The tikbalang pulled his arm back as well, and with a nod added "'S good to meet y' too." Petro glanced down at the the questionnaire the professor had left, brown eyes focusing on the third question for a moment. Square-root brows furrowed, seemingly already mulling over the initial answers he was going to put when he got to the third question. He fixed his attention back on the ghoul, "If y' got time on y'r hands, y' mind answering the third question with me?" he asked quietly with a cant of his head and a gesture towards the classroom door.

"Sure," Taima replied with a shrug, taking one of the worksheets. She didn't bother looking over it as she walked out of the classroom; she knew she'd be up all night working on it anyway, once she was done helping Tro. "Where to?"

Petro had a place in mind on where they could work in peace. He was already making his way towards: "The Library." Which, now that he thought about it, had been a very important building for the horse boil. It was where he met a good number of his friends, and idly hoped the ghoul he'd just met would be one of them. "Y' need anything before we go in?"

Taima checked her bag just in case: pens, paper, and all her other school stuff were right there where she put them earlier. "Nope," she replied, "I think I'm good. I've even got extra if you need something."

The horse boil nodded, murmured a soft "Much obliged." as the pair arrived at the Library. Petro immediately headed for his usual table, unsurprised to find it empty as he laid his things down. "Have a seat," Petro smiled, pulling out a chair for the ghoul.

Taima made a mental note to check out a book or ten her attention wandered to as she followed Petro deeper into the library. Her eyebrows lifted in bemused surprise as he pulled her chair out for her, but she responded with a "Thank you" as she took her seat. She placed her bag within easy reach on the floor beside her before settling more comfortably. "So," she said, her fingers loosely laced together on the table in front of her, "what do you need to know?"

After the ghoul had seated, the monster horse took his across Taima and brought out the questionnaire. "Y'r bag had a feather, a vial of water'n a small stone," he enumerated as he wrote them down on the second question. Once he finished writing, brown eyes darted towards the bonus question, "What 's the significance'v the things y' put in y'r bag?" he asked, penstrictor poised over the paper to jot down the ghoul's answers. "Could y' start with the feather, mebbe?" he requested.
He hadn't written down what he thought they meant to her. Not yet. But he'd formulated some of it while they were asked to identify who the items belonged to during class.

Taima hesitated before answering, eyeing the boil across from her and trying to decide how much to tell him. All of the items she had put in her bag had value beyond the physical or the immediately obvious--the class had called for the things that best represented them, after all. Finally, she shrugged. "The feather should be pretty obvious," she said with a grin, her wings flaring behind her for emphasis. "The other things are...momentos. Souvenirs from home, things like that."

Petro felt immediate relief that at least one of his observations had been right. The other two, however, definitely did not match. But judging from the wide, beaming smile on his face, he was alright with having one out of nothing. He began to jot down Taima's response, "Where're y' from, if y' don't mind my asking. Ain't gonna write that down," he assured her, even going so far as to put his penstrictor on the table.

Taima settled more comfortably in her chair as Petro appeared to accept her answers at face value and steered the conversation in a different direction. "Oh, far away," she replied with a dismissive wave of her hand. "Blackrock Peaks. It's a mountain range some days flight away from here. So boring. Not like Amityville. How about you? How did you come to be here?" Taima leaned forward, her eyes bright with curiosity.

Petro seemed to brighten in interest as the ghoul spoke of her homeland, "'Ve always liked mountains! 'S it accessible by foot?" Tro hoped so. What was boring to some he found just perfect for him. "My Clan's Elders decreed one'v our number be sent "outside" our territory. Was chosen." He may have left out the part where it was out of a bet between his Clan and that of a rivaling one. But one doesn't air one's dirty laundry in public (if Tro and his Clan had any laundry to begin with). "Do y' got a Clan'v y'r own?"Inle-roo DDD8 I am so sorry this took FOREVER ;n; feel free to poke me if I ever take too long!

Taima hummed as she considered how to best answer the boil's question. The easy answer was lol no, but she'd never actually thought about whether anyone outside the flock could access the higher elevations. "Probably not? I mean, I'm sure one could walk partway up the mountains, but there's a barrier of strong wind currents that's difficult even for us to pass by ourselves if we're too young or inexperienced. It would be interesting to see someone try, though!" For curiosity's sake, if nothing else, and if they failed, well, whoops. There was more information to be had from Petro's brief explanation, Taima knew it; it raised more questions than answers. "Chosen? Why just you, out of your entire clan? How does that work, anyway? We don't live in clans. It's mostly just family groups in...kind of a flock. Mostly just a community, I guess, we're not really that organized."

"Sounds formidable indeed." The boil's face cracked into an easy grin, a square-root brow quirking as if to say challenge accepted. He needed to brush up on his mountain-climbing skills anyway.
At the questions Taima answered, the tikbalang looked thoughtful as he mulled over the best way to answer. "'M guessing our Elders'r just being careful. 'V I fail and disgrace the Clan, 's just one lost instead'v more'v us. Needs'v the many outweigh the needs'v the few." It was the only explanation Tro could come up with and it was also the only explanation ever given to him.
"Ain't really complaining 'bout it. 'M honored I was chosen." And he meant it, the pride was audible in his voice. "So y'r community don't got any Elders the Chief follows?"

"We don't really have a Chief," Taima replied, meeting Petro's grin with a smile of her own. "If there's something important to discuss that might effect the entire flock, a convocation of stormbringers--which are, like, actual adults in full control of their Fear--might be called, but we don't really have a governing body." The idea of being bound to a place on someone else's say-so was foreign to Taima. She could go anywhere her wings could carry her, and though her parents may not like it, they didn't have much choice but to accept it, either. "What happens if you do fail? Not that I think you will," she was quick to add, "but I heard that Amityville is about as tough as it gets, and if you can survive it, you can survive anything. If you graduate, does that mean you were successful? Will they let more of you leave your clan then?" Huni Pi lskdjflkjsf so sorry for the wait D:

"Huh, does that mean y'r flock's got a lotta stormbringers?" Tro had the disposition to believe groups and Clans and probably flocks were large and possibly massive in number.
The response Tro gave to Taima's question was automatic, as if drilled into him at an early age. "'V I fail in my mission 'm given the choice'v Death'r Exile." He spoke without blinking or any hint of resentment. The conviction in his voice suggested that was the way his people dealt with failure. Then again, Tro never really did state what his true mission was. "But yeah, the things most'v us been through since coming to Amityville ain't like nothing 'v heard 'bout. 'M not sure what my graduation from school will mean for my Clan, 's not my place to say."
