Sasha tried to tamp down the excitement that unfurled in her gut; her first up close and personal meeting with something that wasn't trying to attack her, and he was utterly polite about the whole thing, too. It was charming - or at least as charming as a monster-thing could get, she supposed.
She had so many questions she wanted to ask, but she didn't want to alienate him completely by being too pushy. Sasha was almost feeling like her old self again - for a moment, at least - having a purpose, a task to tend to. The anger and rage was easy to set aside because of it.
"Is there anywhere in particular you'd like to see, Yǐn Cáng? This is my home. I'd suggest the old town, perhaps I could show you around there? It's.. a bit bashed up. Were you there when the phoenix slipped through our portal? We had to deal with the repercussions of that, but it's safe to walk through now, at least. We just can't go into any of the houses that haven't been cleared out."
Sasha laughed, the sound bright. Her pale eyes never left him, though. She wasn't afraid he'd try and run off - she was just really and truly fascinated.

It felt good to be out and about, out of that room even if things still felt sterile and impersonal. Now the ghoul was next to him and he lagged behind her just a little bit, eyeing her curiously now that he had a chance to see one without fighting. At least not yet. "I do not know the area, so whatever you would like?" Then he paused for a moment before changing his mind. "May I ask if there is somewhere warmer than here?" He sounded almost wistful at the idea. "I wish there were someplace warmer," Sasha gave him a sideways glance, pursing her lips just slightly at his wistful tone, "but the only time I've seen the sun on this island was shortly after we cleared the last of the larger phoenixes out." Her face tightened just slightly when she noticed that he wasn't answering her direct question. Forcing herself to cool down, Sasha made a thoughtful noise.
"I know this is probably very frightening for you, or at least.. well, kind of scary. I'm really sorry about that." Sasha smiled as she directed them towards the training grounds. At least there they would be farthest from any cold ocean breezes. Probably, anyway.
"I'm really curious about you, about your home. If I ask you a question - one that you answer - perhaps you could ask me one in return? Almost like.. a game."
Or something.

No where warmer then. It was cool, but bearable. Really, he should not have been asking just for comfort. But it was starting to be slightly draining, even though he was out for a walk he did not feel quite so energetic as he normally did. It was...peculiar. Maybe heat would make it better, but maybe not. "Larger...phoenixes?" As in...multiple? Frightening. Scary. Yes, those words could certainly apply. Being ripped from Amityville to where the hunters were, captured. Walking around but under supervision. Cold. So yes, those words applied. But at the same time it was not so entirely foreign as he might have expected. The huntress actually seemed fairly civil, and at no point had he truly felt ill intent from her. He followed her along, trying not to wince as a cool breeze blew past him. She seemed determined to test the bit of trust she was building up. "I will not promise to answer any of your questions," he said with a slight frown. "But you may ask, and if I answer I will try to do so truthfully? One answered question for another?" Playing a game with a hunter, this was different. It was then that their surroundings really came into view. Was this...was this a training ground? That was what the area suggested, and he seemed to perk up a bit as he looked around, obviously curious but not really saying as much. Maybe there would be something here that he could learn from, something that he could use for his own skills. Or something to learn about to defend himself from. pinchmonster I got wifi! There were a few training dummies littered about in various states of disarray; hacked up, splintered, a few very close to having been utterly destroyed. "Yes. We had to sleep underground for a long, long time. In a bunker. It was pretty miserable." Sasha spoke kindly to the mantid student, eyes curious as she watched him. "We finally got the dorms cleared out, but.. some were left without rooms." She shrugged. "Thankfully mine was fine." Sasha's expression turned thoughtful at Yǐn Cáng's mention of her previous offer. "That sounds fair enough to me, honestly. Would you like to ask first? I don't mind. Nona is eager to hear of her old home; she says there's much she's forgotten in her time away." Sasha smiled fondly as she lifted a hand to idly touch the barrette she wore at her temple. ramenli Sorry about the delay, it's been one of those days.

Underground for months? Dormitories destroyed? They lived in dormitories? Like students? Her few words t up far more questions than answers. "I am glad to hear that. Special things could be lost in such destruction."He would be allowed to go first? He would not ignore that honor, though he was tempted to insist that she go first. But no, hunter. His guar was not completely dropped. "Why do humans...why did you become a hunter?" That was one that made little sense to him. They scared humans, but they did not hunt them down. Even if they did smell delicious there were rules. Quote: Trust: 30% Calm: 30% Obedience: 40% (+10% for female hunters) Approachability: 35%

Sasha cleared her throat. She had to be careful. It was a question that she felt capable of answering, but she had to be certain not to give too much information. She paused and leaned against one of the training dummies, her curious gaze honed in on Yǐn Cáng's face. He was talking with her, which was good, and there was something fascinating about the polite way he carried himself. Her mission was obtaining information, and she didn't want to come back empty-handed.
"The truth is that I've always been a little more... attuned to seeing things. You know. Shadows. Things that go... bump in the night." She cleared her throat.
"When my father died, I had nothing else in my life. When I was approached, I accepted." Sasha shrugged.
"My turn. What scares you the most about hunters? Personally, I mean, if anything?"

His gaze dropped, not entirely comfortable with such close scrutiny from a ghoul. Seeing things? So a special natural ability for humans? Maybe...So she had been scared by Halloween due to her ability? So she was trying to fight her fears? But no, she had been recruited and had no other options. Confusing. "Scared?" Maybe of weaponization, but he was not going to admit that to her. "I dislike hunters more than fear them. They do not fight fair with nets and traps. It is not a test of skill with hunters. What do you like about being a hunter?"Quote: Trust: 30% Calm: 30% Obedience: 40% (+10% for female hunters) Approachability: 35%

"What do I like about being a hunter?" Loaded question. "I like having something to do. I like having a purpose, something to strive for. I like having friends, people who care about me here. Learning new things. Staying busy." She shrugged and tucked her hair behind her ear. Of course they fought with nets and traps - when they were dead, they were dead - and there was no going around that. She wasn't going to say that, it would be silly, but... when the hunters went out on a mission, there was always a possibility that they wouldn't return. Sasha idly rubbed the side of her nose and narrowed her eyes as she pondered her next question. "What are your feelings on the Horsemen?"

Really, if he was honest with himself, he liked being at the school for much the same reason. He liked being busy and...well he enjoyed learning some new things. He liked the knowledge, but not necessarily the reading and such to get there. And having friends was something he had not really missed until he had them and realized that his life before had been fairly empty.
Yin's eyebrows furrowed and he blurted out the first thing that popped into his mind. "Why does everyone seem to care so much about horsemen?" He looked faintly embarrassed and cleared his throat. "I must apologize for that Miss Sasha it is just that it seems so peculiar to me. Until we went to the Isles I really knew very little about the horsemen, and once we were there the Isles were destroyed. They lost their homeland and much of their race, so naturally I feel badly for them. But I do not really know them, and I do not know all of what they have done. Or why. So that is all I can really say."
He though for a moment about his next question. It was a good time to learn about the Hunters, but it was hard thinking about what to ask in such a short time span. Instead he went for a more personal question that she might not bother answering, because he could not think of anything else. "Do you hate us? Students I mean."

"They're dangerous, Yǐn Cáng. They're dangerous, and that's why I care about them. That's all."
His question struck her as kind of strange.
"I don't hate you. Me, personally. I mean.. there are some people on this island who had it worse than I did growing up. Seeing boogeymen or whatever, monsters in the closets, under the bed. I heard voices and saw shadows sometimes, but that was the extent of it - for the most part."
She cleared her throat and touched her barrette.
"But.. my Nona was a monster once. Now she's my best friend."
Sasha fell silent, introspective. She had no other questions.
"Maybe we should head back - unless, of course, you have anything else to say."

"Heading back is fine," he agreed, though he had enjoyed being able to stretch his legs, to get out there and do something. And he was going to behave the entire way back, Miss Sasha was...nice and he did not wish to cause her trouble.
But one thing she said was bothering him, and as they walked back he could not resist commenting on it. Nona was a monster. As in the past. "Just because someone is a monster does not mean that they cannot be a friend as well. They do not have to change for that."

Sasha offered him a smile as they walked; it remained frozen on her face as she thought about his remark.
"Perhaps not," she finally said, voice soft as they drew up on their destination. "Thank you for taking this walk with me, and thank you for answering my questions."
Had Nona been changed against her will? Or had she agreed to weaponization?
<I cannot recall, little bird.>
Does it bother you?
<...it never has before.>
Sasha felt a little overwhelmed. This was a lot to contemplate.
