The punk moved with purpose through the school ground, grabbing poor snots by the shirts and demanding if they'd seen his little mermaid. No one had. One of them pissed themselves, another threatened to call a teacher. He ignored it all, tossing them aside as he reached the monster dorm. Danny was with him, he vaguely noticed that fact, but his mind was stuck on one thing, and one thing only.
"AMMMMPHIIIIIII!!!" he bellowed as he stepped into the monster dorm. "AMMMPHIIIII WHERE ARE YOU??" She would come running any moment, throw herself into his arms, a brilliant smile on her face--
But she was taking her time about it.

Danny followed closely behind, yelling just as loudly, but for once she wasn't nearly as fast as Roch. She could usually beat him if he wasn't shadowstepping, but he was really booking it.
Well he had a reason to.
"She's probably in her dorm waiting." Danny nodded. She had to be.

But how had she gotten here so quickly? Without being seen? The questions haunted the punk boil, so he shoved them down, heading down the hall that led to her room. He opened the door, rushing in-- no Amphi. "Amphi?" he called. "Blue eyes, are you in the restroom?"
He turned, heading for the restroom to see--no mermaid. Then he headed for the wall of the aquarium, staring inside with a sharp, searching expression. "Do you see her?" he asked Danny. "Tell me you see her."
He had this sick feeling in his gut--it gnawed at him, tormented him, but he didn't want to give voice to it. He had to be wrong.

Danny walked into the dorm much more cautiously than Roch- but not because she wanted to. She was just as frantic to find her best friend, but the water.
She watched worriedly from the door, ashamed that she couldn't bring herself to walk past the few feet of the entrance. Roch's reaction clearly showed that she wasn't in the bathroom. Danny lifted up a book, checking under that. You never knew.
Bravely, she took a breath and walk in front of the aquarium to stare at it with Roch. Unlike Roch, she was more terrified because of the water. "No ... Maybe she went to check on Lizzy and Xiu," Danny offered quietly. She tugged Roch's hand and said, "C'mon, I'm sure we just missed her." Danny was sure of it.
She had to be.

He nodded, his expression vulnerable. "Yeah--yeah, or that Thana guy," he said. "She's probably worried about everyone." He let her tug him along, still staring at the glass, certain that she would appear on the other side, her scales gleaming in the light, her hair flowing around her face. "I just got her, Danny," he said quietly. "I finally found her--"

Danny pulled at her phone, one hand texting vigorously, the other hand pulling Roch towards the door. She needed to get him out of here. Not to mention the room made her uncomfortable anyways.
Text to A bunch of People
Danny pursed her lips as the resounding amount of "no's" came back slowly as they walked. She looked up at Roch, about to tell him that no one had seen her, but quietly slipped her phone back into her pocket instead.
"C'mon, I'm sure she's just checking on her friends. She's like that."

"They haven't seen her, have they," Roch said numbly. He'd seen the texting, he knew Danny's response from her actions. "The hunters... they got her, didn't they."
His heart... his mind... all of it was shutting down. He'd thought he'd finally reached the point where he could somewhat protect his loved ones--where he could afford to have someone he cared for. He'd been wrong.
"Danny, I'll go look for her. You can--" He took a deep breath. "Go check on everyone else."

"Doesn't mean she's not here. I only text my friends. Someone's bound to have seen her," Danny argued. When Roch mentioned hunters, she snapped, "They didn't get her! SHE'S HERE." She realized she'd been yelling and rubbed a hand down her cheek. It was frustrating. There was no way they'd taken Amphi. She'd been under a net, and she'd dissipated and returned to school. It was the same exact thing.
She grabbed Roch's hand and pulled him down the hall. "We're going to jacking find her so calm the jack down." Roch wasn't the only one who needed to calm down.

"Everything, Danny, it was JUST like what happened to Tex--close to. I just--" He brought out his phone, texting the ghoul. Text to Amphi Amphi, blue eyes, tell me where you are Then he waited... and waited... and dreamed of slamming the phone onto the floor and stepping on it.

Alright that was it, Danny had had it with Roch's whining.
She slammed him up against the dorm wall, arm firmly braced across his chest, holding him in place so he couldn't escape her. Her orange eyes stared directly into his. She was serious. "Amphi is NOT jacking Tex. She's here, and we're going to find her."
Danny's gaze never left Roch's. "Got it?"

He held up his phone, showing her the lack of a response. "Amphi always responds in two minutes," he said numbly. "It's been three."
And another minute passed without a reply.

Danny's lips twitched in a frown and she let her grip on Roch go. He was clearly overreacting to the situation. Amphi was totally fine. Probably hugging it out with Thana right now.
"Fine," she said, taking a step away from him. "You can mope around staring at a stupid cell phone. I'm going to find her because she's not gone."
She turned around and said, "I'll bring her over to your place when I find her." When. Not if.

"No. I'm going to the lake. She might be swimming and not have her phone," he said. "I can't just sit around. You take the campus, I'll take the lake and the town," he told her. "Call me if you find anything," he said. "I'll do the same."
Because he didn't want to accept the conclusion he'd come up with. Not yet.

*timeskip whoo fancy*
Danny was curled up on his bed, hugging Roch's only pillow to her chest. She'd covered the entire campus, no one had seen her. No one had seen Yin. She'd found out Mei was missing too- the pretty pink-headed ghoul that had protected her back in the caverns.
She felt horrible. Worse than horrible. Her best friends, gone, just like that. She was going to talk to the people in the office, only to remember that Arel was gone again.
It was partially her fault, too. If she hadn't been so stupid to get caught in that net ... If she hadn't gone down there in the first place ...
All that was left to do was wait for Roch. If anyone was going to find her, it'd be him.

An hour passed. Another. And another. It was three in the morning when the door opened and the punk boil stumbled in, looking like death warmed over. "Everywhere," he said quietly. "Everywhere I looked, everyone I asked--from the richest bastages to the poorest--nobody's seen her. I even asked boogies," he whispered as he dropped down on the edge of his bed, his face in his hands.
