Tokusatsu is a Japanese created genre of live action entertainment combining live action footage, usually of monsters and/or superheroes, with special effects. Usually, they use manual effects for as much as possible.

For good examples of Tokusatsu that people would know of, watch The Guyver (American movies based off a manga series), Godzilla, or Power Rangers (an American remake of a Japanese show).
