■ HARD-WORKINGThe last time in her life Fiona could afford to slack off was when she was in school; since then, she's had to constantly be on her feet, working all the time. She's gotten to the point that standing around doing nothing is unnerving to her; she can't help but feel like she should be doing something. It's hard for her to stop and relax. She takes the time to do so when she can, but it's never until everything else is done. She's been known to spend the entirety of her day off scrubbing her flat from floor to ceiling because it'd been a while since she'd 'properly cleaned.' ■ FRIENDLYIn spite of being somewhat slow to trust, Fiona is always happy to at least take a moment to talk to someone. She enjoys chatting with her customers, meeting new people. A day in which she sees no one but herself is a dull one; she'd much rather be out in the world interacting with others. While she doesn't often get close to the people she meets, she still takes great joy in what little time she spends with them, provided the interaction is a positive one. ■ PROTECTIVEBecause of what happened between her parents, Fiona developed a strong protective streak; she's quick to step in and defend the people she cares about if they're being threatened. She's also naturally suspicious of anyone they seem to be getting close to, and it can be difficult to win her approval. She would much rather chase off someone relatively harmless in an attempt to take care of her friends than allow someone who will hurt them to get close. ■ SINGLE-MINDEDFiona tends to get wrapped up in things; once she's on something, it can be difficult to draw her attention away. She multi-tasks well enough, but if something is designated as being her top priority, she will obsess over it until the task is completed. This applies to both work related tasks, and personal ones. When planning her best friend's wedding, she lost a fair amount of sleep because she was staying up late going over things dozens of times to make sure everything was perfect. ■ PATIENTThis was a trait that did not come naturally to her, but one she forced herself to develop. Seeing how horribly the lack of patience her father held affected his relationship with her mother, even before the drinking, she realized she needed to learn to stay calm and level-headed. It also helps a fair bit to counterbalance her natural clumsiness, which is good, considering her profession. If she were the sort to move quickly through tasks without care, she'd end up sticking more customers than not. ■ SOFT-SPOKENFiona developed a tendency to keep her head down and her mouth shut; it seemed like everything she said or did was liable to send her father off on a tirade, and she was afraid of him when he yelled. So, she learned to keep her words to herself unless she was certain they would be met with a positive reaction, or when they were directed at someone she trusts. She has many opinions, but she'd rather stay quiet most of the time to avoid conflict.

CHILDHOODFiona's childhood was very typical; her parents, both muggles, had what to her seemed to be a perfectly normal marriage. There was some tension at times, but she always assumed it was normal for married couples to fight now and again, and they never let things escalate too far in front of her. Her mother worked as a seamstress, and taught her from a very young age. She grew up with a love for sewing and for fashion. Her father, a teacher, thought such concerns were silly, but he kept it to himself... most of the time. When she received her Hogwarts letter, her father at first thought it was a joke, and the fact that his daughter was a witch never quite set well with him. He began losing his temper often, and where before he had never raised his voice to Fiona, he now yelled at her constantly.
SCHOOL YEARS She grew to love her time away at school; the tension at home grew worse and worse, and she rather guiltily found herself hating to return home for the holidays and Summers. Her father developed a drinking problem and lost his job. He blamed Fiona's mother, who he had decided must have cheated on him with someone else. He didn't believe it was possible for two non-magical people to have a magical child, and thought that the only possibility was that Christine had slept with a wizard and gotten pregnant with his b*****d, then duped Stuart into raising it as his own. Fiona discovered when she was thirteen that, when she wasn't home, her father had begun taking out his anger on her mother while he was drunk. Things came to a head when she was in her fourth year; her mother picked her up from the station alone for the holidays, and informed her that they weren't going to their house, but rather to a flat Christine had rented in one of the cheaper parts of London. Fiona worried about her mother constantly, but tried not to let it get in the way of everything. Reasoning that she was at least free of her father, she told herself that Christine would be fine, and tried to enjoy herself. Her idea of 'enjoying herself' meant a lot of skipping lessons if she thought she could get away with it, and a lot of day-dreaming. Luckily, she was reasonably smart, and performed well on exams in spite of skipping lessons on a fairly regular basis.
POST GRADUATIONAfter graduating, Fiona decided that she wanted to work as a seamstress like her mother, and got taken on as an apprentice at Madam Malkin's. She worked there for a few years before the owner decided she wanted to retire, at which time she left the company in Fiona's capable hands. Since then, Fiona has remodeled the shop and found herself focusing perhaps a bit too much on her work. This is in part because she hasn't had much of a social life to focus on; her best friend is a mother, recently remarried and with a new baby. She had a boyfriend for a time, but he traveled a lot for work and they didn't see one another often. Eventually, things ended between them, rather undramatically. Now she finds herself spending most of her time in the back room of her shop, working on designs and other things to fill the time.
