Muka had left her room to go hunting, leaving Needle with some free time. Normally she knew what to do with herself, but today? Today she was restless. Her thoughts were swirling with thoughts that loosely resembled loud colours of confusion had she been on some sort of drug; but as it were, she was just off her game. She needed to just talk, and she decided that now would be a good time to go to Lattice. How long had it been since they had a good heart-to-heart?
It seemed like forever.
The blue clad Engraver took the time to write a note to Muka (though as usually, it ended up being mostly doodles of confused frustrations), leaving it on a spot he could find it once he returned Hunting on the off chance he got back first. With everything in place, she drifted towards the door that joined her room with her sister's, and gave it a light rap with her knuckles.
"Sister, are you in? I would like to talk with you, if that is okay~"

Lattice had been doing ... nothing important in fact she was simply sitting at her shrine adjusting this and moving that to be more appeasing to mostly her own aesthetics while keeping in mind traditions for the most part. She knew sometime soon they would have to go back to the manor and she would have to either keep secrets or be prepared for the backlash that would ensue of she spilt any of her own 'adventures' to the Elders.
...Lattice frowned down at her shrine.
Honestly? Slowly but surely she didn't want to head back anymore. She wanted to stay and be with her friends but it was expected of her to return and...
"Ahh!" Lattice startled out of her thoughts when she heard a knock and the familiar voice of her Twin, "Yes! Please do come in if you need to talk," she sounded eager, happy even. Yay! A distraction from her own fears and uncertainty.

Unfortunately for Lattice, what Needle had to talk about would probably not be the distraction she was hoping for. At the invitation in Needle smiled, closing her fingers around the door handle and ghosting through into her sister's room, closing it behind her. It didn't take her long to spot her twin's form, and she headed on over to sit beside her, leaning in long enough to plant an affectionate kiss to her cheek.
"How have you been, Sister? I hope everything is well?" Yes, get the small talk out of the way first! Of course, she was honestly curious about it.

She leaned into the kiss on the cheek with a small happy sound. Lattice abandoned her work with the Shrine to turn her attention to her Twin, "I am alright, I am simply trying to...Readjust myself to being social," the Engraver smiled a little.
"How are you?" Lattice asked simply, her fingertips idly tracing over a spot of ink on her own clothing. Ah, Ink. It is so wonderful, comes in various colors. The smell, the feel of it...
If she abandoned her Clan would she ever be able to work with it again?

"It is, as they say, 'like riding a bicycle'." Needle chuckled, making herself comfortable in front of the shrine with her sister. "Granted we have never ridden one, however I hear once you have done it once, you will never forget." The ghoul nodded sagely, thoroughly believing what she had heard. When the question was turned back to her she smiled softly, bowing her head almost shyly.
"I am...amazing. Sister, I have never been so happy in my entire life." She gushed softly, linking her fingers together. "I have...found someone."

"Oh?" Then she listened a little more and hand but one thought on the subject of bicycles, "We should learn to ride a bicycle one day it could be fun, hm?" Lattice offered offering a bit more levity to their conversation. It was always nice when they talked about things.
When Needle mentioned she was feeling amazing the ghoul nodded in acceptance and even smiled encouragingly - though it was unseen by both but the smile faltered a bit of confusion crossing over her masked face, "I...am happy that you found them, were they lost?"
...Yes, Lattice took the term very literally. Very literally.

"We should! I hear it is rewarding on top of being unforgettable." Needle nodded knowingly, glancing over her shoulder towards the door that lead to her room; Muka wasn't there right now, but...perhaps he knew how? At the very least he might know someone who could teach them! Hmmm...she would certainly have to ask him!
"I did not understand the term at first either." The Engraver informed her sister, reaching over to pat her hand. She was amused at the thought; Muka? Lost? Yeah right. "However...I mean...I have met someone that I have..." The ghoul paused, tilting her head. Did she for sure have feelings for Muka? Well, at least there was one thing she knew for sure; "...been experiencing a great deal of feelings for." The word was stressed, knowing that Lattice would understand the gravity of the situation.

"Consider it on the list of things we must try," Lattice said in response. She enjoyed trying new things even if they often seemed scary or unsettling.
Lattice stilled herself for the time being as Needle explained the situation in a bit more depth to her and at the end she was uncertain what to think or feel except a bit of panic rose within her. Panic and fear for her Twin. Her brow furrowed a little, "That is forbidden, Sister. If the Elder or anyone finds out," she said quietly.
What if they take Needle away from her because of these feelings? Her hand reached out toward Needle's, "Sister, I...you know I am the last one to get in the way of your joy and I am happy for you, truly, but...."
Was she being selfish? Was she being unkind? Lattice suddenly felt troubled at these words.

That was the response she had honestly expected. She could hear the panic and concern clear as day, but Needle had prepared for it and didn't also rise to her sister's feelings. When Lattice took her hand Needle caught it, giving it a squeeze and a soft smile.
"I know...I assure you I did not intend for this to happen." She hadn't expected that experiencing 'normal' things with a boil would lead to this, and yet...she could feel something growing. New experiences that she had passed off as curious at first that had taken root and started to bud. "I understand your concern...and I am conflicted to tell you that I have done more than just experience feelings with this boil." At this colour dusted her cheeks, feeling girlishly shy for a moment as a butterfly briefly danced in her stomach. She squeezed Lattice's hand, her head lowering.
"I understand what I am doing is dangerous...but Sister, I can not stop. I like this."

She wanted to flail and she wanted to do all sorts of things. Maybe even cry but not quite. The tears weren't there but she was starting to tremble a little as Needle went on.
Oh no. Oh no. They're going to take Needle away and she'd be alone again and...
Lattice calmed herself. No. She...She wouldn't disapprove. If she disapproved then she'd truly lose her Twin. The small rift that existed between them would grow even more and...
Must make Needle happy. Must make it up to her. Make it all up to her. Her fingertips squeezed back at Needle's hand, "Needle....I...I just...don't want anyone to hurt you...Not..this person you have feelings for and not our Clan..."
She cleared her throat a bit, "W..What else?"

Lattice's panic was breaking her heart; she knew her sister, and no amount of mental psyching could stop Needle from realizing that she was in an absolute panic over this. She did regret bringing it up, but she couldn't very well keep it from her, either. "I have been...very intimate with him." The blush continued, that feeling of girlish shyness still remained. "I have had sex with him...ah, twice." For the first time in a while she was scared; scared for what her sister would say or think...but she couldn't help it.
Needle shifted her weight, moving to sit in front of her sister as opposed to more at her side. She lifted their hands to nuzzle Lattice's against her blush-warm cheek, hoping to be reassuring enough. "You are the only one that could hurt me." She assured her twin, smiling softly. "No matter what the Elders have done, no matter what this Boil could do, you are the only one that has that power over me." Sure they could hurt her physically, but...her body would heal eventually. She would dissipate several - if not hundreds - of times, and it would certainly hurt, but nothing could ever affect her like the emotions of her sister could. "So I will be very careful, for you, my dearest."

She felt oddly frozen and disconnected as Needle admitted to being intimate with another, an act that was not commonly done by Engravers. There was that feeling of warmth it seemed to thaw her from her thoughts. It wasn't that she disapproved. Her Sister was curious it was bound to happen. It happened now and it wasn't going to be undone. She wouldn't abandon Needle, she couldn't abandon Needle.
"Just as you are the only one that has power over me," she returned softly. Some resolve steeled over her - a decision, "I will protect you," she said quietly. Lattice would keep it secret as best she could.
She tried a smile, "I ... I am sure this is not the reaction you wanted. I am sorry Dearest."

"Please do not worry about me, Sister. I have learned how to keep withdrawn, they will not find out." It was very important for her to not hurt Lattice, but more than that it was important that the opportunity never came about; if the Elders didn't know, there was nothing to come back on them for. "They will not harm you, or myself." Another little hand nuzzle and she lowered them, letting them rest somewhere between them.
"I did not know what to expect, but I could not keep it secret!" This was important to her after all! Both Lattice and Muka, though the latter was still growing on her. Needle, now assured that Lattice wouldn't hate her for going so far out of Engraver lifestyle, was all smiles. "It started out as an experiment between us, but I have been acquiring feelings and Lattice, they are so wonderful!" She gushed, though her voice remained fairly soft. "He has been showing me a side of life that we were never allowed to have...and it is every bit as charming as I dreamed~"

Lattice smiled softly, "Needle, I will always worry for you because I care and love you so," she said quietly, "I love you more than I love myself," she admitted. There was so much more she wanted to add and say but that also felt enough and so she simply let her Sister take that in.
The ghoul listened to her as she explained and this time she wasn't trembling with fright or uncertainty. This time she listened more open heartedly drawing in her Needle's words and listening to how happy she was.
Something as wonderful as Needle insisted it was couldn't possibly hurt. No matter what the Clan said. Something that made her Twin happy had to be wonderful, "Is it...Is it that Muka boil?"

"And I you, it makes us quite a pair." Needle chuckled softly, leaning forward to nuzzle against her sister. "Yes, it is Muka. His name is Ulmuka Knobwalker." Needle nodded sagely, gesturing back towards the door that lead to her room. "He has been staying with me these past few nights." She brought her hand back, extending her fingers wide and looking down at them, at the ink that stained her knuckles. "I tattooed both of his hands, I have been taking care of him as he heals." Though he had been getting more able, enough for him to hunt with her consent.
