It was rather...odd for Mar to be so alone. Strange enough as that sounded, with how he had intended to live a life of solitude after leaving his family on the other side of the great span of Kawani land. But now, after settling down with his love and best...well...pretty much only...friend, Celeste, and then the joy of children- three of them, as crazy as that was (as crazy as it all was!), only having one foal for company was a weird circumstance. Not that he was unhappy to spend some quality time with his only son, by any means! It would just take some getting used to.
Mar was currently floating around in the deeper ridge of the local lake, watching Rion work his way towards his father in a...less than graceful effort. "Don't splash so much, Rion, it might annoy others," he said in a rather emotionless tone that was meant to be gentle scolding. "But there's no one else here, Dad! And I'm the best splasher, see?" Rion's tail slapped the water and he smiled victoriously. He was happy to have his father all to himself for once. More attention for him, and he couldn't be overlooked! It was his chance to get some praise!
But at the same time, he didn't want to ruffle Mar's fetlocks too much. So he quit for the time being and swam inwards a little more quietly. Stealthily. Like a snake, even! His sisters surely couldn't do that!

Hidden down below in the depths of the waters, Minali rested, her curvy tail clamped along a large tree branch that had tumbled into the pond awhile back. It had been too peaceful lately, she noted; the only things that rustled recently were the ocassional fish she managed to catch sight or some land animals that came across for a sip of water. While she didn't mind the occasional quietness, this period of calm had been for too long. She felt herself start to grow a bit restless and anxious.
Huffing softly, the seathi loosened her grip on the tree branch and decided to get a peek above - have an idea of what was going on in the world outside her home. As she neared the top, however, she could see two figures wading around. Well, more like one was wading and the other was flailing around. A smile curled on her features as she examined them. They were both larger than her - though by the looks of it, one was closer to her size than the other. A small family, perhaps? Regardless of the possible relation, she plotted a route towards them.
Nearing them, she could see now that they were kelpi. And one of them was a foal. Smile spreading further across her face, she tried to swim quietly towards the foal, aiming to nick his tail playfully.

Rion was doing well until something touched him. Especially since it was something. His father was over yonder, and he would have known if it was either of his sisters sneaking up on him. They could never sneak up on him! He was the water-snake! And the thought that his mother did it never popped into his mind- Dad probably would have ruined any sneak attack by being Dad.
His cool and focus immediately melted away into fear and primal hide-behind-daddy mode. "Dad, Dad! Something's touching me, something's touching my tail!" He splashed over to Mar as quickly as he could and started trying to climb up the big waterhorse.
Mar only sighed. "It was probably just some fresh-water kelp or a harmless otter." He didn't fight or buck off his son, but just winced at the hooves scratching at his back. "It will be okay, Rion. Nothing in this lake will or can harm you. You know that. Please quiet down. You're upsetting the lake life."
Even so, he looked around. Nothing seemed amiss. Definitely nothing bigger than himself was lurking down there.
"But there's something in the water!" Rion cried as his father's head submerged to get a better look.

Minali hummed, a mischief and playful smile remaining as she watched the jumpy foal take flight towards the father. By the way he seemed to move - he didn't seem to be particularly happy. He looked more scared than anything. Her smile slipped into a frown and she huffed. It was a bit cruel of her to nick at his tail - she didn't take into account that the foal was so easy to frighten. She resolved to apologize; it was rather rude of her after all. She slowly swam towards the pair, making sure to not come across as being aggressive or a threat.
Just as she had been in close proxmity to the pair, the older and larger one had dipped his head underwater. From what she could tell, he didn't seem particularly angry, nor did he seem like he was planning on biting anyone's head off. She let out a breath of relief and bubbled out a hello.

Mar was not at all surprised to find himself correct, although he was a little relieved at discovering a seahorse of all things. Definitely a harmless creature through and through in their case. It seemed slight paranoia even in the face of obvious safety was a father-thing that he was developing. How quaint.
He nodded at Minali and rose his head above the water to talk to his son. "Come see this, Rion. It's a Seathi." He waited until Rion had hesitantly let his own small head go under the water before Mar joined him. Obviously the colt needed the socialization, if possible.
Well, Dad had never been wrong before. And with how small, tight-knit, and secluded the family was, Marion had never seen one of these small horses before.
So as soon as she came fully into view, he was utterly amazed. This blue horse was smaller than he was! And no back legs! Did they have to live in the water all the time? That had to be awful. At least he had four legs. Was she full-grown or young like him? Could there be adult horses that small? He hoped he'd grow and not stay like that! His immediate judgement was as such: seathis were cool but weird.
"Her eyes are like yours, Dad!" he tried to say in the water. The lucky draw of saying something somewhat tactful.

The seathi raised a brow curiously at the two. The younger one seemed genuinely surprised at her presence. Had he never met a seathi before? The idea was slightly shocking - but then again, he was young, so he more than likely hadn't had the chance to explore and meet others. She couldn't help but let her features take on a curious expression as he babbled under the water about something to his father. She didn't understand him very well.
But she did take the chance to study the two better, now that she was close enough to them - both were obviously kelpis; but the older, larger one was dark with strange plating on his chest and front legs. The son was a bright, off-white color except for his back legs. Compared to herself - colorful and tiny - she felt strangely out of place. Not that she was going to let it bother her. She laughed, a stream of bubbles emitting from her mouth and racing to the top of the lake. Assuming that they would be more comfortable getting acquainted above water, she swam to the top.

"I didn't know seathis lived in the lake." Mar commented when Minali surfaced. How very blue and exotic! He wondered if he might have seen her before, but never noticed from her camoflague. Though those eyes would have been a dead giveaway... "I hope we're not bothering you or your home." He was obviously embarrassed for his son if Rion did indeed annoy her. "I'm Mar, and this is my son, Marion."
"Hi!" Rion quickly piped up after staring at the seahorse while his father was talking to her. He was noticably excited with how his tail wagged under the water. "You're a seathi? So are all seathis that short? Or are you still a foal? Where are your legs? Do you all have cool eyes like that? Dad has cool eyes like that but I don't-"
Mar gently cut Rion off with a touch of the father's tail on the son's mouth. "One thing at a time, Rion."

The blue creature eyes darted between the two, making note of their names. "Hello, Mar and Marion! Is it just you two, or do you have more family?" Her eyes flashed with eagerness at the idea. "I guess I mostly try and keep to myself, then. I never noticed you two take a dip here before though, to be fair." Wriggling her tail a bit, she circled them, curiosity wanting to examine them thoroughly. She could very much tell they were related - the boy looked almost like a copy of his father with minor differences. "But no, you're not bothering me at all!" Minali grinned and let out a soft laugh. "Gosh, I think if you two were bothering me.. Well, I would have held onto Marion's tail. Or made sure a chunk of it was missing. I'm Minali." She winked playfully.
The younger one - Marion, she kept telling herself; she wasn't very good with names - piped in with.. a long list of questions. Her eyes widened slightly, trying to keep track of them all. "W-wow, full of energy, aren't you! I'm a seathi, and I've never met a seathi that was huge so I guess we're all this size. And I'm not a foal like you, thank you very much!" She planned on answering the rest of the questions but after being bombed with them so suddenly, she couldn't even remember half. "I..I think you'll have to repeat yourself. But slower."
