The Past
Prim's mother Rose was raised by the Patel family since she was a few days old. Rose and the Patel's daughter, Lily grew up like sisters. Rose's parents had to leave the country for several years due to familiar and financial hardships. Rose's mother and Lily's mother were old friends so Mrs. Patel was more then happy to take in Rose while her friend was away. When Rose was 14, her parents returned, now successful and with a young man that she is to marry to increase their financial stability.
Rose and Lily both give birth to sons in the same year, Thorne to Rose ("Ha, I am so clever!" she says of his name.) and Tobe to Lily. 6 years later Rose also gave birth to a daughter, Primrose.
Primrose grew up in a comfortable life. As a child, she was raised to be a lady. She was a clever young woman, playing the flute, a excellent rider, was allowed to learn to read and write, and was growing up to be the perfect lady of a good family. But, not long after she was 16, Primrose's life took a unexpected turn.

It became privately known that Tobe, the young man that had grown up with her brother and had teased and harassed her as a child, was a homosexual. This of course caused his family great embarrassment and horror. A homosexual son would cause his family to loose standing in the courts, the community, and business. Additionally, Tobe would not be able to father heirs to his family's money and businesses.
A plan was proposed by Rose to Lily. Primrose would marry Tobe, saving the Patel family's face and securing the Jacobsone's family security and future. ("And such a perfect last name, Primrose Patel.. Rose Petal..Ah, I'm still quite clever!" her mother gushed) Without consulting either, it was announced Tobe Patel was to wed Primrose Jacobsone.

Tobe's preferences are kept under tight wraps and it was understood it would stay that way. He very quickly agreed to the marriage in order to save his family. Primrose was enraged about the arrangement but for the good of her own family and the promise of being allowed to do whatever she pleased, she consented to the faux marriage. Unfortunately, it did not turn out that way.
While Tobe was allowed to discreetly carry on his affairs, Primrose was under strict orders to not to be seen outside of the home with the company of any man who was not her father, father in law, brother, or Tobe. She wasn't allowed to leave the house without at least a maid or two accompanying her to help her shopping and to keep an eye on her. Prim began to get irritated and frustrated by the inequalities despite being told she would be able to "Do as she pleased."
No one was more sympathetic to Prim's plight then Tobe. Knowing that what she had been pulled into and how unfair it was, Tobe did his best to make his faux bride happy. Prim, becoming embittered toward Tobe and his family, shrugged off his attempts to be kind and began to spend the seemingly unending family money on the best clothes, accessories, and amusements. Everything was designed, tailored, and customized for her and it was all quickly becoming overwhelmingly expensive. She felt it was the only way to lash out, to let the families know how unhappy she was. Primrose was becoming cold, mean, and with mounting pressures to produce heirs for the Patel family, angry.
Then she felt the pull of the Ward Tree...
