It hurt.
Heha-Nimsup never thought it would ever hurt as much as it did right now at this moment. Knowing the mother of his children wasn't coming back. She was the love of his life. The one that would make everything light up inside him and now he just felt so dead. He wasn't going to be able to see her smile again or hear the funny names he was called by her. He didn't even know where to begin with his kids. How could he tell them that Zeda would never be around them anymore? How was he going to let them know that she was gone forever? He knew he would probably see her around eventually, but it wouldn't be the same. He was broken and felt so lost. He had his daughter around him at least, but his two sons were just as gone as Zeda was.
As he walked slowly through the open plains, he could feel his heart rattling in his chest. He was trying to move on and get over everything that had happened. He had let one mare go only to get forgotten by another. He didn't think Zeda was going to do this to him. His head was low and his eyes were slightly puffed from whatever tears he had left that had fallen out. He knew he was done crying and that it was time to just move on. The problem was that he already had children. He didn't know many mares that would want him or his baggage, but he had some hope.
Lifting his head up slowly, he eyed around before looking up to the night sky seeing the stars lighting up the night sky. Sometimes he wished this was all a bad dream.
