soon as we are called," she shrugged at him, "You clearly knew what I was before I knew what you were so you knew the circumstances yet chose to proceed. Am I really to blame for that?" she gave him a stern expectant stare.

"Ah. So a non negotiable diplomatic visit." That made some sense, he doubted many of his peers would come along for a visit of their own accord, perhaps this was the best way to demonstrate goodwill. "Well, that makes sense. Although I should say I know you rather well - if not mentally."
"I didn't say you were to be blamed for it, it was a rare chance. It helped put hunters into perspective more for me too. You are all still..very fundamentally fragile, even despite the weapons you wave around."

Rin decided for the greater good to let that fragile bullshit slide. Instead sliding out a pocket knife from her pocket, "As alive as you or me," and with a flash the pocket knife burst into a full double-edged axe of ornate description and she gently rested it along her shoulder, "This. Is Byr."
"You though, what about you? What is life like back where you come from?"

Zar peered at the axe curiously, the ornate little details and glowing runes both interesting and at the same time somehow chilling. Most of the weapons he'd seen seemed to carry that same glowing sort of motif about them and he found himself wondering if it had anything to do with how they were created.
There was a very definite tug of anxiety at the reminder that here on this island he was very vulnerable to ending up a weapon himself if anything at all of the stories perpetuated by other students were true. They said they came from students right? He could only hope that the mention of the laboratories and cylinders had nothing to do with that. He tried to unbalance his uncertainty with the idea that he was here diplomatically, you didn't murder diplomats.
"Erm. Hello Byr." He said uncertainly, unsure if you could even address a weapon by its name, if they were even truly aware in any sense.
"Life back home? Well. Its an uphill struggle. Factions pulling in all directions, horseman refugees getting in everyone's way, lies everywhere, students at my school spend all their time pulling against other students. Its all very stressful. And I find myself a trifle upset that I didn't get to say goodbye to my boilfriend, who I wasn't actually speaking to before I left."

Rin looked lost in her thoughts for a moment before chuckling, "He says hi - and that he really enjoys being spoken to."
I'm not telling him that.
She set her jaw and looked fairly deadpan as she added, "He said he liked... uh... last time, damn it Byr. Quit."
She drew a deep breath and puffed out her cheeks a bit irritably until Zar continued and Byr fell silent again, "Sounds... frustrating and complex."
I did, shush.
"Is there any downtime from such stresses?"

Zar raised a brow. They could hear the weapons. Even if no one else could. There was an odd pang of deep rooted sympathy for the creature in her mind, especially the loneliness implied by him approving of people speaking to him.
"Well its a pleasure to meet you Byr." he said carefully.
At her additional relayed comment, his eyes went wide. Oh my. "Oh. You were there. Well. Thank you. I....liked it too." It wasn't a lie.
"And yes. Its complex and highly frustrating. No one ever listens to reason either, so for all my ranting and warnings, I'm disregarded as some sort of nut. I'm always telling them how the hunters aren't the true enemy, how you all aren't so very different from us."
He shook his head. "Very rarely. Even the school events tend to be run by some very dubious individuals who are very probably on the side of the corrupt administration in the school itself."

Rin smiled a little at Byr's delight, poor guy wasn't really truly lonely but he still liked being addressed like a person. These happy vibes only doubled at the talk of... last time.

"An entrepreneur? A bit young for that?" Rin could only assume, he looked rather... older really. But he was still in school so... yeahhh...
She did look a bit scandalized though, "Murder? What the hell would that accomplish? You clearly aren't our enemies. In fact, we consider you our allies. Just... allies we have quite a lot of disagreements with," she hummed softly.
"The human world must really intrigue you then to override that sort of fear. Is this boilfriend not as intriguing and sensual as you yourself?"

At her other question, he had to laugh."What? Nuru? He's most certainly not sensual in the least, he's very instinctual. He's a Barghest and a bit of an idiot, all told. Not too bright. Rin flashed a quick little smile at him, "That's why I was so... startled really. You don't seem young. I thought you were my age, in fact. Is that normal for your kind?"
She wilted slightly at his laughter, "Why is he your boilfriend then if he's so..." she looked in thought, "... eh... slovenly?" She's totally jealous of Nuru, totally.
"What's a barghest anyway? It sounds obnoxious."
