Most nights of the week, Remarque could find himself something to do. Very rarely did he ever find himself bored—though tonight was certainly pretty boring.

He had worked all day, then taken his girlfriend out for a nice dinner, gone home and helped his mother move some boxes out of the attic—today had been eventful, so he’d expected tonight would, be too.

Remarque found himself gathering energy from only one already incapacitated drunk who had stumbled right into his path, but beyond that, he’d spent his time wandering aimlessly.

He picked up very few energy signatures, but what else was he supposed to expect of a week night?

His diligence paid off when suddenly an energy signature appeared on his radar—close.

Which would have thrilled him more had he not just knocked out some punk who had been stumbling around in some sort of drug-induced trance. The mirror wraith darting through the target did not seem in the least bit phased—and Remarque reasoned that he was an Eternal. What did he have to worry about, anyway?

Super Sailor Aster, on the opposite hand, always had a solution to boredom. Nearly as high as a kite, Aster was ending her night of patrol by resting in a particularly large tree for a particularly small park, leaning back on a thick branch with a smoking joint between her lips. That is - until she felt the faint signal of a Chaos aura not too far. Gasped lips opened and the blunt fell from her mouth and down to the grass yards below.

She hopped out of the tree, making notice to put out the joint as she landed on the ground, and sprinted off towards the signal. She wasn't exactly one to look for a fight, but where there was Chaos there was usually an innocent victim being terrorized - and that she could not stand for.

As she turned a corner she saw it - one of those bizarre dark Senshi draining the energy of a young man. Intolerable!

"Yo, man," she said, ever-so-intimidatingly. "Back off or feel the might of sunflowers."

Her catchphrase needed some work as most people didn't find the might of sunflowers to be all that chilling.

Well. At least this made things interesting.

Remarque clucked his tongue as the super Senshi appeared. On her own, she didn’t seem like she was going to present him much of a threat—his mirror wraith on the other hand…

He’d never lost one, though had been warned that they were fragile little bastards. The one currently draining energy seemed content to keep darting through its victim, though Remarque wasn’t going to take any chances with a Senshi around and held out the shard for the creature.

The thing, hideous as it was, didn’t really have room to protest. It puttered around for a bit and then seemed to sulk back into the glass.

Now free to focus his attention on the girl, Remarque did just that. She wasn’t unattractive, but then again—yellow had never been his favorite color. “The might of sunflowers?” he scoffed as he pocketed the shard. “…Yeah, go ahead. You show me how mighty a weed is.”

"If you won't back off, then you've forced my hand," Aster said, half-pleadingly. She hated to fight, preferring to resolve matters in a more diplomatic approach, but that wasn't exactly plausible when dealing with these enemies as she had learned quite violently in the past. But that was the past, and now? Aster was stronger - a Super Senshi - and had kickboxing as a new trained skill that would surely help her.

She charged forward to the boy and attempted high roundhouse kick to hit him in his side.

For a girl that had just threatened to show him the might of a flower, Remarque was surprised she actually leapt right into battle. He had not been expecting her movement and—damn it—he should have moved. He’d considered that her being close would have given him an advantage—let her throw her kick and leave herself wide open.

It hurt despite Remarque having braced himself for it, but that didn’t mean that things weren’t going according to plan. He moved quickly and wrapped his arm around her leg, hooking his arm beneath her knee. “Hate to break it to you, but this isn’t a hand, it’s your leg,” he snapped.” Gripping tightly, he adjusted his footing and shifted his weight to spin just a bit, still holding onto her tightly. He released his grip on Aster in an attempt to send her hurling away from him with full expectations that she wouldn’t be able to balance herself on one foot with that momentum.

Aster may have gained a skill set in kickboxing in the past few months, but she still wasn't great in combat. The enemy Senshi was easily able to toss her aside, sending her flying forward into a trash bin with a loud crash and a thud. She was sure that she had hurt the bin more than she had hurt herself, but that hurt. She quickly picked herself back up again, springing back into combat and into boxing position.

"That was me going easy on you," she lied, but did her best to sound convincing. "I'm going to ask you one last time: leave or I will hurt you. What do you even want with this poor guy?" She took a step forward, positioning herself between her opponent the victim, all the while staying poised for combat.

Remarque scoffed and looked at the man on the ground. He couldn’t tell if he was unconscious, scared stiff or playing dead, but he figured that probably didn’t matter—he’d gotten enough energy out of him that he wasn’t going to gripe over trivial little matters. “Well. Nothing, anymore. If you want him, you’re free to have him. Not much else I can do with him at this state. I mean. I could drag him back to Mirrorspace, let him drain down to nothing then drop him back of here, if you’d rather?”

It was an offer he didn’t expect her to take, though he’d have been thrilled if she decided she’d rather scoop up this man and hobble off with him. It would be nice if she would get out of his hair so he could get back to business. Though…She’d taken up an interesting fighting stance—one that made it look like she knew what she was doing.

…Which meant that no matter which option she chose, tonight was guaranteed to turn into a good night.

"Ha-ha," she rolled her eyes, staying in position for his next move. She wasn't going to let the Senshi get anywhere closer to the unconscious man. "If you don't want anything else with him, then I suggest you leave. I don't to like, have to fight you or anything, man. Unless I have to."

Aster took a cautious step forward. "Why don't you go run along to your Mirrorspace place or whatever and leave the people alone? What is it with you Dark Mirror Senshi, anyways? Don't you have like, any conscience?"

Presented with the opportunity to answer her question or wander away, Remarque lingered right where he was. “If I hadn’t had a conscience, don’t you think I would have drained him dry? On the contrary, I think I’m being rather considerate, don’t you? Here I am, minding my own business, and this guy comes stumbling by. He reeks of drugs. Mumbling to himself. He could have gotten himself into a lot of trouble. Now look at him, he’ll just sleep it off.”

Remarque shrugged, obviously feeling guiltless. “I haven’t killed him. And I’ve turned him over to you, not that you really seem the trustworthy sort. I don’t see what I’ve done to warrant any sort of criticism.”

"HEY NOW, NOTHING IS WRONG WITH REEKING OF DRUGS," she snapped. Wait, no, that isn't what she was here to argue about. What was it again? Oh, right, that he was evil. That.

"So what then? You plan on continuing to drain energy from helpless citizens? Well I can't just sit idly by as you do that," Aster's ever-present giddiness and smile turned angry as she reached out her hand. "Sunflower Turret Field!"

Three feet before her, a small thirty-degre arc of five magical sunflowers swiftly grew from the ground, their faces aimed directly at Remarque as they began to shoot sunflower seeds as pellets for fifteen seconds. The pellets went at rapid-fire towards him, following him to be unavoidable except through deflection by taking cover. They weren't particularly painful but would make any spot sore after a while and they aimed for a particularly tender area of his anatomy.

While Remarque would have preferred talking in hope of offering some sort of reasoning not only to placate the Senshi, but to draw her into the court, it quickly became apparent that maybe he shouldn’t want to be affiliated with her in any manner.

He had many plans, not all of which consisted of draining energy from helpless citizens, but apparently this Senshi was as interested in conversing with him as he was with wasting his time on her. Thank goodness she’d decided to cut the commentary short and attack him. Not that he wouldn’t have enjoyed seeing what mind games he could get away with, but—hey. Things didn’t always go according to plan.

Like those pellets. Those weren’t in the plan.

Fists, legs, elbows, shoulders—Remarque didn’t have a problem when those were the primary weapons, but pellets? God damn, Remarque hated long-distance attacks. Defense was not his strong point, and his logic allowed him to take blows in order to get good ones in.

There was nothing to be gained from getting hit by pellets—only pain.

And, God damn it, it hurt. Not as much as some of the other blows he’d taken, but getting hit never felt good.

Remarque turned after the first hit, thinking he’d be much better off to take blows to a sturdier part of his body, though the damage was still done, and all he could focus on was making sure this did not happen again.

Which meant taking out Aster.

Which sounded great to him.

His body was stinging uncomfortably in some places and downright hurting in others, though it only served as the motivation to plow his fist into the girl’s face and scare her off. He had no more business here, and if she insisted on holding up his evening any longer, he was just going to have to cut this little get-together short.

He moved towards Aster quickly, arm pulled back and poised to strike.

There was one thing wrong with getting all your training from kickboxing: it was kickboxing. Although she had the general idea of what to do when someone throws a punch - you know, block it, mostly - her lack of preparation and general unawareness proved unhelpful as a punch connected with her face. She collapsed to the ground with a shriek and in a quick panicked rush to pick herself back up and into the kickboxing stance.

"That was so uncalled for! Don't you know you're not supposed to kick a girl?" she shouted before doing the thing you weren't supposed to do to boys - but has become Aster's signature move - delivering a swift kick toward's Remarque's nuts.

For as many times as a senshi had tossed a well aimed kick to his groin, Remarque really ought to have been more prepared. Of course that would be the go-to reason to attack when you were fighting a guy, but Jesus, what he wouldn't have given just to know that he could make her understand how much that hurt.

Aster had moved too quickly for him to have dodged the attack entirely, and while he had time to reach down and wrap his hand around her ankle, even he wasn't strong enough to stop her kick. It might have slowed the blow a bit and saved him from dropping to his knees right there, but if he'd thought her pellets hurt before, this was a whole different sort of pain.

It washed through him, like boiling water, and for a brief second he thought he might have seen pure white. It was a mildly debilitating blow—but one that he couldn't afford to let keep him down.

He wouldn't be gathering energy any more after this, so Aster would at least get something she wanted out of this. If she made it out alive.

"If you can't handle a kick, then maybe you shouldn't be picking fights," he seethed through grit teeth, dropping her ankle and attempting to throw another punch. He'd have liked if he could chase her off without too much trouble; it was hard enough to focus on moving when he was still suffering from her most recent blow.

Aster's panic was clear as soon as her ankle was grabbed. Crap, crap, crap, this is not what she wanted. She hated fights, even if she felt she was right to pick this one - it was in defense of the weak! But now she was in trouble, now she was -

--- "********, OW!" she screamed ---

- she was punched in the ********>, s**t Christ crackers on balls that hurt!" she grumbled as she limped around, clutching onto her face. It was all very dramatic and left her pretty open to any further beating.

Remarque would have let out a sigh of relief had he not been so focused on ignoring the pain radiating from his loins. It had faded a bit from her initial blow, but in the grand scheme of things, not by much. Satisfied that he had repaid Aster with pain, albeit not enough by his count, he took a step back.

"If you thought that hurt, then be grateful I'm not sticking around to give indulge you in a few more blows. Be a good girl and don't get in my way again. I won't hesitate to beat you senseless if you're just going to be a thorn in my side. Now, why don't you do something useful, like look after that guy over there? I'm sure you'd be of far more use to him than you are in combat with me," he said, glancing at the male on the ground. If she could stay distracted with him, then he had more than enough time to get away, though running just wasn't his style. Even if he could seriously use a bag of ice right now.

"So let me do you a favor. I'll let you take care of him and not snap your pretty little neck. If you want to pick a fight again, you're more than welcome to. But I've got too much left to do tonight to humor you. See you later, Sunflowers," he said before he turned, walking away at a pace he hoped was quick enough to discourage her from following.
