What was he doing out still? His uniform stuck to him in places that shall remain unnamed, he really didn't wish to think on it even, and it was far too hot out for comfort. And yet despite that he was out and suffering the heat. At least he had powered down at some point and gotten himself a cold fruit drink. He didn't need, or want, to dry of heatstroke - could that even happen in the middle of the night? Frowning down at his drink as he took another sip, he'd removed the top and straw by now, he set it down at his side. The cup was a large, in size, and already half empty of whatever it contained.
Sitting on the ledge of a shops roof his slate eyes were at half mast and looking out across the city. He'd picked out an area of the city to hang out tonight, one which was new for him to hang out around while on patrol. He'd gone with the high end shops, Dior, Burberry, Guuci, ect, ect...Shops he went to during the day as a civilian.
His booted legs hung over the edge of the shops roof while his cape touched the shops roof top, black material pooling on the cement root top. Tonight just wasn't a night he wanted to go running about and so he was just letting his senses look out for anything, he was too hot to go running around patrolling properly.
Looking up he blinked once, the sky was nice and clear tonight though not as clear as a winter night. At least it wasn't raining tonight, though maybe that would be a nice thing break the heat if possible. He really did dislike the summer, with a passion, and always would. Reaching for his cup he took a sip, hoping to make the cold drink last as long as possible, he might just have to get another if possible as this one didn't look like it was going to last much longer.

Kallichore felt him long before she saw him.
The night was calm and cooling off, not too many rogue youma to fight and dust. Was it just her, or were there less of them around in the heat? Maybe youma disliked summertime. It was hard to say how mindless darkness operated. She'd started her patrol down in the industrial district where bare machinery and metal reigned and drug deals were underway in back alleys. One thing that never ceased to thrill her was dropping in on criminal activity and scaring the hell out of whoever was there. Sure, they had guns, but some criminals recognized the senshi fuku and booked it before anything could happen. Kallichore didn't necessarily consider herself a crime fighter by any means. The reactions she got were more thrilling than that.
Then a power signature not unlike a general appeared on her mental radar.
The eternal didn't meet many generals and the only one she could recall was Zinkenite when she was still a fledgling senshi. She barely made it out alive from that encounter and resolved to get stronger, and she had. Her wings flapped and furled behind her as she hopped from roof to roof like a white-and-crimson rabbit, landing a roof away from the general's power signature. So, did they all get capes like we get wings, or is that just a guy thing? she wondered, and noted the blond hair. She recognized this one.
"Benitoite." came a cool greeting. They'd fought once, maybe twice, and it ended in more of a draw. This Negaverser was more into talking than fighting, and Kallichore wondered how his paintbrush had upgraded since they last met. His blonde hair stayed the same. "It's been a while."

Something was coming, something was close. He felt it, a senshi and not a weak one either. He knew if they sought a fight it wouldn't be an easy fight, for either of them, but he wasn't seeking a fight. The words from that meeting months ago whispered in his mind, reminding him that he wasn't to fight senshi. For a moment he gritted his teeth, he didn't like that or see the reason behind it. Yes, corrupting those they could worked but could they not even defend them self if a senshi sought a fight? Not even that but why give up the fight? It wasn't like they'd get them all to give and join the Negaverse. These senshi would still seek to fight them and they, the Negaverse, was not to fight them nor grab energy. So what did they do now?
Taking a deep, slow, breath to relax he kept his calm and waited. It didn't seem he had long to wait as he heard his name, so it was one he knew. Turning slowly he stared and for a moment he wished for nothing more than his weapon and to beat on her. He had a thing against her, had since their first meeting and her little magic trick. Again he reminded himself that it wasn't something he was to do - fight a senshi.
"Indeed, it has." Calm and cool as he looked over the eternal senshi. No, the hair was likely the only thing which was the same, though it was longer, his eyes as well. But his uniform had changed a lot since he'd first joined the Negaverse.
"Something I can do for you this evening?"

"Well, whatever I come up with won't be something you'd willingly do." So I won't bother. Too bad you won't stop killing by my just asking. she thought, frowning at the back of the general's head. They never listen to reason. This is when Kallichore wished she had some kind of beacon, maybe a laser or some kind of pulsing device that would show the Negaverse exactly what they were doing. The human mind was a logical thing most of the time, and wouldn't they turn if they saw what they were really doing?
The eternal started to walk towards the general, wary of the new power he'd received. Who did he have to kill to gain it? Did he know how he severed a family, fractured a community by taking that life? Somehow she thought Benitoite wouldn't care even if those facts were brought up. They couldn't argue. It'd get them nowhere.
She looked up to the sky, at all the twinkling stars in the sky. She wondered if Benitoite had ever had the pleasure of seeing the Earth from up there. "Do you have any dreams, General? Hopes? Aspirations?" It was an innocent enough question and while Kallichore was referencing the young man's civilian life, it was up in the air if he would take it that way.

"No, not likely." Came the honest reply from the blond haired general. He figured anything she'd ask him to do would result in his own demise or some injury, or injuries, he figured she had no love nor care for him or his life within her and that was just fine - he held no love for her within himself either.
The human mind was logical but how often did it fight with the illogical emotions? And normally emotions did win, simply because they effected a person in a profound way. It was what had him serving the Negaverse, if one wanted to get down to the root of it all, though he could also pin it on logic as well so really it was both. It wasn't simply one or the other and it never would be one or the other to get him to leave...or both - he was loyal.
"Dreams...hopes..aspirations..." Pondering the words, giving them thought, he even spoke them with an air of wonder as if he they were something of a mystery and perhaps they were. "I will say now that any answer I give isn't finite. Once my answers are achieved it will all change, new dreams and hopes and new aspirations. It's the same with those who seek perfection, it's ever changing. Perhaps it's that which makes life worth living, fighting for, and keeps us from becoming bored. The fact that we are always adrift, sometimes closer and sometimes further form land; in this case perfection or the achievement of these goals." He spoke his own eyes upward on the stars as he spoke. He seemed to be honestly thinking his words out, explaining things before giving his answer and the answer so far was deep.
"For the moment, the here and now, I can honestly answer that I would like to see this war end - the how I will not go in to as that is a whole different matter." A waving of his hand as he finished this sentence, waving off any further questioning on how he wanted the war to end. He wouldn't be getting into that this evening.
"I would like to have what many people do, I do not seek riches that aren't earned by me nor frivolous immature things. I would say I'm simple really. To finish school and decide on some job and find it, to remain close to those I consider family and bring someone else into that circle. To live well, and by that I mean to be able to live comfortably and have security in all things." He answered and brought his head down to look at her.
"And yourself, senshi?" He asked finally, slate eyes for once not looking so cold but quite human and honest.

She should have guessed. It was a rather awkward set of questions to ask someone so opposite in her own ideology. The eternal senshi had to think for a moment about her possible goals as a regular civilian. Most of her time was spent as a senshi, and subsequently most of her goals were consistent with that of a senshi. Sure, she'd graduated high school and enrolled at Destiny City University, but that was only to buy time in civilian form for something greater. Something beyond her human self.
"I'd like to be a writer someday. A famous writer." she finally admitted. It was one of her lifelong goals since she was very, very young. Young enough to finally write out her alphabet in a way that was legible. "Maybe major in literature and creative writing. Open a publishing house, cater to underrepresented talent. That sort of thing. Live comfortably if I live at all. Fairly simple." Love and marriage were out of the question. Kallichore was married to her work and really, who would want to get involved with someone like her? Or either of them?
She turned to look out over the city. "I'd like the war to end myself, as peacefully as possible but whether or not that happens remains to be seen."

"It's war, war by nature is not peaceful, so it will certainly not end peacefully. Even if a truce or a peace treaty is made it will not come about in a peaceful manner. It'll likely be the response to something violent and most bloody." No matter what they wished it was best not to hope, not when anything could happen. "So while I may hope for it I know it is not possible, and it's likely not everyone will give in to peace." A shrug of his shoulders. He knew there would be those would not allow for peace, not fully, there would be those who would power up still and patrol the night.
"So...a writer. What sort of books? And why not stick to that? Or why not simply open a publishing house. Why one than the other...or both at the same time?" He asked casually while wondering what her answers might be.
He was still surprised she wasn't out to attack and fight him, was why that?

"All wars end that way." Kallichore then wondered if a nuke was the solution as it was in World War II, but that was way too many casualties - innocent casualties - for her tastes. Even the Negaverse, she thought, would agree with that. So what other options did they have? The less civilians got involved the better, but they could only be kept in the dark for so long. It was an unending conundrum. Kallichore was lost in a labyrinth of thought.
Benitoite's question about her writing brought her back to reality. She leveled a gaze at him that was equal parts wonder and pride. "Mysteries. Psychological explorations. Horror. That sort of thing. Maybe a crime novel or two. I like serious things, as I'm sure you already know." She chuckled, the sleeves of her fuku shifting with the movement. "I think I will do both - be a writer and open a publishing house. We can do whatever we put our minds to, right? Maybe you'll read one of my books, or publish something of your own."
Only time would tell, right? Maybe in another life, they would have been friends.

"Read perhaps. Write, no. I would never fancy myself the sort to put pen to paper with the intent of creating some literary art. No, I'm no artist with writing." Came the simple and light answer, a little hand gesture following his words. His talents lay in other fields, even if he did like to read.
"Books that keep a reader thinking, are informative, and have a plot. I see, a worthy sort of book, not something so common and cliche I hope." It didn't sound like anything she wrote would be such, but who knows. There was likely nothing unwritten about, so every plot would be a copy of someone else's plot. It just depended on how many times it was used and how much it followed how a person reading it would think the plot to go - how easy it was to guess.
"Mmmm, wars do follow a generally accepted line of action. Of course battles and tactics change. But it would seem the general heart of all wars path is the same. It shouldn't be a surprise really."

Kallichore chuckled again. "Me? Cliche? Whatever do you mean? Surely you think of me with more regard than that, General." Certainly she couldn't be cliche, what with all the straitjackets and eyeballs and strange oddities that adorned her fuku. She was stuck with it, as bizarre as it was, and she was beginning to come to terms with it. "I'll write a bestseller. No, I'll write a series of bestsellers. That will be my goal." Certainly not an autobiography. Too risky.
They already agreed on how war worked - they were intellectuals with a penchant for extra violence when needed. But it wasn't needed here. There was no use talking about the war more than it had been. Talking about civilian life though was something entirely different, and it reminded Kallichore that everyone in the war was still some semblance of human.
"Maybe a house somewhere on the outskirts of the city. I'll renovate it, build a library inside. Maybe a Victorian study with my earnings from my books. That sounds like a good life of retirement." Retirement from magic.

"Well..." He began slowly. "It isn't hard to be cliche given that books have been written for how long and by how many people. Odds are that every plot possible has been written at least once, likely more." He stated calmly. "But to answer your question, no, I don't think you are cliche. Even if whatever you write has been done before, in some form or another, I do not think it will follow the same way." There would likely be something, or many somethings, keeping it from being too cliche.
"A series of bestsellers...quite the talent you must have, or just a lot of confidence. Perhaps even both." Musing aloud as something between a smirk and a smile took residence upon his fair features.
"Than again Twilight was a bestselling series and I've heard a great deal against it." He added almost as an after thought. Really it seemed now that being a bestseller may not mean as much, not given that series having that win as well.
"I couldn't live outside of the city." Not after moving into the city. He was happy to live inside the city, he wasn't so happy to be living without Lily though but Johnathan kept him company. Johnathan did more for the blond than the light blue haired male likely even knew he did, all just by living in the house with him.
"Retirement...from writing or publishing...or both? The idea sounds nice, though certainly not my cup of tea." What was his cup of tea? He didn't know but he knew what some of the components were which would make it up. Something pieces to the puzzle were still blank, unknown, just holes in a half finished puzzle.

The eternal shook her head. She knew full well that everything had been done before, but that was nothing but a challenge to her. If she could be good at being a senshi, she could be a successful writer as well. It strengthened her resolve. "It's just dreaming, General, just like your own dreams. Whether or not it will come to fruition depends on several factors I can't control. But I can still dream."
Hands on her hips, the eternal senshi's great sleeves caught the wind and furled quietly up and down. Retirement. Something older folk looked forward to after fifty or so years of being in the workforce. But could they understand this line of work? "Retirement from all this, General." She waved a hand over the city, meaning the entirety of the war, of this eternal conflict. "Maybe it will be nice to settle down into normal life. But can we be normal after all this? After all we've seen?"
She shook her head. "No need to answer that. I think we both know. But for now, I must take my leave. My novels aren't going to write themselves, you know." The eternal gave her Chaos counterpart a curt nod in respect and launched off the building as only a senshi could, sailing through the air in a cloud of skirts and wings. Maybe she would actually get back into writing. Odd, the push coming from someone so unlike and yet so like herself. Kallichore would need time to think about this. Maybe a return to a civilian hobby would help center her thoughts.
