Really, Jace had no idea why Edgar had decided that it was a good idea to bring him to Clubs, let alone to a fine restaurant within the district. For a solid five minutes the Poochyena shifted awkwardly in the large chair he had been placed in, watching his guardian whisper quietly to the woman that had seated them. Finally when she smiled almost blindingly at them, the boy decided to scowl at the Hirayama, lifting his silver fork and pointing it at him in an accusatory manner.
"Why are we here? This is really weird." he muttered, dropping his fork and crossing his arms petulantly. "I'd rather eat the crappy food back in Spades."
"Training." Edgar said simply, eyes narrowing a little as he reached up and removed his knit cap, tucking it away.
It was as if Jace's guardian had said the magic word as, immediately, the boy reached up and removed his had, tucking it away as well, finger combing his hair into some semblance of order. He then followed his elder's example, taking the napkin and setting it neatly in his lap, looking up to make sure he did well, straightening in his seat when the Hirayama did so. Finally the elder chuckled, causing Jace to tilt his head a little and scowl, his ears flattening against his head in obvious displeasure; what kind of training was this anyways? Before the Poochyena had a chance to open his mouth and complain his guardian spoke, lifting one hand to silence him.
"Sometimes missions will require you to blend in, to take in a persona that is not necessarily you. It may require you to act, thus I'm teaching you to blend in." Edgar explained.
"Woah... Your accent disappeared." Jace breathed, eyes wide.
"Exactly. You'll learn to, too."
Jace worried his bottom lip before glancing down at the table, frowning a little as he peered at all the expensive silverware, the neat, placement, taking it all in before looking up at his elder and arching a brow. Edgar lifted a brow in answer, looking amused by his charge which only made the small Poochyena bristle a little and look annoyed. However, after a moment Jace plucked up the menu and began to scan the items and the terms; why was everything in a different language?
"Do I need to learn this language?" Jace finally muttered, squinting at the descriptions and attempting to pair them to the names.
"Only if you want to impress someone... Which you might. Absorb as many things as you can."
"Why do I need to know how to be someone else?"
"In case you need to pretend to be someone that a target you're after will trust. You'd be surprised by how at ease people can become around someone who is charming and knowledgeable of the the finer things in life."
"Hmm..." Jace frowned before slapping his menu on the table and eying the Hirayama suspiciously. "Is this your way of forcing me to learn how to dance? I hate dancing. I never want to dance!"
"You'll have to learn eventually anyways."
"Tch. Man... This sucks."
