Ban De was always peaceful before. As day became night and the first pinpricks of the night emerged, as children laughed and danced and sang on their way home.... The city sang a silent song as time passed.

As people walked, merchants peddled last minute goods and services, people laughed, singing-- the world felt uneasy, on a level.

For all the laughter and day to day living, something underneath felt Wrong. But... Such was a city, right?

People live, people move, but what is important tonight... What are you doing?

Next Post in a couple days-- To let us clear the stragglers for RP. :3

Astra sighed softly, running her slow, deliberate stitches around the sleeves of the dress she was constructing. The woman who had ordered it was a particularly difficult customer, a wealthier woman who felt little consternation about speaking to Astra as though she was just another servant, albeit one who didn’t live in the house. In spite of her overbearing, condescending ways, she was one of Astra’s most loyal, and best paying customers, referring to the younger woman and her fairly obscure shop as “her little secret.” Quite frankly it was shocking that Mrs. Drenden had allowed her the few hours of peace that she had been enjoying as she worked on the dress. It was an elaborate, frilly affair in a garish golden silk that Drenden’s husband had apparently brought from a recent trip to the east. It was for the opportunity to work with fabric of this quality that Astra was willing to put up with people like Mrs. Drenden and their overbearingly haughty ways. After several minutes, the sleeves were successfully attached to the dress which hung rather elegantly on the seamstress’ widest dress form.

Quinn was somewhere with their mother this evening, and Astra’s small shop was oddly, almost eerily quiet without the young girl’s presence. Her near constant chatter often had an almost soothing effect on Astra, in spite of the toll it sometimes took on her focus. She liked having the girl around, teaching her this trade was one of the best decisions she had made. She stared at the dress form for a brief minute, after the sleeves there was little left to do before delivering it to the Drenden Estate. Clipping what loose threads remained, she gently removed the dress from the frame and very carefully folded it into a box. She extinguished the lights and locked the door behind her, the attached bell jingling. Her steps were quick, purposeful as she strode toward Mrs. Drenden’s house, it was only a couple of miles away so hopefully she could be home before it was too dark.

As the last customer of the night stumbled their way out of the parlor, Ainsley had to stifle a cackle as she watched the patron's friend slap their new tattoo to "set the ink". That was an incredibly unpleasant feeling. Ten times worse than getting the actual tattoo itself, that was for certain. It had happened to her with every new ink addition onto her body and she knew it would happen for every one in the future to come. All part of the culture she supposed.

Rolling the gloves from her delicate hands, the girl flexed her fingers and inspected them in the last dregs of fading light coming in from the windows. Very dried out. A scowl formed on her painted lips. The gloves always dried them out. The woes of an artist.

Her scowl shifted to a sardonic smirk and she tossed the gloves in the trash before tidying up her area and heading out the door. Today had been an appointment day and with that obligation done and buried, she was free to go for the night...Which left her with a dilemma. She had expected the tattoo to take much longer than it actually had and now that she was done, she had no idea what to do with herself.

She waved to the shop owner on her way out and a rush of fresh air greeted her upon her exit. A slight breezed kicked up and played with the stray strands of her hair in front of her face as she watched the street begin to close up for the night. The parlor would stay open for a while longer but everything else on the street always seemed so...dead. It was, for lack of a better word, boring, and the scowl returned.

It was night time. No work tomorrow. She had hours upon hours to herself.

"May as well see where the night takes me, then," she whispered to herself before pulling her jacket closed about her and buttoning it up.

A strange chill hung in the air but her jacket did nothing to fend it off. It almost made her want to go home, to tuck herself away in her flat, but her thirst for the city's energetic night life urged her forward.

Amelia walked through the city with a small ferret tucked under her arm, the cream, pink-nosed animal as squirmy (and adorable) as always. An adolescent, really, but one Amelia loved and doted on constantly that she'd named Mimi and proceeded to give a collar of rainbow thread. Tonight hung eerie, cold, and her mind breifly danced to places not unforgotten recently, strange people...

Bah. The girl shook her head,m looking around as she stretched. The streets were empty, quiet, downright... Eerie, and she moved her pet to her shoulder, giving the animal a scrap of fruit.

"Odd night, eh, Mimi?"

The ferret dooked has if in response to her owner's question, her head bobbing and weaving around as she tried to get a good look at everything they passed. She seemed quite thoroughly entertained by her night out on the town... for about five minutes.

Then she wiggled around and tried to gnaw on her owner's hair because it was there and it was something to do and, well, she was a ferret. Ferrets have odd interests. She seemed perfectly content, though - despite her fascination with her owner's hair. At least, as content as ferrets ever seemed.

-----------------------------

Sonia wasn't sure why she was out right now. Well, okay, she knew why she was out right now - her mother had needed her to run to the market to fetch some incredibly important but ridiculously impractical item that only one merchant sold and she had to get it now before her mother forgot again and someone else bought it.

The blue-haired girl grumbled under her breath as she walked in the general direction of the marketplace stall she was aiming for. She didn't see why she had to get this thing - whatever it was - tonight. Wouldn't tomorrow morning have been soon enough? She didn't mind getting up early if needed, after all. But no, here she was, trying to walk fast enough that she would make it before the merchant closed up for the night but not so fast that it looked like she was rushing or frightened.

"This had better be worth it," she mumbled to herself, shoving a lock of hair out of her eyes as she watched. She really did need to keep it back better than she did, but she couldn't bring herself to change her hairstyle.

Regan needed a drink. Badly. This cast was quickly coming to try her patience, particularly that pompous a** of a male lead. She had spent the better part of two hours in a screaming match with the theatre’s owner today, his insistence upon keeping that...idiot on cast was intolerable. As was his threat to shut down the production if she didn’t accept that blowhard’s place in her play. So what if he was the son of the theatre’s most generous patron? That didn’t give him the right to ruin what was a very good play with his wooden delivery and awkward, crotch-thrusting posture. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he took any direction from the director, the bloody damned director as an insult to his acting talent. And then she got in trouble for being honest and informing him that there was nothing to insult. Of all the idiotic things in the world.

She raked her fingers through her dark hair in agitation, knocking loose the pen that she had tucked behind her ear. Grumbling slightly, she bent down to pick it up. Knotting her black mane behind her head, she rather aggressively stabbed the pen through it, most likely leaving an ink mark on her neck where the tip of the pen brushed it. On the bright side, her favorite watering hole was quite conveniently close to the theatre, a fact that had gotten her through many difficulties with this acting company. The knowledge that a stiff drink was just a short walk away was quite comforting when faced with someone who could barely remember their own character’s name.

In her single-minded determination to get her lips on the rim of a mug of beer, Regan seemed unaware of the others on the street, or of anything that might be amiss in the city tonight, after all, there was always something amiss in the city it seemed, but life went on.

Thomas took a breath of the fresh air, the light breeze the evening provided was a good way to get energized again. It had been a long day of settling into where he lived and his lifestyle. All he needed at the moment was a way to relax and relieve all of the stress that was pent up around his shoulders and on his back muscles. It almost seemed serene and calming hearing the variety of noise the evening air spared. He stretched as he strolled along the sidewalk.

The one thing that bothered him the most was the fact that he had no one to spend the evening with, having just settled down in his new home and adjusting to his new lifestyle. He had yet to meet up some people and make some friends. He glanced around at his surroundings debating on whether to go into a joint and hang out or just take a nice evening stroll around the city, identifying where certain buildings were and where shops were. But then again it was night time and he wasn't sure if it was safe to be wandering around on his own. He was eager to see what events and going ons the evening would grace him with. Hopefully he would meet some nice people or a nice girl and make some new friends.

The thunder was unexpected as people moved through town, churning as lightning crackled and the clouds rolled, a sickly green tint warning of tornado weather.

The weather turned... So quickly, so rapidly, it almost seemed... Unnatural.

Abnormal.

It was not unnoticed. The wind is picking up and there seemed to be a strange current in the air, as almost--ancient whispers whirred in the minds of some, warnings, not quite heard, a feeling something wasn't right.

And four shadows moved through town.

The first wore grey and maroon, with short, fine soft hair. Yet another blur bore grey and yellow, and had longer, fine, even curly hair. Yet a third had grey and green, and odder still was The man in a cape, standing watch over things from a two-story building, a snake coiled around his shoulders.

Odd indeed, but they seem alert, on edge, about something. Nearby is a small tea room that seems to be inviting late night customers, even as others frantically flee for home to escape the strange weather.

You know to escape a Tornado you can get to a Shelter, but a strange feeling pulls you to investigate. So... What will it be..? The Caped man with a funny looking snake, or do you investigate the Tearoom with cat that doesn't seem to be preparing?

Since we took so long we'll get the next post up when everyone replies. :3 You can still jump in if you have a powered won, of course!

Thomas blinked as thunder suddenly sounded and lighting suddenly cracked. He blinked when he had first left the house it was a nice evening but within minutes the weather had changed drastically. This shift in weather made him uneasy. He looked around to seek some shelter he glanced to his right when a tea room with the cat looked inviting. He thought over it for a moment before deciding to choose the tea room over staying outside. He pushed open the door.

He shook out the effects from the wind picking up and he ran a hand through his hair as he looked around for a place to sit, Choosing a seat by the window to watch the weather. He pondered over well..a shift in the weather almost seem a little creepy and strange, I wonder what is causing it.

Astra let out a startled gasp at the first clap of thunder, where had that storm come from? “s**t!” The word exploded from her mouth as the rain began to pour down in sheets, she doubled over, shielding the large box she carried as best she could from the rain. She all but ran, hunched over the dress box, toward the warm light of a nearby shop. She couldn’t quite tell what it was through her squinted eyes, but it was better than dealing with Mrs. Drenden if this dress was ruined by the rain. She could not afford to replace this fabric. She barrelled through the door, shoulder first into what was apparently a teashop. Oh. She probably shouldn’t have come in like that. Hm. She tried not to look embarrassed as she looked around, her eyes fell on a cat. Cute. Cats around food, that was healthy. She flagged down the nearest employee, “Could I please get a cup of black tea and a lemon scone?”

She sat down in a nearby chair, trying not to drip water on everything. She set the box, mercifully relatively dry, down by her feet and began to subtly wring out her soft brown hair, knowing full well how ridiculously tight her curls would be once they’d dried. She hoped that Mrs. Drenden’s son wouldn’t be the one to answer the door when she showed up looking like that. That would be the only thing that could make this worse.

Astra gazed out the window, her vision was limited by the rain but now that she was within the warmth of this pleasant little shop, she found the sight and sound of it almost soothing.

-----
Regan released a loud, angry swear as she was jolted from her ruminating by the sound of thunder nearly directly overhead. She looked up just in time to see a jagged bolt of lightning streak across the sky, white against that strange green. She had a hard time not staring at it, seemingly unaware of the danger, and indifferent to the fact that her hair and clothes were becoming plastered to her body by the rain. She shoved her pens into the leather satchel hanging over her shoulder, grateful that it was waterproof, even if she wasn’t. As her eye wandered the city’s skyline she became aware of a man. On the roof of a nearby building. Was he suicidal or just stupid? She grumbled to herself, it seemed like she had to do everything for everybody lately, it’s not like she could just let this guy get toasted, much as she’d like him to learn from being dumb.

She hurried through the building’s unlocked door and up the flights of stairs to the roof. The strangely dressed man seemed oddly indifferent to the storm raging around him, the lightning striking the rooftops of nearby buildings. She strode toward him until she was quite close behind him, and saw the snake writhing about his shoulders. Didn’t he know that snakes shouldn’t be in the cold like this? Honestly. What was wrong with him? Hoping not to startle him, who knew how someone like this would react, she very lightly laid a hand upon his shoulder, careful not to disturb his reptilian friend. “It’s dangerous to be this high up during a thunderstorm.” She said, raising her voice enough to be heard over the storm, “If you don’t come inside there might not be enough of you left to scrape off the roof.”

The sky cracked wide open and Ainsley jumped, startled by the noise and the sudden torrential downpour. This weather never meant anything good and she was miles away from home. Perfect. All she had wanted was a nice little bar buzzing with life and some whiskey to burn her throat. Now she got this. A storm.

She should have turned home when she had the chance.

As the weather steadily got worse, Ainsley began to run down the street, scowling and cursing the whole way as her beautiful boots got water stained by the puddles she had to stomp through in order to get by. She didn't have time to get home and her eyes bitterly searched for any glimmer of hope. Maybe an open shop or something welcoming customers in even in the strangest of storms.

A light in the distance caught her eye and she pushed herself towards it, not bothering to try to cover her hair or her clothes. She already knew she looked like a drowned rat with make up rolling down her cheeks in black streaks.

As she approached she noticed the tea shop and her heart skipped a beat. She sighed in relief and her mood instantly perked up at the thought of having a nice, hot cup of tea in a warm shop while she waited for the storm to pass.

Just as she approached the door, lightning streaked through the sky, revealing two people on a roof top.

What did they think they were doing up there? They were going to get themselves killed, that was for certain.

"Not my problem," she muttered to herself, her fingers gripping the door handle to the shop. She pulled open the door and the smell was so...inviting...so welcoming. The woman absolutely adored tea.

Another flash of lighting struck through the sky and Ainsley spun around, half expecting it to catch the two people on the roof top. They appeared mercifully unharmed and she sighed in relief.

The knot in her stomach told her what she needed to do.

With a last mournful look at the teashop, she let go of the door and bolted into the building where the man and woman so brazenly stood in the middle of a thunder storm. Taking the steps two at a time, she reminded herself bitterly that the tea shop would still be there when she was done.

Ainsley shoved open the door and rolled her eyes when she saw that the woman had her hand on his shoulder. Seriously? Wait, was that a snake? What kind of creepy sex scene did she just walk into?

"Look, I know kissing in the rain is sexy but you two really need to get inside. There's a teashop just down the street that seems to be staying open, we should really get in there. It's warm and...I don't know what you two planned on doing with the snake but you probably shouldn't do it right now."

Her scowl pressed into a thin, wry line. Why was she up here? Why couldn't she have just sat down and ordered a cup of tea?
PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 10:50 am

Amelia had tucked Mimi into her bag the moment the rain began, eying the weather and protecting her precious with a look of mistrust, especially the green. 'Nado weather was never to be laughed at, and she momentarily considered her options before seeing streaks--people?--moving through the area. She blinked, and looked up at an idiot and his snake on the roof, then a tea room. Neither seemed particularly bright, but she considered her options, and decided to warn the man in the cape to get off the damn roof, Mimi's bag in her coat for additional protection.

"Hey! Brilliance! GET OFF THE ROOF!"

She looked to Ainsley, shrugging helplessly. Why were people so, well, stupid? Atleast she seemed nice, and she was trying to help. Still, she had a hunch their caped friend up there was someone she knew. And tried to strongarm normally anyhow.

Mimi popped her nose out of the bag she had been placed in, sniffing the are and squirming around to try and get a look at what was going on. The building weather frightened the adolescent animal, however, and she quickly slunk back down in the bag, making soft noises of distress. Her tiny ferret brain couldn't understand why they were out in such weather, and all she could do was try to beg her owner-parent to get out of it soon because the bag didn't feel safe - she didn't feel safe and she was quite determined to let Amelia know that.

--------------------------

Why couldn't the weather cooperate just this one time? Sonia let out a vocal groan and considered just turning around and heading home, but considering the distance it was likely that she wouldn't make it before things got really bad out here. Sighing, she glanced up at the man on the roof for a moment - stupid, didn't he know that was the worst place to be? And capes were so tacky, anyway. Bluh.

"Idiot," she murmured to herself, before heading into the tea room. While it was strange for a place like this to be opening with the weather being like it was,it was at least some form of shelter away from the open. She'd take a sheltering building over trying to coax idiots to reason any day.

Kaida had stayed at the Neobedouin encampment longer than she'd planned, and was now making her way for home. She'd been talking with one of the women about their differing styles of music and song, and well...she'd gotten very, very caught up. She'd meant to be home BEFORE dark! And the odd feeling she got wasn't helping her any...

And then the clap of thunder, and the strange wind. And the green tint of the sky. She frowned. She knew what that color to the sky meant, even though the phenomenon wasn't common. The young woman shivered, and while others started getting to more secure areas...something caught her eye. A tea room, that held a very familiar feline. Ah! What on earth was he doing out still? Sighing, the blonde made her way to the tea room, intending on getting the cat to safety.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The snake coiled around the caped man's shoulders lifted her head, looking to Regan. And...smiling. Had she smiled? Snakes weren't capable of smiling, right? She then turned her head to the caped man, moving close to his ear and hiss. Or so one would think.

"This is one I need to deal with." The girl's energy was unmistakable to a guardian. And that's exactly what the snake was. Two more voices caught her attention, one familiar and one not. Ah...the shockwave girl. And yet another to Awaken. It seemed tonight was going to be busy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
An older woman with graying blue hair turned from tidying things up on a shelf as people came in. Ah! She smiled at Thomas, Astra, and Sonia, giving all three a polite bow. "Welcome, welcome. Coming in from the inclement weather? You're in just the right place! We have plenty of warm drinks available. Mostly tea, of course." She was bright and bubbly, and dressed in a manner that wasn't your 'typical' older lady fare, but wasn't someone trying to be 'hip' either. Just nice-looking and professional without looking stuffy. When Kaida walked in, she waved happily. "Miss Kaida! If you'd wait just a moment?"

On the roof the caped man turned to his guests, although his expression was anything but pleased. The air felt wrong, the gut wrenching pull of a beast close by making the man uneasy. He looked to the face of his scaled companion, first, almost relieved the serpent mentioned attending to the others. The fact they weren't relying on two untrained senshi was comforting.

The wind roared. Was it wind? Was a tornado close?

"How good of you ladies to appear." He glanced to Circe; raising a brow as he noticed his serpentine companion focusing on Regan and Ainsley, looking at the latter directly. Kissing? Really?

"You're timing is impeccable..." He unwound Circe, however, calmly indicating to her he sensed something in the green haired senshi's bag and without letting her protest (despite a smack to the face) he withdrew Mimi carefully, holding the ferret close to his face, and then stroked her head, noting a light in Mimi's eyes, simply then.

Like her mind clicked on in the presence of so many starseeds.

"Fascinating. I wasn't aware Duk had guardians so young."

------

The cat didn't seem to pay mind to people filtering in-escaping the storm was necessary, but there was a feeling. A pulse.

Senshi.

Then Kaida entered and his decorum dropped, the white feline rising, yawning, and stretching as he pad over to Kaida, lightly bumping his head against hers, and moved into her lap calmly, looking from her, to the others gathered. Well, it was very well and good so many came, if but troubling compared to the sickening feeling outside. While Atena attended orders, he shook a bit.

"Hello, Kaida."

The cat. Spoke. Then his eyes flicked about, looking at both senshi and-- wait, was he a knight?

Well this was pleasant. But not realy. The cat's tail tip switched.

"How nice to see so many senshi present... And a knight?" Furry eyebrows shot up.

----

The clouds above whirled, rushing and spinning, faster and faster before the sky seemed to change, reaching to touch the ground in a massive pilliar of black. Then came a wind, too strong to be natural as the cloud-walls shifted from a massive tornado resembling a 'Finger of God' to a monstrosity, massive and imposing.

It bellowed, the sound resembling a freight train.

On the roof another male returned to interrupt the conversation, eyes flashing.

"Kunzite." He seemed to blink, short blonde hair bobbing as his head turned.

Senshi?

"Looks like the weather's not quite what we were hoping."

"Alright. We'll need to take this inside with Atena. Jadeite, have Nephrite and Zoiscite keep me informed."

The blonde nodded, moving off as the white haired man, Kunzite, looked to Circe.

"If we're moving out, Circe, it may be best you help them move in a safer state. I assume one already has her pen."

----

Inside, the cat frowned, glancing out at the roof. It looked like Kunzite wasn't alone, so the feline turned calmly to the group again. Nevermind he just spoke. It looked like they may move soon, and from Atena'sw movements at the last wind gust, he had a feeling he knew why.

Damnit.

The white cat moved to the table.

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions and I promise to answer what I can.... But I'm afraid time is of the essence right now."

And he did a backflip.

-------------------

To those on the roof....

The snake seems to have something to say, but this... Kunzite fellow looks like he'll take the party downstairs soon as she's done, most likely to explain. You hope-- that wind didn't sound right... More like a roar... And is that little ferret going to start talking or something? Just what's going on?

Inside the Tea Room....

THE CAT. SPOKE.

THAT WHITE CAT SPOKE. And he just did another trick... And now some kind of pen or wand-thing (Or in Thomas' case, a chunk of lapis...) just appeared over your head. The cat hasn't explained how to use it, but you have a deep instinct -- or memory -- of what it's for, how to use it. And with how wrong things feel, maybe it's best you should! There's a pull, deep inside, that wants to....

Then there's that wind outside. That... Storm..

Roof or not, this weather isn't natural! Let's hope these people are professionals, or at least able to explain!

Things are picking up... So posts will begin moving. Get ready!

Next post will be August 18th around 9:00pm PST.
